Ezra 6
1 Then King Darius gaue commandement, and they made search in the librarie of the treasures, which were there layd vp in Babel.
Allora il re Dario ordinò che si facessero delle ricerche nella casa degli archivi dov’erano riposti i tesori a Babilonia;
2 And there was founde in a coffer (in the palace that was in the prouince of the Medes) a volume, and therein was it thus written, as a memoriall,
e nel castello d’Ahmetha, ch’è nella provincia di Media, si trovò un rotolo, nel quale stava scritto così:
3 IN THE FIRST yeere of King Cyrus, King Cyrus made a decree for the house of God in Ierusalem, Let the house be buylt, euen the place where they offred sacrifices, and let the walles thereof be ioyned together: let the height thereof be three score cubites, and the breadth thereof three score cubites,
“Memoria. Il primo anno del re Ciro, il re Ciro ha pubblicato quest’editto, concernente la casa di Dio a Gerusalemme: La casa sia riedificata per essere un luogo dove si offrono dei sacrifizi; e le fondamenta che se ne getteranno, siano solide. Abbia sessanta cubiti d’altezza, sessanta cubiti di larghezza,
4 Three orders of great stones, and one order of timber, and let the expenses be giuen of the Kings house.
tre ordini di blocchi di pietra e un ordine di travatura nuova; e la spesa sia pagata dalla casa reale.
5 And also let them render the vessels of the house of God (of golde and siluer, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, which was in Ierusalem, and brought vnto Babel) and let him goe vnto the Temple that is in Ierusalem to his place, and put them in the house of God.
E inoltre, gli utensili d’oro e d’argento della casa di Dio, che Nebucadnetsar avea tratti dal tempio di Gerusalemme e trasportati a Babilonia, siano restituiti e riportati al tempio di Gerusalemme, nel luogo dov’erano prima, e posti nella casa di Dio”.
6 Therefore Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai, (and their companions Apharsecaie, which are beyonde the Riuer) be ye farre from thence.
“Or dunque tu, Tattenai, governatore d’oltre il fiume, tu, Scethar-Boznai, e voi, loro colleghi d’Afarsak, che state di là dal fiume, statevene lontani da quel luogo!
7 Suffer ye the worke of this house of God, that the captaine of the Iewes and the Elders of the Iewes may buylde this house of God in his place.
Lasciate continuare i lavori di quella casa di Dio; il governatore de’ Giudei e gli anziani de’ Giudei riedifichino quella casa di Dio nel sito di prima.
8 For I haue giuen a commandement what ye shall doe to the Elders of these Iewes, for the buylding of this house of God, that of the reuenues of the King, which is of the tribute beyonde the Riuer, there be incontinently expenses giuen vnto these men that they cease not.
E questo è l’ordine ch’io do relativamente al vostro modo di procedere verso quegli anziani de’ Giudei nella ricostruzione di quella casa di Dio: le spese, detratte dalle entrate del re provenienti dai tributi d’oltre il fiume, siano puntualmente pagate a quegli uomini, affinché i lavori non siano interrotti.
9 And that which they shall haue neede of, let it be giuen vnto them day by day, whether it be yong bullockes, or rammes, or lambes for the burnt offrings of the God of heauen, wheate, salt, wine, and oyle, according to the appoyntment of the Priestes that are in Ierusalem, that there bee no fault,
E le cose necessarie per gli olocausti all’Iddio dei cieli: vitelli, montoni, agnelli; e frumento, sale, vino, olio, siano forniti ai sacerdoti di Gerusalemme a loro richiesta, giorno per giorno e senza fallo,
10 That they may haue to offer sweete odours vnto the God of heauen, and praye for the Kings life, and for his sonnes.
affinché offrano sacrifizi di odor soave all’Iddio del cielo, e preghino per la vita del re e de’ suoi figliuoli.
11 And I haue made a decree, that whosoeuer shall alter this sentence, the wood shall be pulled downe from his house, and shall be set vp, and he shalbe hanged thereon, and his house shalbe made a dunghill for this.
E questo è pure l’ordine ch’io do: Se qualcuno contravverrà a questo decreto, si tragga dalla casa di lui una trave, la si rizzi, vi sia egli inchiodato sopra, e la sua casa, per questo motivo, diventi un letamaio.
12 And the God that hath caused his Name to dwell there, destroy all Kings and people that put to their hand to alter, and to destroy this house of God, which is in Ierusalem. I Darius haue made a decree, let it be done with speede.
L’Iddio che ha fatto di quel luogo la dimora del suo nome, distrugga ogni re ed ogni popolo che stendesse la mano per trasgredire la mia parola, per distruggere la casa di Dio ch’è in Gerusalemme! Io, Dario, ho emanato questo decreto: sia eseguito con ogni prontezza”.
13 Then Tatnai the captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai and their companions, according to that which Darius had sent, so they did speedily.
Allora Tattenai, governatore d’oltre il fiume, Scethar-Boznai e i loro colleghi, poiché il re Dario avea così decretato, eseguirono puntualmente i suoi ordini.
14 So the Elders of the Iewes builded, and they prospered by the prophecying of Haggai the Prophet, and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo, and they buylded and finished it, by the appoyntment of the God of Israel, and by the commandement of Cyrus and Darius, and Artahshashte king of Persia.
E gli anziani de’ Giudei tirarono innanzi e fecero progredire la fabbrica, aiutati dalle parole ispirate del profeta Aggeo, e di Zaccaria figliuolo d’Iddo. E finirono i loro lavori di costruzione secondo il comandamento dell’Iddio d’Israele, e secondo gli ordini di Ciro, di Dario e d’Artaserse, re di Persia.
15 And this house was finished the thirde day of the moneth Adar, which was the sixt yeere of the reigne of King Darius.
E la casa fu finita il terzo giorno del mese d’Adar, il sesto anno del regno di Dario.
16 And the children of Israel, the Priestes, and the Leuites, and the residue of the children of the captiuitie kept the dedication of this house of God with ioy,
I figliuoli d’Israele, i sacerdoti, i Leviti e gli altri reduci dalla cattività celebrarono con gioia la dedicazione di questa casa di Dio.
17 And offred at the dedication of this house of God an hundreth bullockes, two hundreth rams, foure hundreth lambes, and twelue goates, for the sinne of all Israel, according to the nomber of the tribes of Israel.
E per la dedicazione di questa casa di Dio offrirono cento giovenchi, duecento montoni quattrocento agnelli; e come sacrifizio per il peccato per tutto Israele, dodici capri, secondo il numero delle tribù d’Israele.
18 And they set the Priests in their order, and the Leuites in their courses ouer the seruice of God in Ierusalem, as it is written in the booke of Moses.
E stabilirono i sacerdoti secondo le loro classi, e i Leviti secondo le loro divisioni, per il servizio di Dio a Gerusalemme, come sta scritto nel libro di Mosè.
19 And the childre of the captiuitie kept the Passeouer on ye fourtenth day of the first moneth.
Poi, i reduci dalla cattività celebrarono la Pasqua il quattordicesimo giorno del primo mese,
20 (For the Priests and the Leuites were purified altogether) and they killed the Passeouer for all the children of the captiuitie, and for their brethren the Priests, and for themselues.
poiché i sacerdoti e i Leviti s’erano purificati come se non fossero stati che un sol uomo; tutti erano puri; e immolarono la Pasqua per tutti i reduci dalla cattività, per i sacerdoti loro fratelli, e per loro stessi.
21 So the children of Israel which were come againe out of captiuitie, and all such as had separated themselues vnto them, from the filthines of the Heathen of the land, to seeke the Lord God of Israel, did eate,
Così i figliuoli d’Israele ch’eran tornati dalla cattività e tutti quelli che s’eran separati dall’impurità della gente del paese e che s’unirono a loro per cercare l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, mangiarono la Pasqua.
22 And they kept ye feast of vnleauened bread seuen dayes with ioy: for the Lord had made them glad, and turned the heart of the King of Asshur vnto them, to incourage them in the worke of the house of God, euen the God of Israel.
E celebrarono con gioia la festa degli azzimi per sette giorni, perché l’Eterno li avea rallegrati, e avea piegato in lor favore il cuore del re d’Assiria, in modo da fortificare le loro mani nell’opera della casa di Dio, dell’Iddio d’Israele.
