Ezekiel 18
1 The worde of the Lord came vnto me againe, saying,
La Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:
2 What meane ye that ye speake this prouerbe, concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers haue eaten sowre grapes, and the childrens teeth are set on edge?
¿Por qué repiten ese dicho en la tierra de Israel: Los padres comieron las uvas agrias, y los hijos sufren la dentera?
3 As I liue, sayth the Lord God, ye shall vse this prouerbe no more in Israel.
¡Vivo Yo! dice ʼAdonay Yavé, que nunca más repetirán ese dicho en Israel.
4 Beholde, all soules are mine, both the soule of the father, and also the soule of the sonne are mine: the soule that sinneth, it shall die.
Ciertamente todas las almas son mías. Tanto el alma del padre como el alma del hijo son mías. La persona que peque, ésa morirá.
5 But if a man be iust, and doe that which is lawfull, and right,
El hombre que es justo, que practica la justicia y la equidad,
6 And hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idoles of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbours wife, neither hath lyen with a menstruous woman,
que no come en [los altares de] las montañas, ni levanta sus ojos a los ídolos de la Casa de Israel, ni viola a la esposa de su prójimo, ni se une a una mujer en su período menstrual,
7 Neither hath oppressed any, but hath restored the pledge to his dettour: he that hath spoyled none by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment,
que no explota a nadie, al deudor le devuelve la prenda empeñada, no roba, da de su pan al hambriento y cubre con su ropa al desnudo,
8 And hath not giuen foorth vpon vsurie, neither hath taken any increase, but hath withdrawen his hand from iniquitie, and hath executed true iudgement betweene man and man,
que no presta con usura ni cobra intereses, que detiene su mano de la iniquidad, juzga de modo imparcial entre hombre y hombre,
9 And hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my iudgements to deale truely, he is iust, he shall surely liue, sayth the Lord God.
anda en mis Ordenanzas, guarda mis Estatutos y los cumple fielmente, ése es justo. Ése ciertamente vivirá, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.
10 If he beget a sonne, that is a thiefe, or a sheader of blood, if he do any one of these things,
Pero si engendra un hijo ladrón y homicida, o que hace cualquiera de estas cosas,
11 Though he doe not all these things, but either hath eaten vpon the mountaines, or defiled his neighbours wife,
aunque no haga las otras, sino come sobre [los altares de] las montañas, o viola la esposa de su prójimo,
12 Or hath oppressed the poore and needy, or hath spoyled by violence, or hath not restored the pledge, or hath lift vp his eyes vnto the idoles, or hath committed abomination,
que oprime al pobre y necesitado, roba, no devuelve la prenda, o levanta sus ojos a los ídolos y comete repugnancia,
13 Or hath giuen forth vpon vsurie, or hath taken increase, shall he liue? he shall not liue: seeing he hath done all these abominations, he shall die the death, and his blood shall be vpon him.
presta por interés y toma usura, ¿vivirá éste? No vivirá. Hizo todas estas repugnancias y ciertamente morirá. Su sangre caerá sobre él.
14 But if he beget a sonne, that seeth all his fathers sinnes, which he hath done, and feareth, neither doeth such like,
Pero si éste engendra un hijo, que a pesar de que vio todos los pecados de su padre, no los imita,
15 That hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idols of ye house of Israel, nor hath defiled his neighbours wife,
no come [sobre los altares] en las montañas, ni levanta sus ojos a los ídolos de la Casa de Israel, no viola a la esposa de su prójimo,
16 Neither hath oppressed any, nor hath withholden the pledge, neither hath spoyled by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment,
ni oprime a alguno, no retiene la prenda ni roba; que comparte su pan con el hambriento y cubre al desnudo;
17 Neither hath withdrawen his hand from the afflicted, nor receiued vsurie nor increase, but hath executed my iudgements, and hath walked in my statutes, he shall not die in the iniquitie of his father, but he shall surely liue.
que aparta su mano de la iniquidad y no recibe interés ni usura; que guarda mis Estatutos y anda en mis Ordenanzas, ése no morirá por la maldad de su padre. Ciertamente vivirá.
18 His father, because he cruelly oppressed and spoyled his brother by violence, and hath not done good among his people, loe, euen he dyeth in his iniquitie.
En cuanto a su padre, porque cometió agravio, despojó con violencia al hermano y cometió en medio de su pueblo lo que no es bueno, ciertamente él morirá por su iniquidad.
19 Yet say ye, Wherefore shall not the sonne beare the iniquitie of the father? because ye sonne hath executed iudgement and iustice, and hath kept all my statutes, and done them, he shall surely liue,
Y si dices: ¿Por qué el hijo no lleva el pecado de su padre? Porque el hijo actuó según la Ordenanza y la Justicia, guardó todos mis Estatutos y los cumplió. Ciertamente vivirá.
20 The same soule that sinneth, shall die: the sonne shall not beare the iniquitie of the father, neither shall the father beare the iniquitie of the sonne, but the righteousnes of the righteous shall be vpon him, and the wickednesse of the wicked shall be vpon him selfe.
La persona que peque, ésa morirá. El hijo no recibirá el castigo por la iniquidad del padre, ni el padre recibirá el castigo por la iniquidad del hijo. La justicia del justo estará sobre él, y la perversidad del perverso caerá sobre él.
21 But if the wicked will returne from all his sinnes that he hath committed, and keepe all my statutes, and doe that which is lawfull and right, he shall surely liue, and shall not die.
Pero si el perverso se aparta de todos sus pecados que cometió, guarda todos mis Estatutos y hace según la Ordenanza y la Justicia, ciertamente vivirá. No morirá.
22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned vnto him, but in his righteousnes that he hath done, he shall liue.
Ninguna de las transgresiones que cometió será recordada contra él. A causa de la justicia que practicó, vivirá.
23 Haue I any desire that the wicked should die, sayth the Lord God? or shall he not liue, if he returne from his wayes?
¿Quiero Yo la muerte del perverso? dice ʼAdonay Yavé. ¿No vivirá si se aparta de sus caminos?
24 But if the righteous turne away from his righteousnes, and commit iniquitie, and doe according to all the abominations, that the wicked man doeth, shall he liue? all his righteousnes that he hath done, shall not be mentioned: but in his transgression that he hath committed, and in his sinne that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
Pero, si el justo se aparta de su justicia, comete repugnancia y hace conforme a todas las repugnancias que comete el perverso, ¿vivirá? Ninguna de las justicias que practicó le será tomada en cuenta. Por su infidelidad que practicó y por el pecado que cometió, por ellos morirá.
25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equall: heare now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equall? or are not your wayes vnequall?
Y si dices: No es recto el camino de ʼAdonay. Oiga ahora, oh Casa de Israel: ¿Mi camino no es recto? ¿No son sus caminos los que no son rectos?
26 For when a righteous man turneth away from his righteousnes, and committeth iniquitie, he shall euen die for the same, he shall euen die for his iniquitie, that he hath done.
Cuando el justo se aparta de su justicia y comete iniquidad, muere. A causa de la iniquidad que cometió muere.
27 Againe when the wicked turneth away from his wickednes that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawfull and right, he shall saue his soule aliue.
Pero al apartarse el perverso de la perversidad que cometió, y actuar según la Ordenanza y la Justicia, salva su vida.
28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that hee hath committed, he shall surely liue and shall not die.
Porque reflexionó y se apartó de todas sus transgresiones que cometió. Ciertamente vivirá. No morirá.
29 Yet saith ye house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equall. O house of Israel, are not my wayes equall? or are not your wayes vnequall?
Si aún la Casa de Israel dice: No es recto el camino de ʼAdonay. Oh Casa de Israel, ¿no son rectos mis caminos? Ciertamente sus caminos no son rectos.
30 Therefore I will iudge you, O house of Israel, euery one according to his wayes, sayth the Lord God: returne therefore and cause others to turne away from all your transgressions: so iniquitie shall not be your destruction.
Por tanto oh Casa de Israel, Yo los juzgaré a cada uno según su conducta, dice ʼAdonay Yavé. Conviértanse y apártense de todas sus transgresiones para que la iniquidad no les sea una piedra de tropiezo.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye haue transgressed, and make you a newe heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
¡Echen de ustedes todas sus transgresiones que cometieron y fórmense un corazón nuevo y un espíritu nuevo! ¿Por qué morirán, oh Casa de Israel?
32 For I desire not the death of him that dyeth, sayth the Lord God: cause therefore one another to returne, and liue ye.
Porque Yo no me complazco en la muerte de alguno, dice ʼAdonay Yavé. Por tanto conviértanse y vivan.
