Ezekiel 15

1 And thee word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

A palavra de Yahweh veio até mim, dizendo:

2 Sonne of man, what commeth of the vine tree aboue all other trees? and of the vine braunch, which is among the trees of ye forest?

“Filho do homem, o que é a árvore da videira mais do que qualquer árvore, o ramo de videira que está entre as árvores da floresta?

3 Shall wood bee taken thereof to doe any worke? or wil men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

Será que a madeira será tirada dela para fazer qualquer coisa? Os homens pegarão um alfinete dela para pendurar algum vaso nela?

4 Behold, it is cast in the fire to be consumed: the fire consumeth both the endes of it, and the middes of it is burnt. Is it meete for any worke?

Eis que ela é lançada no fogo como combustível; o fogo devorou ambas as extremidades, e o meio dela é queimado. É rentável para qualquer trabalho?

5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meete for no worke: how much lesse shall it bee meete for any worke, when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burnt?

Eis que, quando estava inteiro, era adequado para nenhum trabalho. Quanto menos, quando o fogo o devorou, e foi queimado, será ainda adequado para qualquer trabalho?”.

6 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, As the vine tree, that is among the trees of the forest, which I haue giuen to the fire to be consumed, so will I giue the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

Portanto, o Senhor Javé diz: “Como a madeira de videira entre as árvores da floresta, que eu dei ao fogo para combustível, assim eu darei aos habitantes de Jerusalém.

7 And I will set my face against them: they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them: and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them,

Eu colocarei meu rosto contra eles”. Eles sairão do fogo, mas o fogo ainda os devorará. Então vocês saberão que eu sou Yahweh, quando eu colocar meu rosto contra eles.

8 And when I make the lande waste, because they haue greatly offended, saith the Lord God.

Eu tornarei a terra desolada, porque eles agiram infielmente”, diz o Senhor Javé.
