Genesis 17

1 When Abram was ninetie yeere olde and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said vnto him, I am God all sufficient. walke before me, and be thou vpright,

Avram doksan dokuz yaşındayken RAB ona görünerek, “Ben Her Şeye Gücü Yeten Tanrı'yım” dedi, “Benim yolumda yürü, kusursuz ol.

2 And I will make my couenant betweene me and thee, and I will multiplie thee exceedingly.

Seninle yaptığım antlaşmayı sürdürecek, soyunu alabildiğine çoğaltacağım.”

3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,

Avram yüzüstü yere kapandı. Tanrı,

4 Beholde, I make my couenant with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations,

“Seninle yaptığım antlaşma şudur” dedi, “Birçok ulusun babası olacaksın.

5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shalbe Abraham: for a father of many nations haue I made thee.

Artık adın Avram değil, İbrahim olacak. Çünkü seni birçok ulusun babası yapacağım.

6 Also I will make thee exceeding fruitfull, and will make nations of thee: yea, Kings shall proceede of thee.

Seni çok verimli kılacağım. Soyundan uluslar doğacak, krallar çıkacak.

7 Moreouer I wil establish my couenant betweene me and thee, and thy seede after thee in their generations, for an euerlasting couenant, to be God vnto thee and to thy seede after thee.

Antlaşmamı seninle ve soyunla kuşaklar boyunca, sonsuza dek sürdüreceğim. Senin, senden sonra da soyunun Tanrısı olacağım.

8 And I will giue thee and thy seede after thee the land, wherein thou art a stranger, euen all the land of Canaan, for an euerlasting possession, and I will be their God.

Bir yabancı olarak yaşadığın toprakları, bütün Kenan ülkesini sonsuza dek mülkünüz olmak üzere sana ve soyuna vereceğim. Onların Tanrısı olacağım.”

9 Againe God said vnto Abraham, Thou also shalt keepe my couenant, thou, and thy seede after thee in their generations.

Tanrı İbrahim'e, “Sen ve soyun kuşaklar boyu antlaşmama bağlı kalmalısınız” dedi,

10 This is my couenant which ye shall keepe betweene me and you, and thy seede after thee, Let euery man childe among you be circumcised:

“Seninle ve soyunla yaptığım antlaşmanın koşulu şudur: Aranızdaki erkeklerin hepsi sünnet edilecek.

11 That is, ye shall circumcise the foreskin of your flesh, and it shalbe a signe of the couenant betweene me and you.

Sünnet olmalısınız. Sünnet aramızdaki antlaşmanın belirtisi olacak.

12 And euery man childe of eight dayes olde among you, shalbe circumcised in your generations, aswell he that is borne in thine house, as he that is bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seede.

Evinizde doğmuş ya da soyunuzdan olmayan bir yabancıdan satın alınmış köleler dahil sekiz günlük her erkek çocuk sünnet edilecek. Gelecek kuşaklarınız boyunca sürecek bu.

13 He that is borne in thine house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needes be circumcised: so my couenant shall be in your flesh for an euerlasting couenant.

Evinizde doğan ya da satın aldığınız her çocuk kesinlikle sünnet edilecek. Bedeninizdeki bu belirti sonsuza dek sürecek antlaşmamın simgesi olacak.

14 But the vncircumcised man childe, in whose flesh the foreskin is not circumcised, euen that person shall be cut off from his people, because he hath broken my couenant.

Sünnet edilmemiş her erkek halkının arasından atılacak, çünkü antlaşmamı bozmuş demektir.”

15 Afterward God said vnto Abraham, Sarai thy wife shalt thou not call Sarai, but Sarah shalbe her name.

Tanrı, “Karın Saray'a gelince, ona artık Saray demeyeceksin” dedi, “Bundan böyle onun adı Sara olacak.

16 And I will blesse her, and will also giue thee a sonne of her, yea, I will blesse her, and she shall be the mother of nations: Kings also of people shall come of her.

Onu kutsayacak, ondan sana bir oğul vereceğim. Onu kutsayacağım, ulusların anası olacak. Halkların kralları onun soyundan çıkacak.”

17 Then Abraham fell vpon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a childe be borne vnto him, that is an hundreth yeere olde? and shall Sarah that is ninetie yeere olde beare?

İbrahim yüzüstü yere kapandı ve güldü. İçinden, “Yüz yaşında bir adam çocuk sahibi olabilir mi?” dedi, “Doksan yaşındaki Sara doğurabilir mi?”

18 And Abraham saide vnto God, Oh, that Ishmael might liue in thy sight.

Sonra Tanrı'ya, “Keşke İsmail'i mirasçım kabul etseydin!” dedi.

19 Then God saide, Sarah thy wife shall beare thee a sonne in deede, and thou shalt call his name Izhak: and I will establish my couenant with him for an euerlasting couenant, and with his seede after him.

Tanrı, “Hayır. Ama karın Sara sana bir oğul doğuracak, adını İshak koyacaksın” dedi, “Onunla ve soyuyla antlaşmamı sonsuza dek sürdüreceğim.

20 And as concerning Ishmael, I haue heard thee: loe, I haue blessed him, and will make him fruitfull, and will multiplie him exceedingly: twelue princes shall he beget, and I will make a great nation of him.

İsmail'e gelince, seni işittim. Onu kutsayacak, verimli kılacak, soyunu alabildiğine çoğaltacağım. On iki beyin babası olacak. Soyunu büyük bir ulus yapacağım.

21 But my couenant will I establish with Izhak, which Sarah shall beare vnto thee, the next yeere at this season.

Ancak antlaşmamı gelecek yıl bu zaman Sara'nın doğuracağı oğlun İshak'la sürdüreceğim.”

22 And he left off talking with him, and God went vp from Abraham.

Tanrı İbrahim'le konuşmasını bitirince ondan ayrılıp yukarıya çekildi.

23 Then Abraham tooke Ishmael his sonne and all that were borne in his house, and all that was bought with his money, that is, euery man childe among the men of Abrahams house, and he circumcised the foreskinne of their flesh in that selfe same day, as God had comaunded him.

İbrahim evindeki bütün erkekleri –oğlu İsmail'i, evinde doğanların, satın aldığı uşakların hepsini– Tanrı'nın kendisine buyurduğu gibi o gün sünnet ettirdi.

24 Abraham also himselfe was ninetie yeere olde and nine, when the foreskinne of his flesh was circumcised.

İbrahim sünnet olduğunda doksan dokuz yaşındaydı.

25 And Ishmael his sonne was thirteene yeere olde, when the foreskinne of his flesh was circumcised.

Oğlu İsmail on üç yaşında sünnet oldu.

26 The selfe same day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his sonne:

İbrahim, oğlu İsmail'le aynı gün sünnet edildi.

27 And all the men of his house, both borne in his house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

İbrahim'in evindeki bütün erkekler –evinde doğanlar ve yabancılardan satın alınanlar– onunla birlikte sünnet oldu.
