Genesis 11
1 Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
Alors toute la terre avait un même langage, et une même parole.
2 And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
Mais il arriva qu'étant partis d'Orient, ils trouvèrent une campagne au pays de Sinhar, où ils habitèrent.
3 And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Or ça, faisons des briques, et les cuisons très bien au feu. Ils eurent donc des briques au lieu de pierres, et le bitume leur fut au lieu de mortier.
4 Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
Puis ils dirent: Or ça, bâtissons-nous une ville, et une tour de laquelle le sommet soit jusqu'aux cieux; et acquérons-nous de la réputation, de peur que nous ne soyons dispersés sur toute la terre.
5 But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
Alors l'Eternel descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que les fils des hommes bâtissaient.
6 And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
Et l'Eternel dit: Voici, ce n'est qu'un seul et même peuple, ils ont un même langage, et ils commencent à travailler; et maintenant rien ne les empêchera d'exécuter ce qu'ils ont projeté.
7 Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
Or ça, descendons, et confondons là leur langage, afin qu'ils n'entendent point le langage l'un de l'autre.
8 So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
Ainsi l'Eternel les dispersa de là par toute la terre, et ils cessèrent de bâtir la ville.
9 Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
C'est pourquoi son nom fut appelé Babel; car l'Eternel y confondit le langage de toute la terre, et de là il les dispersa sur toute la terre.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
C'est ici la postérité de Sem: Sem âgé de cent ans, engendra Arpacsad, deux ans après le déluge.
11 And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Et Sem après qu'il eut engendré Arpacsad, vécut cinq cents ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
12 Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
Et Arpacsad vécut trente-cinq ans, et engendra Sélah.
13 And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Et Arpacsad après qu'il eut engendré Sélah, vécut quatre cent trois ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
14 And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
Et Sélah ayant vécu trente ans, engendra Héber.
15 So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
Et Sélah après qu'il eut engendré Héber, vécut quatre cent trois ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
16 Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
Et Héber ayant vécu trente-quatre ans, engendra Péleg.
17 So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
Et Héber après qu'il eut engendré Péleg, vécut quatre cent trente ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
18 And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
Et Péleg ayant vécu trente ans, engendra Réhu.
19 And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Et Péleg après qu'il eut engendré Réhu, vécut deux cent neuf ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
20 Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
Et Réhu ayant vécu trente-deux ans, engendra Sérug.
21 So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Et Réhu après qu'il eut engendré Sérug, vécut deux cent sept ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
22 Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
Et Sérug ayant vécu trente ans, engendra Nacor.
23 And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
Et Sérug après qu'il eut engendré Nacor, vécut deux cents ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
24 And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
Et Nacor ayant vécu vingt-neuf ans, engendra Taré.
25 So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
Et Nacor après qu'il eut engendré Taré, vécut cent dix-neuf ans, et engendra des fils et des filles.
26 So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Et Taré ayant vécu soixante-dix ans, engendra Abram, Nacor, et Haran.
27 Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
Et c'est ici la postérité de Taré: Taré engendra Abram, Nacor, et Haran; et Haran engendra Lot.
28 Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
Et Haran mourut en la présence de son père, au pays de sa naissance, à Ur des Chaldéens.
29 So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
Et Abram et Nacor prirent chacun une femme. Le nom de la femme d'Abram fut Saraï; et le nom de la femme de Nacor fut Milca, fille de Haran, père de Milca et de Jisca.
30 But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
Et Saraï était stérile, [et] n'avait point d'enfants.
31 Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
Et Taré prit son fils Abram, et Lot fils de son fils, [qui était] fils de Haran, et Saraï sa belle-fille, femme d'Abram son fils, et ils sortirent ensemble d'Ur des Chaldéens pour aller au pays de Canaan, et ils vinrent jusqu'à Caran, et y demeurèrent.
32 So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
Et les jours de Taré furent deux cent cinq ans; puis il mourut à Caran.
