Ezekiel 15

1 And thee word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:

2 Sonne of man, what commeth of the vine tree aboue all other trees? and of the vine braunch, which is among the trees of ye forest?

Fils d’un homme, que fera-t-on de l’arbre de la vigne entre tous les arbres des bois, qui sont parmi les arbres des forêts?

3 Shall wood bee taken thereof to doe any worke? or wil men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

Est-ce qu’on prendra du bois de la vigne pour faire un ouvrage, ou en façonnera-t-on une cheville pour y suspendre un objet quelconque?

4 Behold, it is cast in the fire to be consumed: the fire consumeth both the endes of it, and the middes of it is burnt. Is it meete for any worke?

Voilà qu’on le met au feu, pour en être la proie; le feu consume les deux extrémités, et le milieu est réduit en cendre brûlante; est-ce qu’il sera utile pour un ouvrage?

5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meete for no worke: how much lesse shall it bee meete for any worke, when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burnt?

Et même lorsqu’il était entier, il n’était propre à aucun ouvrage; combien plus, lorsque le feu l’aura dévoré et entièrement brûlé, on n’en fera aucun ouvrage?

6 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, As the vine tree, that is among the trees of the forest, which I haue giuen to the fire to be consumed, so will I giue the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Comme l’arbre de la vigne parmi les arbres des forêts, que j’ai mis au feu pour le dévorer, ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem.

7 And I will set my face against them: they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them: and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them,

Et je tournerai ma face contre eux; ils sortiront du feu, et le feu les consumera; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, lorsque j’aurai tourné ma face contre eux,

8 And when I make the lande waste, because they haue greatly offended, saith the Lord God.

Et que j’aurai rendu la terre inaccessible et désolée, parce qu’ils se sont montrés prévaricateurs, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
