Ezekiel 23

1 The worde of the Lord came againe vnto me, saying,

Et la parole du Seigneur me vint, disant:

2 Sonne of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother.

Fils de l'homme, il y avait deux femmes, filles d'une seule mère.

3 And they committed fornication in Egypt, they committed fornication in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teates of their virginitie.

Et dans leur jeunesse, elles se sont prostituées en Égypte; c'est là que leurs mamelles sont tombées et qu'elles ont été déflorées de leur virginité.

4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sonnes and daughters: thus were their names. Samaria is Aholah, and Ierusalem Aholibah.

Et elles s'appelaient: l'aînée Oola; sa sœur Ooliba. Et elles ont été à moi, et elles ont enfanté des fils et des filles, et voici leurs vrais noms: Samarie était Oola, et Jérusalem était Ooliba.

5 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine, and she was set on fire with her louers, to wit, with the Assyrians her neighbours,

Et Oola me quitta pour se prostituer; elle aima jusqu'à la fureur ses amants les Assyriens, qui demeuraient auprès d'elle,

6 Which were clothed with blewe silke, both captaines and princes: they were all pleasant yong men, and horsemen riding vpon horses.

Vêtus d'hyacinthe, princes et capitaines, jeunes gens d'élite, tous cavaliers montant à cheval.

7 Thus she committed her whoredome with them, euen with all them that were the chosen men of Asshur, and with all on whome she doted, and defiled her selfe with all their idoles.

Et c'est à eux qu'elle se livra dans sa débauche, et tous les fils choisis des Assyriens, et tous ceux qu'elle aima si furieusement, la souillèrent au gré de tous leurs désirs.

8 Neither left she her fornications, learned of the Egyptians: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginitie, and powred their whoredome vpon her.

Et elle ne renonça pas à sa débauche de l'Égypte; car c'est là que des hommes avaient dormi avec elle dans sa jeunesse, et ils l'avaient déflorée, et ils avaient versé sur elle leur propre infamie.

9 Wherefore I deliuered her into the hands of her louers, euen into the hands of the Assyrians, vpon whome she doted.

À cause de cela, je l'ai livrée aux mains de ses amants, aux mains des fils des Assyriens qu'elle a aimés avec fureur.

10 These discouered her shame: they tooke away her sonnes and her daughters, and slewe her with the sworde, and she had an euill name among women: for they had executed iudgement vpon her.

Ils ont dévoilé sa honte; ils ont pris ses fils et ses filles; et ils l'ont tuée elle-même à coups de glaive. Et elle est devenue la fable des femmes, et ils ont tiré vengeance d'elle sur sa fille.

11 And when her sister Aholibah sawe this, she marred her selfe with inordinate loue, more then she, and with her fornications more then her sister with her fornications.

Et sa sœur Ooliba la vit; et en ses passions elle fut plus dépravée qu'elle, et en sa prostitution elle surpassa la prostitution de sa sœur.

12 She doted vpon the Assyrians her neighbours, both captaines and princes clothed with diuers sutes, horsemen ryding vpon horses: they were all pleasant yong men.

Elle aima avec fureur les fils des Assyriens, princes et capitaines, ses voisins, revêtus d'habits brodés, cavaliers montant à cheval, tous jeunes gens d'élite.

13 Then I sawe that she was defiled, and that they were both after one sort,

Et je les vis toutes deux marcher dans les mêmes souillures.

14 And that she encreased her fornications: for when she sawe men painted vpon the wall, the images of the Caldeans painted with vermelon,

Et Ooliba alla plus loin dans sa débauche; elle vit des hommes dessinés sur un mur, images de Chaldéens tracés au pinceau,

15 And girded with girdles vpon their loynes, and with dyed attyre vpon their heads (looking all like princes after the maner of the Babylonians in Caldea, the land of their natiuitie)

Les reins ceints d'étoffes bigarrées, la tête couverte d'étoffes de couleur, trois fois plus grands que les autres hommes, images de fils des Chaldéens, de la terre de leurs aïeux.

16 Assoone, I say, as she sawe them, she doted vpon them, and sent messengers vnto them into Caldea.

Et les ayant contemplés de ses yeux, elle les aima avec fureur, et elle leur envoya des messagers en la terre des Chaldéens.

17 Nowe when the Babylonians came to her into the bed of loue, they defiled her with their fornication, and she was polluted with them, and her lust departed from them.

Et les fils de Babylone vinrent à elle; ils partagèrent sa couche; ils la souillèrent en sa prostitution, et elle fut souillée par eux; puis son âme s'éloigna d'eux.

18 So she discouered her fornication, and disclosed her shame: then mine heart forsooke her, like as mine heart had forsaken her sister.

Et elle dévoila sa débauche, et elle dévoila sa honte. Et mon âme s'éloigna d'elle comme mon âme s'était éloignée de sa sœur.

19 Yet she encreased her whoredome more, and called to remembrance ye dayes of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

Et tu as multiplié tes débauches, comme pour rappeler le souvenir des jours de ta jeunesse, où tu t'es prostituée en Égypte.

20 For she doted vpon their seruants whose members are as the members of asses, and whose yssue is like the yssue of horses.

Et tu as aimé avec fureur les Chaldéens, qui avaient des chairs comme des ânes, et des membres comme des chevaux.

21 Thou calledst to remembrance the wickednes of thy youth, when thy teates were bruised by ye Egyptians: therefore ye paps of thy youth are thus.

Et tu as renouvelé le dérèglement de ta jeunesse, et ce que tu as fait durant ton séjour en Égypte quand tu avais les mamelles de ta jeunesse.

22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus sayeth the Lord God, Beholde, I will raise vp thy louers against thee, from whome thine heart is departed, and I will bring them against thee on euery side,

À cause de cela, Ooliba, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que je vais susciter contre toi tes amants, de qui ton âme s'est éloignée; je les rassemblerai en cercle contre toi.

23 To wit, the Babylonians, and all the Caldeans, Peked, and Shoah, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: they were all pleasant yong men, captaines and princes: all they were valiant and renoumed, riding vpon horses.

Les fils de Babylone et tous les Chaldéens, Phacuc, et Sué, et Hychué, et avec eux tous les fils des Assyriens, jeunes gens d'élite, princes et capitaines, tous ayant grand air et grand renom, cavaliers montant à cheval.

24 Euen these shall come against thee with charets, waggons, and wheeles, and with a multitude of people, which shall set against thee, buckler and shield, and helmet round about: and I will leaue the punishment vnto them, and they shall iudge thee according to their iudgements.

Et ils viendront tous contre toi du nord, chars et roues, avec une multitude de peuples, longs boucliers, écus légers; et ils poseront autour de toi des gardes.

25 And I wil lay mine indignation vpon thee, and they shall deale cruelly with thee: they shall cut off thy nose and thine eares, and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall cary away thy sonnes and thy daughters, and thy residue shall be deuoured by the fire.

Et je rendrai mon arrêt devant eux, et ils te puniront selon leurs lois. Et j'amènerai contre toi ma jalousie; et ils te traiteront avec des transports de colère. Ils te couperont les narines et les oreilles; ils frapperont du glaive ceux des tiens qui survivront; ils prendront tes fils et tes filles, et le feu dévorera ce qui restera de toi.

26 They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fayre iewels.

Et ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements, et ils te prendront les joyaux qui faisaient ton orgueil.

27 Thus wil I make thy wickednes to cease from thee and thy fornication out of the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift vp thine eyes vnto them, nor remember Egypt any more.

Puis je détournerai de toi tes impiétés, et tes débauches de la terre d'Égypte, et tu ne lèveras plus les yeux sur eux, et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'Égypte.

28 For thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I wil deliuer thee into the hand of them, whome thou hatest: euen into the hands of them from whome thine heart is departed.

Ainsi parle-encore le Seigneur Maître: Voilà que je te livre aux mains de ceux que tu hais, de ceux de qui ton âme s'est éloignée.

29 And they shall handle thee despitefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leaue thee naked and bare, and the shame of thy fornications shalbe discouered, both thy wickednes, and thy whoredome.

Ils te traiteront avec haine, et ils te prendront le fruit de tes fatigues et de tes labeurs, et tu seras nue et confuse; et la honte de ta prostitution sera dévoilée; et ton impiété et ta débauche

30 I wil doe these things vnto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idoles.

T'auront attiré ces maux, parce que tu t'es prostituée en courant après des gentils, et que tu t'es souillée avec leurs idoles.

31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister: therefore wil I giue her cup into thine hand.

Tu as marché dans la voie de ta sœur, et je mettrai sa coupe en tes mains.

32 Thus saith ye Lord God, Thou shalt drinke of thy sisters cup, deepe and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorne and had in derision, because it containeth much.

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Bois la coupe de ta sœur, coupe large et profonde; bois-la jusqu'à l'ivresse;

33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkennes and sorow, euen with the cup of destruction, and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

Et tu seras tout à fait énervée; la coupe de ta sœur Samarie est une coupe d'extermination.

34 Thou shalt euen drinke it, and wring it out to the dregges, and thou shalt breake the sheards thereof, and teare thine owne breasts: for I haue spoken it, sayth the Lord God.

Bois-la, et je répudierai tes fêtes et tes jours de nouvelle lune; car c'est moi qui ai parlé, dit le Seigneur.

35 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behinde thy backe, therefore thou shalt also beare thy wickednes and thy whoredome.

À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Parce que tu m'as oublié et rejeté derrière toi, tu recevras la rétribution de ton impiété et de ta débauche.

36 The Lord sayd moreouer vnto me, Sonne of man, wilt thou iudge Aholah and Aholibah? and wilt thou declare to them their abominations?

Et le Seigneur me dit: Fils de l'homme, ne jugeras-tu pas Oola et Ooliba? Ne leur feras-tu pas connaître leurs dérèglements,

37 For they haue played the whores, and blood is in their hands, and with their idoles haue they committed adulterie, and haue also caused their sonnes, whome they bare vnto me, to passe by the fire to be their meate.

Et leurs adultères, et le sang qu'elles ont versé? Elles se sont prostituées à leurs idoles; et leurs enfants qu'elles avaient enfantés pour moi, elles les ont fait passer pour elles à travers la flamme.

38 Moreouer, thus haue they done vnto me: they haue defiled my Sanctuarie in the same day, and haue prophaned my Sabbaths.

Et aussi longtemps qu'elles ont ainsi fait, elles ont souillé mes choses saintes et profané mes sabbats.

39 For when they had slaine their children to their idoles, they came the same day into my Sanctuarie to defile it: and loe, thus haue they done in the middes of mine house.

Et quand elles égorgeaient leurs enfants pour des idoles, elles entraient dans mon sanctuaire pour le souiller; et voilà ce qu'elles ont fait au milieu de mon temple,

40 And howe much more is it that they sent for men to come from farre vnto whom a messenger was sent, and loe, they came? for whome thou diddest wash thy selfe, and paintedst thine eyes, and deckedst thee with ornaments,

Avec des hommes venant de loin, à qui elles avaient envoyé des messages. Et comme ils arrivaient tu t'es aussitôt lavée, tu t'es fardée autour des yeux, tu t'es parée de tes joyaux,

41 And satest vpon a costly bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oyle.

Tu t'es assise sur un long siège, et une table était préparée devant toi; et ils se sont réjouis de mes parfums et de mon huile.

42 And a voyce of a multitude being at ease, was with her: and with the men to make the company great were brought men of Saba from the wildernes, which put bracelets vpon their hands, and beautifull crownes vpon their heads.

Et elles ont entonné des chants harmonieux devant quelques-uns des hommes qui étaient venus en foule du désert, et elles leur ont mis des bracelets, et elles leur ont posé sur la tête des couronnes de gloire.

43 Then I sayd vnto her, that was olde in adulteries, Now shall she and her fornications come to an end.

Et j'ai dit: Ne commettent-elles pas des adultères avec ceux-ci? Cette femme ne se conduit-elle pas comme une prostituée?

44 And they went in vnto her as they goe to a common harlot: so went they to Aholah and Aholibah the wicked women.

Ils sont entrés chez elle comme on entre chez une femme débauchée; et voilà comme ils sont entrés chez Oola et Ooliba, pour s'abandonner au dérèglement.

45 And ye righteous men they shall iudge them, after the maner of harlots, and after the maner of murtherers: for they are harlots, and blood is in their hands.

Aussi ce sont des hommes justes, ceux qui tireront vengeance contre ces femmes, de leurs adultères et du sang versé; car elles sont adultères et elles ont versé le sang.

46 Wherefore thus sayth the Lord God, I will bring a multitude vpon them, and will giue them vnto the tumult, and to the spoyle,

Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Maître: Ameute contre elles la foule, et répands chez elles le trouble et le pillage.

47 And the multitude shall stone them with stones, and cut them with their swordes: they shall slay their sonnes, and their daughters, and burne vp their houses with fire.

Qu'elles soient lapidées par les pierres de la multitude, qu'elles soient percées par ses glaives; on tuera leurs fils et leurs filles, on brûlera leurs maisons.

48 Thus will I cause wickednesse to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to doe after your wickednesse.

Ensuite je détournerai de cette terre l'impiété, et toutes les femmes seront instruites, elles n'imiteront pas l'impiété de celles-ci.

49 And they shall laye your wickednesse vpon you, and ye shall beare the sinnes of your idoles, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord God.

Et votre iniquité retombera sur vous, et vous porterez la peine de vos idoles, et vous connaîtrez que je suis le Seigneur.
