Ezekiel 22
1 Moreover, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Now thou sonne of man, wilt thou iudge, wilt thou iudge this bloody citie? wilt thou shew her all her abominations?
"O toi, fils de l’homme! Veux-tu faire le procès, le procès de cette ville de sang? Expose-lui toutes ses abominations.
3 Then say, Thus sayth the Lord God, The citie sheddeth blood in the middes of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against her selfe to pollute her selfe.
Tu diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Ville qui verses le sang dans tes murs pour hâter ton heure, qui te couvres d’idoles dont tu reçois la souillure!
4 Thou hast offended in thy blood, that thou hast shed, and hast polluted thy selfe in thine idols, which thou hast made, and thou hast caused thy dayes to draw neere, and art come vnto thy terme: therefore haue I made thee a reproch to the heathen, and a mocking to all countreys.
Le sang que tu as versé te condamne, les idoles que tu as faites t’ont souillée; tu as accéléré ta fin, rapproché le terme de tes années. C’Est pourquoi je te rends l’opprobre des nations et la risée de toutes les contrées.
5 Those that be neere, and those that be farre from thee, shall mocke thee, which art vile in name and sore in affliction.
Proches ou éloignées, elles se railleront de toi, ô ville perdue de réputation, fertile en désordres!
6 Beholde, the princes of Israel euery one in thee was ready to his power, to shed blood.
Vois, les princes d’Israël qui étaient dans ton sein, tous hommes de violence, n’ont aspiré qu’à verser le sang.
7 In thee haue they despised father and mother: in the middes of thee haue they oppressed the stranger: in thee haue they vexed the fatherlesse and the widowe.
Chez toi, l’on a outragé père et mère; chez toi on a pressuré durement l’étranger, spolié l’orphelin et la veuve.
8 Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast polluted my Sabbaths.
Mes saintetés, tu les as méprisées; mes sabbats, profanés.
9 In thee are men that cary tales to shed blood: in thee are they that eate vpon the mountaines: in ye mids of thee they comit abomination.
Chez toi, il s’est trouvé des délateurs, provoquant l’effusion du sang; chez toi, on a mangé sur les montagnes; on a pratiqué la débauche dans ton sein.
10 In thee haue they discouered their fathers shame: in thee haue they vexed her that was polluted in her floures.
On a découvert, chez toi, la nudité de son père; chez toi, on a fait violence à la femme qu’isolait son impureté.
11 And euery one hath committed abomination with his neighbours wife, and euery one hath wickedly defiled his daughter in lawe, and in thee hath euery man forced his owne sister, euen his fathers daughter.
L’Un a eu avec la femme de son prochain un commerce abominable; l’autre a déshonoré sa bru par l’inceste; un autre a fait, chez toi, violence à sa soeur, à la fille de son père.
12 In thee haue they taken giftes to shed blood: thou hast taken vsurie and the encrease, and thou hast defrauded thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God.
On a accepté chez toi des dons corrupteurs pour faire couler le sang; tu as pris de l’intérêt, un profit illicite, exploité ton prochain par la rapine, et tu m’as oublié, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu!
13 Beholde, therefore I haue smitten mine hands vpon thy couetousnesse, that thou hast vsed, and vpon the blood, which hath bene in the middes of thee.
Mais voici que j’ai frappé des mains à cause des rapines que tu as exercées et du sang qui s’est versé au milieu de toi.
14 Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the dayes that I shall haue to doe with thee? I the Lord haue spoken it, and will doe it.
Ton coeur tiendra-t-il bon, tes mains demeureront-elles fermes quand viendront les jours que je te prépare? Moi, l’Eternel, je l’ai dit et je l’accomplirai:
15 And I wil scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countreys, and will cause thy filthines to cease from thee.
je te disperserai parmi les nations, je t’éparpillerai par les pays, et j’extirperai la souillure qui s’est attachée à toi.
16 And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thy selfe in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt knowe that I am the Lord.
Tu seras avilie par ta faute aux yeux des nations, et tu reconnaîtras que je suis l’Eternel."
17 And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
18 Sonne of man, the house of Israel is vnto me as drosse: all they are brasse, and tinne, and yron, and leade in the mids of the fornace: they are euen the drosse of siluer.
"Fils de l’homme, les gens de la maison d’Israël sont devenus pour moi des scories; tous pareils au cuivre, à l’étain, au fer et au plomb dans le creuset: ils sont des scories de l’argent.
19 Therefore, thus sayth the Lord God, Because ye are all as drosse, beholde, therefore I will gather you in the middes of Ierusalem.
En conséquence, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: puisque vous êtes devenus tous des scories, c’est pourquoi je vais vous réunir au sein de Jérusalem.
20 As they gather siluer and brasse, and yron, and leade, and tinne into the middes of the fornace, to blowe the fire vpon it to melt it, so wil I gather you in mine anger and in my wrath, and wil put you there and melt you.
Comme l’on réunit argent, cuivre, fer, plomb et étain au fond d’un creuset, pour les soumettre à l’action du feu et en opérer la fusion, ainsi dans ma colère et clans mon courroux je vous réunirai, je vous introduirai dans le creuset et vous ferai fondre.
21 I wil gather you, I say, and blowe the fire of my wrath vpon you, and you shalbe melted in the mids thereof.
Oui, je vous assemblerai, j’attiserai contre vous le feu de mon indignation et vous y fondrez.
22 As siluer is melted in the mids of the fornace, so shall ye be melted in the mids thereof, and ye shall knowe, that I the Lord haue powred out my wrath vpon you.
Comme l’argent entre en fusion au fond d’un creuset, ainsi vous y fondrez; et vous saurez que moi, l’Eternel, j’aurai déversé mon courroux sur vous."
23 And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
24 Sonne of man, say vnto her; Thou art the land, that is vncleane, and not rained vpon in the day of wrath.
"Fils de l’homme, dis-lui: Tu es une terre non purifiée, non trempée par la pluie, au jour de la colère.
25 There is a conspiracie of her prophets in the mids thereof like a roaring lyon, rauening the praye: they haue deuoured soules: they haue taken the riches and precious things: they haue made her many widowes in the mids thereof.
Ses prophètes s’y coalisent; comme un lion rugissant qui déchire la proie, ils dévorent les gens, s’emparent des biens et des objets de prix et multiplient les veuves sur son sol.
26 Her Priests haue broken my Lawe, and haue defiled mine holy things: they haue put no difference betweene the holy and prophane, neither discerned betweene the vncleane, and the cleane, and haue hid their eyes from my Sabbaths, and I am prophaned among them.
Ses prêtres font violence à ma loi, profanent mes choses saintes; ils ne font pas de différence entre le sacré et le profane et n’enseignent pas à discerner ce qui est impur de ce qui est pur. De mes sabbats Ils détournent les yeux, de sorte que je me trouve abaissé au milieu d’eux.
27 Her princes in the mids thereof are like wolues, rauening the praye to shed blood, and to destroy soules for their owne couetous lucre.
Ses chefs y sont comme des loups qui déchirent la proie, ne pensant qu’à verser le sang, qu’à ruiner des existences pour servir leur intérêt.
28 And her prophets haue dawbed them with vntempered morter, seeing vanities, and diuining lies vnto them, saying, Thus sayth the Lord God, when the Lord had not spoken.
Quant à ses prophètes, ils composent à leur usage un léger badigeon, ils ont de fausses visions, leur débitent des oracles mensongers, en disant: "Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu!" alors que le Seigneur n’a point parlé.
29 The people of the land haue violently oppressed by spoyling and robbing, and haue vexed the poore and the needy: yea, they haue oppressed the stranger against right.
Les gens du pays exercent des violences, commettent des rapines, spolient le pauvre et l’indigent et oppriment l’étranger contre tout droit.
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make vp the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.
J’Ai cherché parmi eux un homme capable d’élever un mur de défense, de se tenir sur la brèche devant moi en faveur de ce pays, en vue d’en prévenir la ruine, et je ne l’ai point trouvé.
31 Therefore haue I powred out mine indignation vpon them, and consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their owne wayes haue I rendred vpon their heads, sayth the Lord God.
Aussi ai-je déversé ma colère sur eux; dans le feu de mon courroux j’ai voulu en finir avec eux: j’ai fait retomber leur conduite sur leur tête," dit le Seigneur Dieu.
