Ezekiel 15

1 And thee word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes:

2 Sonne of man, what commeth of the vine tree aboue all other trees? and of the vine braunch, which is among the trees of ye forest?

"Fils de l’homme, qu’adviendra-t-il du bois de la vigne parmi tous les bois, du sarment qui se trouve dans les arbres de la forêt?

3 Shall wood bee taken thereof to doe any worke? or wil men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

Est-ce qu’on en prendra du bois pour le travailler, en fera-t-on des chevilles, pour y suspendre quelque ustensile?

4 Behold, it is cast in the fire to be consumed: the fire consumeth both the endes of it, and the middes of it is burnt. Is it meete for any worke?

Voici qu’on l’a donné en aliment au feu; les deux bouts, le feu les a consumés et le dedans en est noirci: pourra-t-il être de quelque usage?

5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meete for no worke: how much lesse shall it bee meete for any worke, when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burnt?

Quoi! Quand il était intact, on ne l’employait à rien; maintenant que le feu l’a consumé et noirci, il serait encore de quelque usage?

6 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, As the vine tree, that is among the trees of the forest, which I haue giuen to the fire to be consumed, so will I giue the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

C’Est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur Dieu, tel le bois de la vigne parmi les bois de la forêt, que j’ai donné en aliment au feu, ainsi je traite les habitants de Jérusalem.

7 And I will set my face against them: they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them: and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them,

Je dirigerai ma face contre eux: ils sont sortis du feu et le feu les consumera, et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel quand je tournerai ma face contre eux.

8 And when I make the lande waste, because they haue greatly offended, saith the Lord God.

Et je ferai de leur terre une désolation, parce qu’ils se sont montrés infidèles," dit le Seigneur Dieu.
