Genesis 18
1 Againe the Lord appeared vnto him in the plaine of Mamre, as he sate in his tent doore about the heate of the day.
És megjelent neki az Örökkévaló Mámré tölgyeinél, ő pedig ült a sátor bejáratában, a nap hevében.
2 And he lift vp his eyes, and looked: and lo, three men stoode by him, and when he sawe them, he ranne to meete them from the tent doore, and bowed himselfe to the grounde.
És fölvetette szemeit és látta, hogy íme, három férfiú áll előtte; midőn látta, elébük futott a sátor bejáratából és meghajolt a földig.
3 And he said, Lord, if I haue now founde fauour in thy sight, goe not, I pray thee, from thy seruant.
És mondta: Uram, ha ugyan kegyet találtam szemeidben, ne vonulj el, kérlek, szolgád mellett.
4 Let a litle water, I pray you, be brought, and wash your feete, and rest your selues vnder the tree.
Hadd hozzanak egy kis vizet, mossátok meg lábaitokat és dőljetek le a fa alatt.
5 And I will bring a morsell of bread, that you may comfort your hearts, afterward ye shall go your wayes: for therefore are ye come to your seruant. And they said, Do euen as thou hast said.
Én pedig hadd vegyek egy darab kenyeret, hogy felüdítsétek szíveteket, azután elvonulhattok, mivelhogy elvonultok szolgátok mellett. És ők mondták: Tégy úgy, amint szóltál.
6 Then Abraham made haste into the tent vnto Sarah, and saide, Make ready at once three measures of fine meale: kneade it, and make cakes vpon the hearth.
És besietett Ábrahám a sátorba Sárához és mondta: Siess, három mérték lánglisztet! gyúrd meg és készíts lepényeket.
7 And Abraham ranne to the beastes, and tooke a tender and good calfe, and gaue it to the seruant, who hasted to make it ready.
A marhához pedig futott Ábrahám és vett egy fiatal marhát, gyengét és jót, átadta azt a legénynek és az sietve elkészítette.
8 And he tooke butter and milke, and the calfe, which he had prepared, and set before them, and stoode himselfe by them vnder the tree, and they did eate.
És vett vajat és tejet, meg a fiatal marhát, melyet elkészített és elébük tette; ő pedig állt mellettük a fa alatt és ők ettek.
9 Then they saide to him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he answered, Beholde, she is in the tent.
És mondták neki: Hol van Sára, a te feleséged? És ő mondta: Íme, a sátorban.
10 And he saide, I will certainely come againe vnto thee according to ye time of life: and loe, Sarah thy wife shall haue a sonne. and Sarah heard in the tent doore, which was behinde him.
Az pedig mondta: Visszatérek majd hozzád jövőre ilyenkor és íme, fia lesz Sárának, a te feleségednek; és Sára hallotta a sátor bejáratából, ez ugyanis mögötte volt.
11 (Nowe Abraham and Sarah were old and striken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the maner of women)
Ábrahám és Sára öregek voltak, előrehaladt korúak; megszűnt lenni Sárának a nők módja szerint.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within her selfe, saying, After I am waxed olde, and my lord also, shall I haue lust?
És nevetett Sára magában, mondván: Miután elfonnyadtam, legyen vágyam? és uram öreg!
13 And ye Lord saide vnto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah thus laugh, saying, Shall I certainely beare a childe, which am olde?
És mondta az Örökkévaló Ábrahámnak: Miért is nevetett Sára, mondván: Vajon valóban szülők-e holott megöregedtem?
14 (Shall any thing be hard to the Lord? at the time appointed will I returne vnto thee, euen according to the time of life, and Sarah shall haue a sonne.)
Vajon lehetetlen-e az Örökkévalónak valami! A kitűzött időben visszatérek majd hozzád jövőre ilyenkor és Sárának fia lesz.
15 But Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not: for she was afraide. And he said, It is not so: for thou laughedst.
Sára pedig tagadta, mondván: Nem nevettem; mert félt. Ő pedig mondta: Nem, bizony nevettél.
16 Afterwarde the men did rise vp from thence and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
És fölkerekedtek onnan a férfiak és Szodoma felé tekintettek; Ábrahám pedig velük ment, hogy elkísérje őket.
17 And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I doe,
És az Örökkévaló mondta: Vajon eltitkoljam-e Ábrahám előtt, amit tenni akarok?
18 Seeing that Abraham shalbe in deede a great and a mightie nation, and all the nations of the earth shalbe blessed in him?
Hisz Ábrahám nagy és hatalmas néppé lesz és megáldatnak általa a föld összes népei.
19 For I knowe him that he will commande his sonnes and his houshold after him, that they keepe the way of the Lord, to doe righteousnesse and iudgement, that the Lord may bring vpon Abraham that he hath spoken vnto him.
Mert megismertem őt, hogy meg fogja parancsolni az ő fiainak és az ő házának maga után, hogy őrizzék meg az Örökkévaló útját, cselekedvén igazságot és jogot, hogy elhozza az Örökkévaló Ábrahámra, amit szólt róla.
20 Then the Lord saide, Because the crie of Sodom and Gomorah is great, and because their sinne is exceeding grieuous,
És mondta az Örökkévaló: A jajkiáltás Szodoma és Gomorrha miatt bizony megsokasodott és az ő bűnük bizony nagyon súlyos lett.
21 I will goe downe nowe, and see whether they haue done altogether according to that crie which is come vnto me: and if not, that I may knowe.
Hadd szálljak alá és lássam, vajon a jajkiáltás szerint, mely hozzám eljutott, cselekedtek-e egészen? és ha nem, hadd tudjam meg!
22 And the men turned thence and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stoode yet before the Lord.
És elfordultak onnan a férfiak és mentek Szodomába; Ábrahám pedig még állt az Örökkévaló színe előtt.
23 Then Abraham drewe neere, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
És odalépett Ábrahám és mondta: Vajon elpusztítod-e az igazat a gonosszal?
24 If there be fiftie righteous within the citie, wilt thou destroy and not spare the place for the fiftie righteous that are therein?
Talán van ötven igaz a városban, vajon akkor is elpusztítod-e és nem bocsátasz meg a helységnek az ötven igaz miatt, akik közepette vannak?
25 Be it farre from thee from doing this thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be euen as the wicked, be it farre from thee. shall not the Iudge of all the worlde doe right?
Távol legyen tőled, hogy cselekedj ilyen dolgot, hogy megöld az igazat a gonosszal és hogy az igaz olyan legyen, mint a gonosz, távol legyen tőled! Az egész föld bírája ne cselekednék igazságot?
26 And the Lord answered, If I shall finde in Sodom fiftie righteous within the citie, then will I spare all the place for their sakes.
És mondta az Örökkévaló: Ha találok Szodomában ötven igazat, a városban, úgy megbocsátok az egész helységnek miattuk.
27 Then Abraham answered and said, Behold nowe, I haue begun to speake vnto my Lord, and I am but dust and ashes.
De Ábrahám felelt és mondta: Íme, kérlek, elkezdtem szólni Uramhoz, pedig én por és hamu vagyok.
28 If there shall lacke fiue of fiftie righteous, wilt thou destroy all the citie for fiue? And he saide, If I finde there fiue and fourtie, I will not destroy it.
Talán hiányoznak az ötven igazból öten, vajon elpusztítod-e az öt miatt az egész várost? És Ő mondta: Nem fogom elpusztítani, ha találok ott negyvenötöt.
29 And he yet spake to him againe, and saide, What if there shalbe found fourtie there? Then he answered, I will not doe it for fourties sake.
És ismét szólt még hozzá (Ábrahám) és mondta: Talán találtatnak ott negyvenen? És Ő mondta: Nem teszem a negyven miatt.
30 Againe he said, Let not my Lord nowe be angry, that I speake, What if thirtie be founde there? Then he saide, I will not doe it, if I finde thirtie there.
És (Ábrahám) mondta: Ne haragudjék az én Uram, hadd szóljak; talán találtatnak ott harmincan? És Ő mondta: Nem teszem, ha találok ott harmincat.
31 Moreouer he said, Behold, now I haue begonne to speake vnto my Lord, What if twentie be founde there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for twenties sake.
És (Ábrahám) mondta: Íme, kérlek, elkezdtem szólni Uramhoz, talán találtatnak ott húszan? És Ő mondta: Nem pusztítom el a húsz miatt.
32 Then he saide, Let not my Lord be nowe angrie, and I will speake but this once, What if tenne be found there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for tennes sake.
De (Ábrahám) mondta: Ne haragudjék az én Uram, hadd szóljak még ez egyszer; talán találtatnak ott tízen? És Ő mondta: Nem pusztítom el a tíz miatt.
33 And the Lord went his way when he had left communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned vnto his place.
És elment az Örökkévaló, miután végzett azzal, hogy beszéljen Ábrahámmal; Ábrahám pedig visszatért helyére.
