Ezekiel 19
1 Thou also, take vp a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
« Prononcez une complainte sur les princes d'Israël,
2 And say, Wherefore lay thy mother as a lyonesse among the lyons? she nourished her yong ones among the lyons whelps,
et dites, Quelle était ta mère? Une lionne. Elle s'est couchée parmi les lions, au milieu des jeunes lions, elle a nourri ses petits.
3 And she brought vp one of her whelps, and it became a lyon, and it learned to catch the praye, and it deuoured men.
Elle a élevé un de ses petits. Il est devenu un jeune lion. Il a appris à attraper la proie. Il a dévoré des hommes.
4 The nations also heard of him, and he was taken in their nets, and they brought him in chaines vnto the land of Egypt.
Les nations ont aussi entendu parler de lui. Il a été pris dans leur fosse; et ils l'ont emmené avec des crochets dans le pays d'Égypte.
5 Nowe when she sawe, that she had waited and her hope was lost, she tooke another of her whelps, and made him a lyon.
"'Or, quand elle vit qu'elle avait attendu, et son espoir était perdu, puis elle a pris un autre de ses petits, et en a fait un jeune lion.
6 Which went among the lyons, and became a lyon, and learned to catch the praye, and he deuoured men.
Il montait et descendait parmi les lions. Il est devenu un jeune lion. Il a appris à attraper la proie. Il a dévoré des hommes.
7 And he knew their widowes, and he destroyed their cities, and the land was wasted, and all that was therein by the noyse of his roaring.
Il connaissait leurs palais, et ont dévasté leurs villes. La terre était désolée avec sa plénitude, à cause du bruit de ses rugissements.
8 Then the nations set against him on euery side of the countreys, and laide their nets for him: so he was taken in their pit.
Et les nations l'attaquèrent de tous côtés, depuis les provinces. Ils ont étendu leur filet sur lui. Il a été pris dans leur fosse.
9 And they put him in prison and in chaines, and brought him to the King of Babel, and they put him in holdes, that his voyce should no more be heard vpon the mountaines of Israel.
Ils l'ont mis dans une cage avec des crochets, et l'ont amené au roi de Babylone. Ils l'ont amené dans des forteresses, afin que sa voix ne soit plus entendue sur les montagnes d'Israël.
10 Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she brought foorth fruite and branches by the abundant waters,
"'Ta mère était comme une vigne dans ton sang, plantée près des eaux. Il était fécond et plein de branches à cause des nombreuses eaux.
11 And she had strong rods for the scepters of them that beare rule, and her stature was exalted among the branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
Il avait des branches robustes pour les sceptres de ceux qui gouvernaient. Leur stature était exaltée parmi les épais branchages. Ils ont été vus dans leur taille avec la multitude de leurs branches.
12 But she was plucked vp in wrath: she was cast downe to the ground, and the East winde dried vp her fruite: her branches were broken, and withered: as for the rod of her strength, the fire consumed it.
Mais il a été arraché avec fureur. Il a été jeté à terre, et le vent d'est a desséché ses fruits. Ses branches fortes ont été brisées et se sont desséchées. Le feu les a consumés.
13 And now she is planted in the wildernes in a drie and thirstie ground.
Maintenant, elle est plantée dans le désert, dans une terre sèche et assoiffée.
14 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath deuoured her fruite, so that she hath no strong rod to be a scepter to rule: this is a lamentation and shalbe for a lamentation.
Le feu est sorti de ses branches. Il a dévoré ses fruits, de sorte qu'il n'y a pas en elle de branche forte pour être un sceptre pour gouverner. C'est une lamentation, et ce sera une lamentation. »
