1 These also are the sonnes of the prouince, that went vp out of the captiuitie (whome Nebuchadnezzar King of Babel had caried away vnto Babel) and returned to Ierusalem, and to Iudah, euery one vnto his citie,
इस प्रदेश के लोग, जो बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र द्वारा बंधुआई में ले जाए गए थे और जो बंधुआई से यहूदिया और येरूशलेम, अपने-अपने नगर को लौट आए थे, वे इस प्रकार है
2 Which came with Zerubbabel, to wit, Ieshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Biguai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel was,
ये वे हैं, जो ज़ेरुब्बाबेल के साथ आए थे: येशुआ, नेहेमियाह, सेराइयाह, रीलाइयाह, मोरदकय, बिलषान, मिसपार, बिगवाई, रेहुम और बाअनाह. इस्राएली प्रजा के पुरुषों की संख्या अपने-अपने कुलों के अनुसार निम्न लिखित है:

याला, दारकोन, गिद्देल,
57 The sonnes of Shephatiah, the sonnes of Hattil, the sonnes of Pochereth Hazzebaim, the sonnes of Ami.
शेपाथियाह, हत्तील, पोचेरेथ-हज्ज़ेबाइम, आमि.
58 All the Nethinims, and the sonnes of Salomons seruants were three hundreth ninetie and two.

59 And these went vp from Telmelah, and from Telharsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not discerne their fathers house and their seede, whether they were of Israel.
ये वे हैं, जो तेल-मेलाह, तेल-हरषा, करूब, अद्दान तथा इम्मर से आए, तथा इनके पास अपनी वंशावली के सबूत नहीं थे, कि वे इस्राएल के वंशज थे भी या नहीं:
60 The sonnes of Delaiah, the sonnes of Tobiah, the sonnes of Nekoda, six hundreth and two and fiftie.
देलाइयाह के वंशज, तोबियाह के वंशज तथा नेकोदा के वंशज 652
61 And of the sonnes of the Priestes, the sonnes of Habaiah, the sonnes of Coz, the sonnes of Barzillai: which tooke of the daughters of Barzillai the Giliadite to wife, and was called after their name.
पुरोहितों में: होबाइयाह के वंशज, हक्कोज़ के वंशज तथा बारज़िल्लाई, जिसने गिलआदवासी बारज़िल्लाई की पुत्रियों में से एक के साथ विवाह किया था और उसने उन्हीं का नाम रख लिया.
62 These sought their writing of the genealogies, but they were not founde: therefore were they put from the Priesthood.
इन्होंने अपने पुरखों के पंजीकरण की खोज की, किंतु इन्हें सच्चाई मालूम न हो सकी; तब इन्हें सांस्कृतिक रूप से अपवित्र माना गया तथा इन्हें पुरोहित जवाबदारी से दूर रखा गया.
63 And Tirshatha saide vnto them, that they should not eate of the most holy thing, tell there rose vp a Priest with Vrim and Thummim.
अधिपति ने उन्हें आदेश दिया कि वे उस समय तक अति पवित्र भोजन न खाएं, जब तक वहां कोई ऐसा पुरोहित न हो, जो उरीम तथा थुम्मिन से सलाह न ले लें.
64 The whole Congregation together was two and fourtie thousande, three hundreth and threescore,
सारी सभा की पूरी संख्या हुई 42,360.
65 Beside their seruants and their maydes: of whome were seuen thousande, three hundreth and seuen and thirtie: and among them were two hundreth singing men and singing women.
इनके अलावा 7,337 दास-दासियां तथा 200 गायक-गायिकाएं भी थी.
66 Their horses were seuen hundreth, and sixe and thirtie: their mules, two hundreth and fiue and fourtie:
उनके 736 घोड़े, 245 खच्चर,
67 Their camels foure hundreth, and fiue and thirtie: their asses, sixe thousand, seuen hundreth and twentie.
435 ऊंट तथा 6,720 गधे थे.
68 And certeine of the chiefe fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord, which was in Ierusalem, they offred willingly for the house of God, to set it vp vpon his fundation.
कुलों के कुछ प्रधान जब येरूशलेम में याहवेह के भवन में पहुंचे, उन्होंने अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार परमेश्वर के भवन को उसी नींव पर दोबारा बनाने के लिए दान दिया.
69 They gaue after their abilitie vnto the treasure of the worke, euen one and threescore thousand drammes of golde, and fiue thousand pieces of siluer, and an hundreth Priests garments.
उन्होंने अपनी-अपनी क्षमता के अनुसार इस काम के लिए 61,000 सोने के सिक्के, 5,000 चांदी के सिक्के तथा 100 पुरोहित वस्त्र खजाने में जमा करा दिए.
70 So the Priests and the Leuites, and a certeine of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
इस समय पुरोहित, लेवी, द्वारपाल, गायक, कुछ सामान्य प्रजाजन, मंदिर के सेवक, जो सभी इस्राएल वंशज ही थे, अपने-अपने नगरों में रहने लगे. पूरा इस्राएल अपने-अपने नगर में बस चुका था.
