Genesis 18
1 Againe the Lord appeared vnto him in the plaine of Mamre, as he sate in his tent doore about the heate of the day.
Después Yavé se le apareció [a Abraham] en el robledal de Mamre cuando él estaba sentado en la puerta de la tienda en el intenso calor del día.
2 And he lift vp his eyes, and looked: and lo, three men stoode by him, and when he sawe them, he ranne to meete them from the tent doore, and bowed himselfe to the grounde.
Cuando levantó sus ojos miró, y ahí estaban tres varones en pie frente a él. Tan pronto como los vio, corrió a su encuentro desde la puerta de su tienda y se postró en tierra.
3 And he said, Lord, if I haue now founde fauour in thy sight, goe not, I pray thee, from thy seruant.
Y exclamó: ʼAdón mío, si hallo gracia ante tus ojos, te ruego que no pases de largo junto a tu esclavo.
4 Let a litle water, I pray you, be brought, and wash your feete, and rest your selues vnder the tree.
Que se traiga ya un poco de agua, laven sus pies y se recuesten debajo del árbol
5 And I will bring a morsell of bread, that you may comfort your hearts, afterward ye shall go your wayes: for therefore are ye come to your seruant. And they said, Do euen as thou hast said.
mientras tomo un trozo de pan para que sustenten sus corazones. Luego seguirán adelante, pues por eso pasaron junto a su esclavo. Contestaron: Haz como dijiste.
6 Then Abraham made haste into the tent vnto Sarah, and saide, Make ready at once three measures of fine meale: kneade it, and make cakes vpon the hearth.
Abraham se apresuró a entrar en la tienda de Sara y le dijo: ¡Toma pronto tres medidas de flor de harina, amásalas y haz panes!
7 And Abraham ranne to the beastes, and tooke a tender and good calfe, and gaue it to the seruant, who hasted to make it ready.
En seguida, Abraham corrió hacia el ganado, tomó un becerro tierno y bueno y se lo dio al esclavo. Éste se apresuró a aderezarlo.
8 And he tooke butter and milke, and the calfe, which he had prepared, and set before them, and stoode himselfe by them vnder the tree, and they did eate.
Juntamente con el becerro que aderezó, [Abraham] tomó también cuajada y leche, y lo presentó ante ellos. Mientras él se mantenía en pie junto a ellos debajo del árbol, ellos comían.
9 Then they saide to him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he answered, Beholde, she is in the tent.
Después le dijeron: ¿Dónde está tu esposa Sara? Y él contestó: Ahí está en la tienda.
10 And he saide, I will certainely come againe vnto thee according to ye time of life: and loe, Sarah thy wife shall haue a sonne. and Sarah heard in the tent doore, which was behinde him.
Y dijo: Volveré a ti sin falta según el tiempo de la vida, y tu esposa Sara tendrá un hijo. Y Sara escuchaba en la entrada de la tienda, pues estaba detrás de él.
11 (Nowe Abraham and Sarah were old and striken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the maner of women)
Abraham y Sara eran ancianos, entrados en días, y a Sara le había cesado la costumbre de las mujeres.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within her selfe, saying, After I am waxed olde, and my lord also, shall I haue lust?
Sara se rió dentro de ella y se dijo: ¿Después que envejecí tendré deleite, cuando también mi ʼadonay es anciano?
13 And ye Lord saide vnto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah thus laugh, saying, Shall I certainely beare a childe, which am olde?
Entonces Yavé dijo a Abraham: ¿Por qué Sara se rió así? Y dijo: ¿Será cierto que daré a luz ahora cuando soy anciana?
14 (Shall any thing be hard to the Lord? at the time appointed will I returne vnto thee, euen according to the time of life, and Sarah shall haue a sonne.)
¿Hay algo imposible para Yavé? Volveré a ti según el tiempo de la vida, y Sara tendrá un hijo.
15 But Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not: for she was afraide. And he said, It is not so: for thou laughedst.
Pero Sara negó y dijo: No me reí, pues tuvo miedo. Pero Él dijo: No, realmente te reíste.
16 Afterwarde the men did rise vp from thence and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
Al levantarse de allí aquellos varones dirigieron la mirada hacia Sodoma, y Abraham fue con ellos para despedirlos.
17 And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I doe,
Yavé se dijo: ¿Encubriré a Abraham lo que voy a hacer?
18 Seeing that Abraham shalbe in deede a great and a mightie nation, and all the nations of the earth shalbe blessed in him?
Porque ciertamente Abraham será una nación grande y fuerte, y en él serán bendecidas todas las naciones de la tierra.
19 For I knowe him that he will commande his sonnes and his houshold after him, that they keepe the way of the Lord, to doe righteousnesse and iudgement, that the Lord may bring vpon Abraham that he hath spoken vnto him.
Porque lo escogí para que instruya a sus hijos, a su casa y a sus sucesores a mantenerse en el camino de Yavé, y practicar justicia y justo juicio a fin de que cumpla Yavé sobre Abraham todo cuanto predijo con respecto a él.
20 Then the Lord saide, Because the crie of Sodom and Gomorah is great, and because their sinne is exceeding grieuous,
Y Yavé dijo: Por cuanto el clamor contra Sodoma y Gomorra es grande y su pecado se agravó grandemente,
21 I will goe downe nowe, and see whether they haue done altogether according to that crie which is come vnto me: and if not, that I may knowe.
descenderé ahora y veré si en todo obraron según el clamor que llega hasta Mí, y si no, lo sabré.
22 And the men turned thence and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stoode yet before the Lord.
Luego los varones salieron y se encaminaron hacia Sodoma, pero Yavé se quedó aún con Abraham.
23 Then Abraham drewe neere, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
Entonces, al acercarse, Abraham preguntó: ¿Destruirás al justo con el perverso?
24 If there be fiftie righteous within the citie, wilt thou destroy and not spare the place for the fiftie righteous that are therein?
Quizás haya 50 justos en medio de la ciudad. ¿Arrasarás y no perdonarás al lugar por amor a los 50 justos que estén en medio de ella?
25 Be it farre from thee from doing this thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be euen as the wicked, be it farre from thee. shall not the Iudge of all the worlde doe right?
¡Lejos de ti hacer tal cosa! ¿Que muera el justo con el perverso, y que el justo sea como el perverso? ¡Lejos de Ti! ¿El Juez de toda la tierra no hará justicia?
26 And the Lord answered, If I shall finde in Sodom fiftie righteous within the citie, then will I spare all the place for their sakes.
Y Yavé dijo: Si hallo 50 justos en la ciudad, entonces perdonaré a todo el lugar por causa de ellos.
27 Then Abraham answered and said, Behold nowe, I haue begun to speake vnto my Lord, and I am but dust and ashes.
Abraham respondió: En verdad, aunque soy polvo y ceniza, ahora cuando me atrevo a hablar con mi ʼAdón,
28 If there shall lacke fiue of fiftie righteous, wilt thou destroy all the citie for fiue? And he saide, If I finde there fiue and fourtie, I will not destroy it.
quizás falten cinco de los 50 justos. ¿Destruirás por cinco a toda la ciudad? Y Yavé dijo: No la destruiré si hallo allí 45.
29 And he yet spake to him againe, and saide, What if there shalbe found fourtie there? Then he answered, I will not doe it for fourties sake.
Volvió a hablarle: Quizás se encuentren allí 40. Y Yavé respondió: No lo haré por causa de los 40.
30 Againe he said, Let not my Lord nowe be angry, that I speake, What if thirtie be founde there? Then he saide, I will not doe it, if I finde thirtie there.
Entonces [Abraham] dijo: No se enoje ahora mi ʼAdonay, si hablo. Quizás se hallen allí 30. Y Yavé respondió: No actuaré si hallo allí 30.
31 Moreouer he said, Behold, now I haue begonne to speake vnto my Lord, What if twentie be founde there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for twenties sake.
Y dijo: En verdad te ruego, al atreverme a hablar a mi ʼAdonay, quizás se hallen allí 20. Y dijo: No destruiré por causa de los 20.
32 Then he saide, Let not my Lord be nowe angrie, and I will speake but this once, What if tenne be found there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for tennes sake.
Luego [Abraham] dijo: Te ruego, no se enardezca mi ʼAdonay, y hablaré solo esta vez: Quizás se hallen allí diez. Y respondió Yavé: No la destruiré por causa de los diez.
33 And the Lord went his way when he had left communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned vnto his place.
Cuando Yavé acabó de hablar a Abraham, salió, y Abraham regresó a su lugar.
