Genesis 20
1 Afterward Abraham departed thence toward the South countrey and dwelled betweene Cadesh and Shur, and soiourned in Gerar.
Şi Avraam a călătorit de acolo spre ţinutul de sud şi s-a aşezat între Cades şi Şur şi a locuit temporar în Gherar.
2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. Then Abimelech King of Gerar sent and tooke Sarah.
Şi Avraam a spus despre Sara, soţia lui: Ea este sora mea; şi Abimelec, împăratul Gherarului, a trimis şi a luat pe Sara.
3 But God came to Abimelech in a dreame by night, and said to him, Beholde, thou art but dead, because of the woman, which thou hast taken: for she is a mans wife.
Dar Dumnezeu a venit la Abimelec într-un vis, noaptea, şi i-a spus: Iată, eşti un om mort, din cauza femeii pe care ai luat-o, pentru că ea este soţia unui bărbat.
4 (Notwithstanding Abimelech had not yet come neere her) And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay euen the righteous nation?
Dar Abimelec nu se apropiase de ea şi a spus: Doamne, vei ucide de asemenea o naţiune dreaptă?
5 Said not he vnto me, She is my sister? yea, and she her selfe said, He is my brother: with an vpright minde, and innocent handes haue I done this.
Nu mi-a spus el: Ea este sora mea? Şi ea, chiar ea însăşi a spus: El este fratele meu; în integritatea inimii mele şi în nevinovăţia mâinilor mele am făcut aceasta.
6 And God saide vnto him by a dreame, I knowe that thou diddest this euen with an vpright minde, and I kept thee also that thou shouldest not sinne against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touche her.
Şi Dumnezeu i-a spus într-un vis: Da, ştiu că ai făcut aceasta în integritatea inimii tale, pentru că de asemenea te-am oprit de la păcătuire împotriva mea; de aceea nu te-am lăsat să o atingi.
7 Now then deliuer the man his wife againe: for he is a Prophet, and he shall pray for thee that thou mayest liue: but if thou deliuer her not againe, be sure that thou shalt die the death, thou, and all that thou hast.
De aceea acum dă înapoi bărbatului pe soţia lui; căci este profet şi se va ruga pentru tine şi vei trăi; dar dacă nu o dai înapoi, să ştii că vei muri negreşit, tu şi toţi ai tăi.
8 Then Abimelech rising vp early in ye morning, called all his seruants, and tolde all these things vnto them, and the men were sore afraid.
Astfel Abimelec s-a sculat devreme dimineaţa şi a chemat pe toţi servitorii săi şi a spus toate aceste lucruri în urechile lor şi oamenii s-au temut foarte tare.
9 Afterward Abimelech called Abraham, and said vnto him, What hast thou done vnto vs? and what haue I offeded thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdome this great sinne? thou hast done things vnto me that ought not to be done.
Apoi Abimelec l-a chemat pe Avraam şi i-a spus: Ce ne-ai făcut? Şi cu ce te-am ofensat că ai adus asupra mea şi a împărăţiei mele un mare păcat? Tu mi-ai făcut lucruri care nu trebuiau făcute.
10 So Abimelech said vnto Abraham, What sawest thou that thou hast done this thing?
Şi Abimelec i-a spus lui Avraam: Ce ai văzut, de ai făcut acest lucru?
11 Then Abraham answered, Because I thought thus, Surely the feare of God is not in this place, and they will slay me for my wiues sake.
Şi Avraam a spus: Pentru că am gândit: Cu adevărat teama de Dumnezeu nu este în acest loc; şi mă vor ucide din cauza soţiei mele.
12 Yet in very deede she is my sister: for she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she is my wife.
Şi totuşi într-adevăr ea este sora mea; ea este fiica tatălui meu, dar nu este fiica mamei mele; şi ea a devenit soţia mea.
13 Nowe when God caused me to wander out of my fathers house, I said then to her, This is thy kindnes that thou shalt shewe vnto me in all places where we come, Say thou of me, He is my brother.
Şi s-a întâmplat, pe când Dumnezeu m-a făcut să rătăcesc din casa tatălui meu, că i-am spus: Aceasta să fie bunăvoinţa ta pe care să mi-o arăţi; în fiecare loc unde vom ajunge, spune despre mine: El este fratele meu.
14 Then tooke Abimelech sheepe and beeues, and men seruants, and women seruants, and gaue them vnto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
Şi Abimelec a luat oi şi boi şi servitori şi servitoare şi i-a dat lui Avraam; şi i-a dat înapoi pe Sara, soţia sa.
15 And Abimelech saide, Beholde, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.
Şi Abimelec a spus: Iată, ţara mea este înaintea ta, locuieşte unde îţi place.
16 Likewise to Sarah he said, Beholde, I haue giuen thy brother a thousand pieces of siluer: behold, he is the vaile of thine eyes to all that are with thee, and to all others: and she was thus reproued.
Şi Sarei i-a spus: Iată, am dat fratelui tău o mie de arginţi; iată, el îţi este o acoperitoare a ochilor, pentru toţi cei ce sunt cu tine şi cu toţi ceilalţi; astfel a fost ea mustrată.
17 Then Abraham prayed vnto God, and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his women seruants: and they bare children.
Astfel Avraam s-a rugat lui Dumnezeu, şi Dumnezeu a vindecat pe Abimelec şi pe soţia lui şi pe servitoarele lui; şi ele au născut copii.
18 For the Lord had shut vp euery wombe of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.
Pentru că DOMNUL a închis de tot toate pântecele femeilor din casa lui Abimelec, din cauza Sarei, soţia lui Avraam.
