Genesis 11
1 Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
ലോകംമുഴുവനും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ സംസാരരീതിയും ആയിരുന്നു.
2 And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
മനുഷ്യർ പൂർവദിക്കിലേക്കു നീങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ശിനാർ ദേശത്ത് ഒരു സമതലഭൂമി കണ്ടെത്തുകയും അവിടെ സ്ഥിരവാസം ആരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
3 And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
“വരൂ, നമുക്ക് ഇഷ്ടികയുണ്ടാക്കി ശരിക്കും ചുട്ടെടുക്കാം,” അവർ പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ കല്ലിനുപകരം ഇഷ്ടികയും കുമ്മായത്തിനു പകരം പശമണ്ണും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.
4 Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
പിന്നെ അവർ, “വരിക, നാം ഭൂതലത്തിലെല്ലാം ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിക്കാൻ നമുക്ക് ഒരു പട്ടണവും നാം പ്രസിദ്ധരായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന് ആകാശംവരെ എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും നിർമിക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5 But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
എന്നാൽ, മനുഷ്യർ പണിതുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണാൻ യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.
6 And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: “ഒരേ ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരേ ജനതയായ ഇവർ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയെങ്കിൽ അവർ ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു കാര്യവും അവർക്ക് അസാധ്യമാകുകയില്ല.
7 Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
വരിക, നമുക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന്, അവർ ആശയവിനിമയം ചെയ്യുന്നത് പരസ്പരം മനസ്സിലാക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളയാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8 So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്ന് ഭൂമിയിൽ എല്ലായിടത്തുമായി ചിതറിച്ചു; അവർ പട്ടണനിർമാണം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
യഹോവ ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകലമനുഷ്യരുടെയും ഭാഷ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ട് ആ പട്ടണത്തിന് ബാബേൽ എന്നു പേരായി. അവിടെനിന്നു യഹോവ അവരെ ഭൂതലത്തിൽ എല്ലായിടത്തുമായി ചിതറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യം ഇപ്രകാരമാണ്: പ്രളയം കഴിഞ്ഞു രണ്ടു വർഷമായപ്പോൾ, അതായതു ശേമിനു നൂറ് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അർപ്പക്ഷാദ് ജനിച്ചു.
11 And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
അർപ്പക്ഷാദിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറ് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
12 Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനു മുപ്പത്തിയഞ്ച് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ശേലഹ് ജനിച്ചു.
13 And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
ശേലഹിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം അർപ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്ന് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
14 And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
ശേലഹിനു മുപ്പത് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഏബെർ ജനിച്ചു.
15 So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
ഏബെരിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം ശേലഹ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്ന് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
16 Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
ഏബെരിനു മുപ്പത്തിനാല് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പേലെഗ് ജനിച്ചു.
17 So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
പേലെഗിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം ഏബെർ നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പത് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
18 And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
പേലെഗിനു മുപ്പത് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് രെയൂ ജനിച്ചു.
19 And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
രെയൂവിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരുനൂറ്റി ഒൻപത് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
20 Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
രെയൂവിനു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ട് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ശെരൂഗ് ജനിച്ചു.
21 So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
ശെരൂഗിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റിയേഴ് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
22 Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
ശെരൂഗിനു മുപ്പത് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് നാഹോർ ജനിച്ചു.
23 And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
നാഹോരിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം ശെരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറ് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
24 And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
നാഹോരിന് ഇരുപത്തിയൊൻപത് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് തേരഹ് ജനിച്ചു.
25 So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
തേരഹിന് ജന്മംനൽകിയതിനുശേഷം നാഹോർ നൂറ്റി പത്തൊൻപത് വർഷം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
26 So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
തേരഹിനു എഴുപത് വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഹാരാനും ജനിച്ചു.
27 Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യം ഇപ്രകാരമാണ്: തേരഹിൽനിന്നാണ് അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഹാരാനും ജനിച്ചത്. ഹാരാനിൽനിന്ന് ലോത്ത് ജനിച്ചു.
28 Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
ഹാരാൻ തന്റെ ജന്മദേശമായ കൽദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽവെച്ച് തന്റെ പിതാവായ തേരഹ് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾത്തന്നെ മരിച്ചു.
29 So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും വിവാഹിതരായി. അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ പേര് സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ പേര് മിൽക്കാ എന്നും ആയിരുന്നു. (സാറായി ഹാരാന്റെ മകളായിരുന്നു; അവളുടെ സഹോദരിമാരായിരുന്നു മിൽക്കയും യിസ്കയും.)
30 But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
സാറായി വന്ധ്യയായിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു കുട്ടികൾ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
31 Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
തേരഹ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ പുത്രനും തന്റെ പൗത്രനുമായ ലോത്തിനെയും അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയും തന്റെ മരുമകളുമായ സാറായിയെയുംകൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുന്നതിനു കൽദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽനിന്ന് യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; എന്നാൽ അവർ ഹാരാനിൽ എത്തി അവിടെ താമസമാക്കി.
32 So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുസ്സ് ഇരുനൂറ്റിയഞ്ച് വർഷം ആയിരുന്നു. തേരഹ് ഹാരാനിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.
