Ezekiel 24
1 Again in the ninth yeere, in the tenth moneth, in the tenth day of the moneth, came the worde of the Lord vnto me, saying,
Dans la neuvième année, le dixième jour du dixième mois, la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Sonne of man, write thee the name of the day, euen of this same day: for the King of Babel set himselfe against Ierusalem this same day.
"Fils de l’homme, note-toi le nom de ce jour, du jour même où nous sommes: le roi de Babylone prend le contact de Jérusalem aujourd’hui même.
3 Therefore speake a parable vnto the rebellious house, and say vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord God, Prepare a pot, prepare it, and also powre water into it.
Imagine aussi une parabole à l’endroit de la maison de rébellion; tu leur diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Pose la marmite, pose-la, et puis verses-y de l’eau.
4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, euen euery good piece, as the thigh and the shoulder, and fill it with the chiefe bones.
Rassembles-y les morceaux, rien que de bons morceaux, cuisse et épaule, remplis-la d’os excellents.
5 Take one of the best sheepe, and burne also the bones vnder it, and make it boyle well, and seethe the bones of it therein,
Prends ce qu’il y a de mieux dans les agneaux, fais aussi cuire les os par dessous; qu’elle bouille à gros bouillons, pour que les os également puissent y cuire.
6 Because the Lord God sayth thus, Woe to the bloody citie, euen to the pot, whose skomme is therein, and whose skomme is not gone out of it: bring it out piece by piece: let no lot fall vpon it.
C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur, ô ville de sang, marmite à laquelle la crasse reste fixée, qui n’a pas été débarrassée de sa crasse! Qu’on la vide morceau par morceau, sans que le sort ait à intervenir à son sujet.
7 For her blood is in the middes of her: shee set it vpon an high rocke, and powred it not vpon on the ground to couer it with dust,
Car le sang qu’elle a versé est demeuré au milieu d’elle; elle l’a jeté sur une roche aride, elle ne l’a pas répandu sur le sol, de façon à le recouvrir de terre.
8 That it might cause wrath to arise, and take vengeance: euen I haue set her blood vpon an high rocke that it should not be couered.
C’Est pour faire éclater la colère, pour en tirer vengeance que j’ai exposé son sang sur une roche aride, où il ne pouvait être recouvert.
9 Therefore thus saith ye Lord God, Woe to the bloody citie, for I will make ye burning great.
C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur, ô ville de sang! Moi aussi j’élèverai un grand bûcher.
10 Heape on much wood: kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and cast in spice, and let the bones be burnt.
Qu’on accumule le bois, qu’on allume le feu, qu’on consume la viande, qu’on brouille la mixture et que les os soient carbonisés!
11 Then set it emptie vpon the coles thereof, that the brasse of it may be hot, and may burne, and that the filthinesse of it may be molten in it, and that the skomme of it may be consumed.
Puis, qu’on la pose à vide sur ses charbons, afin qu’elle s’échauffe, que s’embrase son cuivre, que son impureté fonde au dedans et que sa crasse disparaisse.
12 She hath wearied her selfe with lyes, and her great skomme went not out of her: therefore her skomme shall be consumed with fire.
Elle a coûté de vains efforts, l’abondance de sa crasse n’en sort pas: au feu sa crasse!
13 Thou remainest in thy filthines and wickednes: because I would haue purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthines, till I haue caused my wrath to light vpon thee.
II y a de l’infamie dans ton impureté: puisque j’ai cherché à t’épurer et que tu n’es pas devenue pure, tu ne te débarrasseras plus de ton impureté, jusqu’à ce que j’aie assouvi ma colère sur toi.
14 I the Lord haue spoken it: it shall come to passe, and I will doe it: I will not goe backe, neither will I spare, neither will I repent: according to thy wayes, and according to thy workes shall they iudge thee, sayeth the Lord God.
Moi, le Seigneur, j’ai parlé; cela arrivera, je l’accomplirai; je ne me raviserai point, je n’aurai ni pitié ni regret. Selon tes voies et selon tes actes, on te jugera, dit le Seigneur Dieu."
15 Also the worde of ye Lord came vnto me, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
16 Sonne of man beholde, I take away from thee the pleasure of thine eyes with a plague: yet shalt thou neither mourne nor weepe, neither shall thy teares runne downe.
"Fils de l’homme, je vais t’enlever les délices de tes yeux par un coup soudain; mais tu ne te lamenteras pas, tu ne pleureras pas et tes larmes ne couleront pas.
17 Cease from sighing: make no mourning for the dead, and binde the tyre of thine head vpon thee, and put on thy shooes vpon thy feete, and couer not thy lips, and eate not the bread of men.
Soupire en silence, ne prends pas le deuil comme pour des morts; attache sur toi ta coiffure, mets tes chaussures à tes pieds. Tu ne t’envelopperas pas jusqu’aux lèvres et tu ne mangeras pas le pain des hommes.
18 So I spake vnto the people in the morning, and at euen my wife dyed: and I did in the morning, as I was commanded.
Je parlai au peuple le matin, et le soir ma femme mourut; le lendemain matin je fis comme il m’avait été ordonné.
19 And the people said vnto me, Wilt thou not tell vs what these things meane towarde vs that thou doest so?
Le peuple me dit: "Ne nous expliqueras-tu pas ce que signifie pour nous ta manière d’agir?"
20 Then I answered them, The worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
Je leur répondis: "La parole de l’Eternel m’a été adressée en ces termes:
21 Speake vnto the house of Israel, Thus sayth the Lord God, Behold, I will pollute my Sanctuarie, euen the pride of your power, the pleasure of your eyes, and your hearts desire, and your sonnes, and your daughters whom ye haue left, shall fall by the sworde.
Dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, votre orgueil et votre force, les délices de vos yeux, l’objet de votre amour; et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés tomberont sous l’épée.
22 And ye shall doe as I haue done: ye shall not couer your lippes, neither shall ye eate the bread of men.
Et vous ferez comme j’ai fait; vous ne vous envelopperez point jusqu’aux lèvres, et vous ne mangerez pas le pain des hommes.
23 And your tyre shalbe vpon your heads, and your shooes vpon your feete: ye shall not mourne nor weepe, but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourne one toward another.
Votre coiffure restera sur votre tête et vos chaussures à vos pieds; vous ne vous lamenterez point et ne pleurerez point; mais vous vous consumerez par vos fautes et vous geindrez l’un en présence de l’autre.
24 Thus Ezekiel is vnto you a signe: according to all that he hath done, ye shall do: and when this commeth, ye shall know that I am the Lord God.
Et Ézéchiel vous servira de symbole: tout ce qu’il a fait, vous l’imiterez; quand cela arrivera, vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Dieu."
25 Also, thou sonne of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their power, ye ioy of their honor, ye pleasure of their eyes, and the desire of their heart, their sonnes and their daughters?
Pour toi, fils de l’homme, certes, le jour où je leur prendrai le boulevard de leur force, la joie de leur parure, les délices de leurs yeux et l’attrait de leur âme, leurs fils et leurs filles,
26 That he that escapeth in that day, shall come vnto thee to tell thee that which hee hath heard with his eares?
ce jour-là, il viendra un fuyard auprès de toi pour l’annoncer aux oreilles de tous.
27 In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speake, and be no more dumme, and thou shalt be a signe vnto them, and they shall knowe that I am the Lord.
Ce jour-là, ta bouche s’ouvrira avec celle du fuyard, tu parleras et ne seras plus réduit au mutisme; tu leur serviras de symbole, et ils sauront que je suis l’Eternel."
