Genesis 2
1 Thus the heauens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Et ainsi furent achevés les cieux et la terre et toute leur armée.
2 For in the seuenth day GOD ended his worke which he had made, and the seuenth day he rested from al his worke, which he had made.
Et Dieu acheva le septième jour son œuvre qu'il avait faite, et Il se reposa le septième jour de toute son œuvre qu'Il avait faite.
3 So God blessed the seuenth day, and sanctified it, because that in it he had rested from all his worke, which God had created and made.
Et Dieu bénit le septième jour et le consacra, parce que ce jour-là Il se reposa de toute son œuvre qu'il avait créée en agissant.
4 These are the generations of the heauens and of the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heauens,
C'est ici l'histoire des cieux et de la terre lors de leur création, lorsque l'Éternel Dieu fit les cieux et la terre.
5 And euery plant of the fielde, before it was in the earth, and euery herbe of the field, before it grewe: for the Lord God had not caused it to raine vpon the earth, neither was there a man to till the ground,
Or, tous les arbustes des champs n'étaient point encore sur la terre, et toutes les plantes des champs n'avaient pas germé; car l'Éternel Dieu n'avait pas encore fait pleuvoir sur la terre; et il n'existait point d'homme pour travailler le sol.
6 But a myst went vp from the earth, and watered all the earth.
Mais un brouillard s'élevait de la terre et imbibait toute la surface du sol.
7 The Lord God also made the man of the dust of the grounde, and breathed in his face breath of life, and the man was a liuing soule.
Alors l'Éternel Dieu forma l'homme de la poudre de la terre, et Il souffla dans ses narines l'haleine de la vie, et l'homme devint une personne vivante.
8 And the Lord God planted a garden Eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had made.
Et l'Éternel Dieu planta un jardin en Eden vers l'Orient, et Il y établit l'homme qu'il avait formé.
9 (For out of the ground made the Lord God to grow euery tree pleasant to the sight, and good for meate: the tree of life also in the mids of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and of euill.
Et l'Éternel Dieu fit germer du sol toutes sortes d'arbres agréables à la vue et bons pour la nourriture, et l'arbre de la vie au milieu du jardin et l'arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal.
10 And out of Eden went a riuer to water the garden, and from thence it was deuided, and became into foure heads.
Et un fleuve sortait d'Eden pour arroser le jardin; et depuis là il se divisait et formait quatre bras.
11 The name of one is Pishon: the same compasseth the whole land of Hauilah, where is golde.
Le nom du premier est Pison: il entoure tout le pays de Havila, où est l'or;
12 And the golde of that land is good: there is Bdelium, and the Onix stone.
et l'or de ce pays-là est bon: là se trouve le bdellium et la pierre d'onyx.
13 And the name of the seconde riuer is Gihon: the same compasseth the whole lande of Cush.
Et le nom du second fleuve est Gihon: il entoure tout le pays de Cus.
14 The name also of the third riuer is Hiddekel: this goeth toward the Eastside of Asshur: and the fourth riuer is Perath)
Et le nom du troisième fleuve est Hiddekel; il coule à l'orient d'Assur. Et le quatrième fleuve c'est le Phrath.
15 Then the Lord God tooke the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, that he might dresse it and keepe it.
Et l'Éternel Dieu prit l'homme, et l'établit dans le jardin d'Eden pour le cultiver et pour le garder.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Thou shalt eate freely of euery tree of the garden,
Et l'Éternel Dieu imposa un commandement à l'homme en ces termes: Tu peux manger de tous les arbres du jardin;
17 But of the tree of knowledge of good and euill, thou shalt not eate of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt die the death.
mais de l'arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal, tu n'en mangeras pas, car le jour où tu en mangeras, de mort tu mourras.
18 Also the Lord God saide, It is not good that the man should be himself alone: I wil make him an helpe meete for him.
Et l'Éternel Dieu dit: Il n'est pas bon que l'homme soit seul; je lui ferai une aide qui lui corresponde.
19 So the Lord God formed of the earth euery beast of the fielde, and euery foule of the heauen, and brought them vnto the man to see howe he would call them: for howsoeuer the man named the liuing creature, so was the name thereof.
Puis l'Éternel Dieu forma de la terre tous les animaux des champs et tous les oiseaux des cieux, et Il les amena à l'homme pour voir quel nom il leur donnerait, et tous les noms que l'homme leur donnerait, aux animaux vivants, devaient rester leurs noms.
20 The man therefore gaue names vnto all cattell, and to the foule of the heauen, and to euery beast of the fielde: but for Adam founde he not an helpe meete for him.
Et l'homme nomma de noms tous les bestiaux et tous les oiseaux des cieux, et toutes les bêtes des champs; mais pour l'homme il ne trouva pas d'aide qui lui correspondît.
21 Therefore the Lord God caused an heauie sleepe to fall vpon the man, and he slept: and he tooke one of his ribbes, and closed vp the flesh in steade thereof.
Alors l'Éternel Dieu fit tomber un profond sommeil sur l'homme, qui s'endormit; et Il prit l'une de ses côtes, et referma les chairs en son lieu.
22 And the ribbe which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her to the man.
Et l'Etemel Dieu bâtit en femme la côte qu'il avait prise de l'homme, et Il l'amena à l'homme.
23 Then the man said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shalbe called woman, because she was taken out of man.
Alors l'homme dit: Cette fois, c'est os de mes os, chair de ma chair! On l'appellera femme-d'homme, parce qu'elle a été prise de l'homme.
24 Therefore shall man leaue his father and his mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
C'est pourquoi un homme quittera son père et sa mère pour s'attacher à sa femme, et ils formeront une seule chair.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Et ils étaient les deux nus, l'homme et sa femme, et ils n'en avaient point de honte.
