Genesis 11
1 Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
Tenía la tierra entera una misma lengua y las mismas palabras.
2 And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
Mas cuando (los hombres) emigrando desde el Oriente hallaron una llanura en la tierra de Sinear, donde se establecieron,
3 And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
se dijeron unos a otros: “Vamos, fabriquemos ladrillos, y cozámoslos bien.” Y les sirvió el ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y el betún les sirvió de argamasa.
4 Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
Y dijeron, pues: “Vamos, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre, cuya cumbre llegue hasta el cielo; hagámonos un monumento para que no nos dispersemos sobre la superficie de toda la tierra.”
5 But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
Pero Yahvé descendió a ver la ciudad y la torre que estaban construyendo los hijos de los hombres.
6 And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
Y dijo Yahvé: “He aquí que son un solo pueblo y tienen todos una misma lengua. ¡Y esto es solo el comienzo de sus obras! Ahora, nada les impedirá realizar sus propósitos.
7 Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
Ea, pues, descendamos, y confundamos allí mismo su lengua, de modo que no entienda uno el habla del otro.”
8 So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
Así los dispersó Yahvé de allí por la superficie de toda la tierra; y cesaron de edificar la ciudad.
9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
Por tanto se le dio el nombre de Babel; porque allí confundió Yahvé la lengua de toda la tierra; y de allí los dispersó Yahvé sobre la faz de todo el orbe.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
Estos son los descendientes de Sem. Sem tenía cien años cuando engendró a Arfaxad, dos años después del diluvio.
11 And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Vivió Sem, después de haber engendrado a Arfaxad, quinientos años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
12 Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
Arfaxad tenía treinta y cinco cuando engendró a Sálah.
13 And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Arfaxad, después de haber engendrado a Sálah, cuatrocientos tres años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
14 And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
Sálah tenía treinta años cuando engendró a Éber.
15 So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Sálah, después de haber engendrado a Éber, cuatrocientos tres años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
16 Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
Éber tenía treinta y cuatro años cuando engendró a Fáleg.
17 So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
Y vivió Éber, después de engendrar a Fáleg, cuatrocientos treinta años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
18 And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
Fáleg tenía treinta años cuando engendró a Reú.
19 And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Fáleg, después de haber engendrado a Reú, doscientos nueve años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
20 Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
Reú tenía treinta y dos años cuando engendró a Sarug.
21 So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Reú, después de haber engendrado a Sarug, doscientos siete años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
22 Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
Sarog tenía treinta años cuando engendró a Nacor.
23 And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Sarug, después de haber engendrado a Nacor, doscientos años y engendró hijos e hijas.
24 And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
Nacor tenía veinte y nueve años cuando engendró a Táreh.
25 So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
Y vivió Nacor, después de haber engendrado a Táreh, ciento diez y nueve años; y engendró hijos e hijas.
26 So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Táreh tenía setenta años cuando engendró a Abram, a Nacor y a Aram.
27 Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
Estos son los descendientes de Táreh. Táreh engendró a Abram, a Nacor y a Aram; Aram engendró a Lot.
28 Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
Y murió Aram, antes de su padre Táreh, en el país de su nacimiento, en Ur de los caldeos.
29 So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
Abram y Nacor tomaron para sí mujeres. El nombre de la mujer de Abram era Sarai, y el nombre de la mujer de Nacor, Milcá, hija de Aram, padre de Milcá y padre de Jescá.
30 But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
Era Sarai estéril y no tenía hijo.
31 Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
Y tomó Táreh a Abram su hijo, y a Lot, hijo de su hijo de Aram, su nieto, y a Sarai, su nuera, mujer de su hijo Abram; y salieron juntos de Ur de los caldeos, para dirigirse al país de Canaán. Y llegaron a Harán, donde se quedaron.
32 So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
Y fueron los días de Táreh doscientos cinco años; y murió Táreh en Harán.
