Ezra 7
1 Now after these things, in the reigne of Artahshashte King of Persia, was Ezra the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Hilkiah,
Efter en tids förlopp, under den persiske konungen Artasastas regering, hände sig att Esra, son till Seraja, son till Asarja, son till Hilkia,
2 The sonne of Shallum, the sonne of Zadok, the sonne of Ahitub,
son till Sallum, son till Sadok, son till Ahitub,
3 The sonne of Amariah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Meraioth,
son till Amarja, son till Asarja, son till Merajot,
4 The sonne of Zeraiah, the sonne of Vzzi, the sonne of Bukki,
son till Seraja, son till Ussi, son till Bucki,
5 The sonne of Abishua, the sonne of Phinehas, the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron, the chiefe Priest.
son till Abisua, son till Pinehas, son till Eleasar, son till Aron, översteprästen --
6 This Ezra came vp from Babel, and was a Scribe prompt in the Lawe of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had giuen, and the King gaue him all his request according to the hande of the Lord his God which was vpon him.
det hände sig att denne Esra drog upp från Babel; han var en skriftlärd, väl förfaren i Moses lag, den som HERREN, Israels Gud, hade utgivit. Och konungen gav honom allt vad han begärde, eftersom HERRENS, hans Guds, hand var över honom.
7 And there went vp certaine of the children of Israel, and of the Priests, and the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims vnto Ierusalem, in the seuenth yere of King Artahshashte.
Också en del av Israels barn och av prästerna, leviterna, sångarna, dörrvaktarna och tempelträlarna drog upp till Jerusalem i Artasastas sjunde regeringsår.
8 And hee came to Ierusalem in the fift moneth, which was in the seuenth yeere of the King.
Och han kom till Jerusalem i femte månaden, i konungens sjunde regeringsår.
9 For vpon the first day of the first moneth began he to goe vp from Babel, and on the first day of the fift moneth came he to Ierusalem, according to the good hande of his God that was vpon him.
Ty på första dagen i första månaden blev det bestämt att man skulle draga upp från Babel; och på första dagen i femte månaden kom han till Jerusalem, eftersom Guds goda hand var över honom.
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seeke the Lawe of the Lord, and to doe it, and to teach the precepts and iudgements in Israel.
Ty Esra hade vänt sitt hjärta till att begrunda HERRENS lag och göra efter den, och till att i Israel undervisa i lag och rätt.
11 And this is the copie of the letter that King Artahshashte gaue vnto Ezra the Priest and scribe, euen a writer of the words of the commadements of ye Lord, and of his statutes ouer Israel.
Så stod nu skrivet i den skrivelse som konung Artasasta gav åt prästen Esra, den skriftlärde, som var lärd i det som HERREN hade bjudit och stadgat för Israel:
12 ARTAHSHASHTE King of Kings to Ezra the Priest and perfite scribe of the Lawe of the God of heauen, and to Cheeneth.
"Artasasta, konungarnas konung, till prästen Esra, den i himmelens Guds lag lärde, o. s. v. med övlig fortsättning.
13 I haue giuen commandement, that euery one, that is willing in my kingdome of the people of Israel, and of the Priestes, and Leuites to goe to Ierusalem with thee, shall goe.
Jag giver härmed befallning att var och en i mitt rike av Israels folk och av dess präster och leviter, som är villig att fara till Jerusalem, må fara med dig,
14 Therefore art thou sent of the King and his seuen counsellers, to enquire in Iudah and Ierusalem, according to the lawe of thy God, which is in thine hand,
alldenstund du är sänd av konungen och hans sju rådgivare till att hålla undersökning om Juda och Jerusalem efter din Guds lag, som är i din hand,
15 And to carry the siluer and the gold, which the King and his cousellers willingly offer vnto the God of Israel (whose habitation is in Ierusalem)
och till att föra dit det silver och guld som konungen och hans rådgivare av fritt beslut hava givit åt Israels Gud, vilken har sin boning i Jerusalem,
16 And all the siluer and gold that thou canst finde in all the prouince of Babel, with the free offring of the people, and that which the Priestes offer willingly to the house of their God which is in Ierusalem,
så ock allt det silver och guld som du kan få i hela Babels hövdingdöme, tillika med de frivilliga gåvor som folket och prästerna giva till sin Guds hus i Jerusalem.
17 That thou mayest bye speedily with this siluer, bullocks, rammes, lambes, with their meate offrings and their drinke offrings: and thou shalt offer them vpon the altar of the house of your God, which is in Ierusalem.
Alltså skall du nu för dessa penningar såsom en redlig man köpa tjurar, vädurar och lamm, jämte sådant som behöves till dithörande spisoffer och drickoffer; och detta skall du offra på altaret i eder Guds hus i Jerusalem.
18 And whatsoeuer it pleaseth thee and thy brethren to do with the rest of the siluer, and gold, doe ye it according to the will of your God.
Och vad du och dina bröder finnen för gott att göra med det silver och guld som bliver över, det mån I göra efter eder Guds vilja.
19 And the vessels that are giuen thee for the seruice of the house of thy God, those deliuer thou before God in Ierusalem.
Och alla de kärl som givas dig till tempeltjänsten i din Guds hus skall du avlämna inför Jerusalems Gud.
20 And the residue that shall be needeful for the house of thy God, which shall be meete for thee to bestowe, thou shalt bestowe it out of the Kings treasure house,
Och vad du måste utbetala för det som härutöver behöves till din Guds hus, det må du låta utbetala ur konungens skattkammare.
21 And I King Artahshashte haue giuen commandemet to all the treasurers which are beyond the Riuer, that whatsoeuer Ezra the Priest and Scribe of the Law of the God of heauen shall require of you, that it be done incontinently,
Och jag, konung Artasasta, giver härmed befallning till alla skattmästare i landet på andra sidan floden att allt vad prästen Esra, den i himmelens Guds lag lärde, begär av eder, det skall redligt göras och givas,
22 Vnto an hundreth talents of siluer, vnto an hundreth measures of wheate, and vnto an hundreth baths of wine, and vnto an hundreth baths of oyle, and salt without writing.
ända till hundra talenter silver, hundra korer vete, hundra bat vin och hundra bat olja, så ock salt utan särskild föreskrift.
23 Whatsoeuer is by the commandement of the God of heauen, let it be done speedily for the house of the God of heauen: for why should he be wroth against the realme of the King, and his children?
Allt vad himmelens Gud befaller skall noggrant göras och givas till himmelens Guds hus, för att icke vrede må komma över konungens och hans söners rike.
24 And we certifie you, that vpon any of the Priestes, Leuites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or Ministers in this house of God, there shall no gouernour laye vpon them tolle, tribute nor custome.
Och vi göra eder veterligt att ingen skall hava makt att lägga skatt, tull eller vägpenningar på någon präst eller levit, sångare, dörrvaktare, tempelträl eller annan tjänare i detta Guds hus.
25 And thou Ezra (after the wisedome of thy God, that is in thine hand) set iudges and arbiters, which may iudge all the people that is beyond the Riuer, euen all that knowe the Lawe of thy God, and teach ye them that know it not.
Och du, Esra, må, efter din Guds vishet, den som har blivit dig betrodd, förordna domare och lagkloke till att döma allt folket i landet på andra sidan floden, alla dem som känna din Guds lagar; och om någon icke känner dessa, skolen I lära honom dem.
26 And whosoeuer will not doe the Lawe of thy God, and the Kings lawe, let him haue iudgement without delay, whether it be vnto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
Och var och en som icke gör efter din Guds lag och konungens lag, över honom skall dom fällas med rättvisa, vare sig till död eller till landsförvisning eller till penningböter eller till fängelse."
27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which so hath put in the Kings heart, to beautifie the house of the Lord that is in Ierusalem,
Lovad vare HERREN, våra fäders Gud, som ingav konungen sådant i hjärtat, nämligen att han skulle förhärliga HERRENS hus i Jerusalem,
28 And hath enclined mercy toward me, before the King and his counsellers, and before all the Kings mightie Princes: and I was comforted by the hand of the Lord my God which was vpon me, and I gathered the chiefe of Israel to goe vp with me.
och som lät mig finna nåd inför konungen och hans rådgivare och inför alla konungens mäktiga hövdingar! Och jag kände mig frimodig, eftersom HERRENS, min Guds, hand var över mig, och jag församlade en del av huvudmännen i Israel till att draga upp med mig.
