Exodus 22
1 If a man steale an oxe or a sheepe, and kill it or sell it, he shall restore fiue oxen for the oxe, and foure sheepe for the sheepe.
“ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു കാളയെയോ ആടിനെയോ മോഷ്ടിച്ചു കശാപ്പു ചെയ്യുകയോ വിൽക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ അയാൾ ഒരു കാളയ്ക്കു പകരം അഞ്ചു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആടിനു പകരം നാല് ആടിനെയും കൊടുക്കണം.
2 If a thiefe bee founde breaking vp, and be smitten that he dye, no blood shall be shed for him.
“ഒരു കള്ളൻ ഭവനഭേദനം നടത്തുമ്പോൾ അടികൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചുപോയാൽ സ്വയരക്ഷയ്ക്കായി അടിച്ചയാൾക്കു രക്തപാതകം ഇല്ല.
3 But if it be in the day light, blood shall be shed for him: for he should make full restitution: if he had not wherewith, then shoulde he bee solde for his theft.
എന്നാൽ സൂര്യോദയത്തിനുശേഷമാണ് അങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നതെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ രക്തച്ചൊരിച്ചിൽനിമിത്തം കുറ്റക്കാരനായിരിക്കും. “മോഷ്ടാവ് തീർച്ചയായും നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നടത്തിയിരിക്കണം, എന്നാൽ ആ വ്യക്തിക്ക് അതിനു വകയില്ലെങ്കിൽ മോഷ്ടിച്ച കുറ്റത്തിന് അയാളെ വിൽക്കണം.
4 If the theft bee founde with him, aliue, (whether it be oxe, asse, or sheepe) he shall restore the double.
മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ട കാളയോ കഴുതയോ ആടോ ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കൈവശം ജീവനോടെ കാണപ്പെട്ടാൽ, അയാൾ അതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടി തിരിച്ചുകൊടുക്കണം.
5 If a man doe hurt fielde, or vineyarde, and put in his beast to feed in an other mans fielde, he shall recompence of the best of his owne fielde, and of the best of his owne vineyard.
“ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ മൃഗങ്ങളെ വയലിലോ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിലോ മേയിക്കുമ്പോൾ അലഞ്ഞുതിരിയാൻ അനുവദിച്ചിട്ട് അവ മറ്റൊരാളുടെ വയലിൽ മേഞ്ഞാൽ അയാൾ സ്വന്തം വയലിലെയോ മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിലെയോ നല്ലതിനെ പകരം കൊടുക്കണം.
6 If fire breake out, and catche in ye thornes, and the stackes of corne, or the standing corne, or the fielde be consumed, he that kindled the fire shall make full restitution.
“തീപിടിച്ചിട്ട് അതു മുൾപ്പടർപ്പുകളിലേക്കു വ്യാപിച്ച്, കറ്റകളോ കൊയ്തെടുക്കാനുള്ള വിളവോ വയലോ കത്തിപ്പോയാൽ തീ വെച്ചയാൾ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം ചെയ്യണം.
7 If a man deliuer his neighbour money or stuffe to keepe, and it be stollen out of his house, if the thiefe be found, he shall pay the double.
“ആരെങ്കിലും വെള്ളിയോ മറ്റു സാധനങ്ങളോ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കാൻ ഒരു അയൽവാസിയെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് അയാളുടെ വീട്ടിൽനിന്ന് അവ മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയും മോഷ്ടാവിനെ പിടികിട്ടുകയും ചെയ്താൽ മോഷ്ടാവ് അവയുടെ ഇരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കണം.
8 If the thiefe be not founde, then the master of the house shalbe brought vnto the Iudges to sweare, whether he hath put his hande vnto his neighbours good, or no.
എന്നാൽ കള്ളനെ പിടികിട്ടിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ വീട്ടുടമ മറ്റേയാളുടെ സ്വത്ത് അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നിശ്ചയം വരുത്താൻ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരണം.
9 In all maner of trespasse, whether it bee for oxen, for asse, for sheepe, for raiment, or for any maner of lost thing, which an other chalengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the iudges, and whom the Iudges condemne, he shall pay the double vnto his neighbour.
കാണാതെപോയ കാള, കഴുത, ആട്, വസ്ത്രം എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള എന്തിന്റെയെങ്കിലും കാര്യത്തിൽ ‘അതു തന്റേത്’ എന്ന് ആരെങ്കിലും അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നപക്ഷം, ഇരുകക്ഷികളും തങ്ങളുടെ കാര്യം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരണം; കുറ്റക്കാരെന്നു ദൈവം വിധിക്കുന്നവർ തന്റെ അയൽവാസിക്ക് ഇരട്ടി പകരം കൊടുക്കണം.
10 If a man deliuer vnto his neighbour to keepe asse, or oxe, or sheepe, or any beast, and it die, or be hurt, or taken away by enemies, and no man see it,
“ആരെങ്കിലും അയൽക്കാരെ സൂക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഏൽപ്പിച്ച കഴുതയോ കാളയോ ആടോ മറ്റ് ഏതെങ്കിലും മൃഗമോ ചാകുകയോ മുറിവേൽക്കുകയോ മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെടുകയോ ചെയ്യുകയും സാക്ഷി ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ
11 An othe of the Lord shalbe betweene the twaine, that hee hath not put his hande vnto his neighbours good, and the owner of it shall take the othe, and he shall not make it good:
അവർതമ്മിലുള്ള തർക്കം യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ തീർക്കണം; അയൽക്കാരുടെ വസ്തുവിന്മേൽ താൻ കൈവെച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ അയൽവാസി ശപഥംചെയ്യുകയുംവേണം. ഉടമ ഈ വസ്തുത അംഗീകരിക്കണം, പകരമായി ഒന്നുംതന്നെ നൽകേണ്ടതില്ല.
12 But if it be stollen from him, he shall make restitution vnto the owner thereof.
എന്നാൽ അതു തന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു മോഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ ഉടമസ്ഥനു നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം കൊടുക്കണം.
13 If it be torne in pieces, he shall bring recorde, and shall not make that good, which is deuoured.
മൃഗത്തെ ഒരു വന്യജന്തു കടിച്ചുകീറിയെങ്കിൽ അയാൾ മൃഗത്തിന്റെ അവശിഷ്ടം അതിനു തെളിവായി കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതാണ്; കടിച്ചുകീറിയതിനു പകരമായി അയാൾ ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.
14 And if a man borow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or els die, the owner thereof not being by, he shall surely make it good.
“ആരെങ്കിലും അയൽക്കാരുടെ പക്കൽനിന്ന് ഒരു മൃഗത്തെ കടം വാങ്ങിയിട്ട് ഉടമയുടെ അസാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ അതിനു മുറിവേൽക്കുകയോ അതു ചത്തുപോകുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ ആ മനുഷ്യൻ നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം കൊടുക്കണം.
15 If the owner thereof bee by, hee shall not make it good: for if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
ഉടമ മൃഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ കടംവാങ്ങിയയാൾ ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതില്ല. മൃഗത്തെ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയതാണെങ്കിൽ, നഷ്ടം നികത്താൻ കൂലിയായി കൊടുത്ത പണം മതിയാകും.
16 And if a man entise a maide that is not betrothed, and lie with her, hee shall endowe her, and take her to his wife.
“വിവാഹനിശ്ചയം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കന്യകയെ വശീകരിച്ച് അവളോടൊപ്പം ശാരീരികബന്ധത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടുന്നവൻ കന്യാധനം നൽകി അവളെ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിക്കണം.
17 If her father refuse to giue her to him, hee shall pay money, according to ye dowry of virgins.
അവളുടെ പിതാവ് അവളെ അവനു കൊടുക്കാൻ തീർത്തും വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും, അവൻ കന്യകമാർക്കുള്ള സ്ത്രീധനം കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to liue.
“ആഭിചാരകരെ ജീവിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കരുത്.
19 Whosoeuer lieth with a beast, shall dye the death.
“മൃഗത്തോടൊപ്പം ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടുന്നവർ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കണം.
20 Hee that offereth vnto any gods, saue vnto the Lord onely, shalbe slaine.
“യഹോവയ്ക്കല്ലാതെ മറ്റ് ഏതെങ്കിലും ദേവനു യാഗം കഴിക്കുന്നവരെ നിശ്ശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കണം.
21 Moreouer, thou shalt not do iniurie to a stranger, neither oppresse him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
“വിദേശിയോടു മോശമായി പെരുമാറുകയോ അവരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയോ അരുത്; ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ നിങ്ങളും പ്രവാസികൾ ആയിരുന്നല്ലോ.
22 Ye shall not trouble any widowe, nor fatherlesse childe.
“വിധവയെയോ അനാഥരെയോ പീഡിപ്പിക്കരുത്.
23 If thou vexe or trouble such, and so he call and cry vnto me, I will surely heare his cry.
നീ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് അവർ എന്നോടു നിലവിളിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ നിശ്ചയമായും അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കും;
24 Then shall my wrath be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wiues shall be widowes, and your children fatherlesse.
എന്റെ ക്രോധം ജ്വലിച്ചിട്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വാളാൽ കൊന്നുകളയും; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാർ വിധവകളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ അനാഥരും ആയിത്തീരും.
25 If thou lende money to my people, that is, to the poore with thee, thou shalt not bee as an vsurer vnto him: yee shall not oppresse him with vsurie.
“നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള എന്റെ ജനത്തിൽ ദരിദ്രനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനു പണം വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ പണവ്യാപാരിയെപ്പോലെ പെരുമാറരുത്; ആ വ്യക്തിയിൽനിന്ന് പലിശ ഈടാക്കരുത്.
26 If thou take thy neighbours rayment to pledge, thou shalt restore it vnto him before the sunne go downe:
അയൽവാസിയുടെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം പണയമായി വാങ്ങിയാൽ, സന്ധ്യയാകുമ്പോൾ അത് അയാൾക്കു തിരിച്ചുകൊടുക്കണം.
27 For that is his couering only, and this is his garment for his skin: wherin shall he sleepe? therefore when he crieth vnto mee, I will heare him: for I am mercifull.
ആ പുറങ്കുപ്പായംമാത്രമാണ് ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശരീരത്തിനുള്ള ഏക ആവരണം. അയാൾക്കു പുതച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഉറങ്ങാൻ മറ്റെന്താണുള്ളത്? ആ അയൽവാസി എന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കേൾക്കും; ഞാൻ അനുകമ്പയുള്ളവനല്ലോ.
28 Thou shalt not raile vpon the Iudges, neither speake euil of the ruler of thy people.
“ദൈവത്തെ ദുഷിക്കുകയോ നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഭരണകർത്താവിനെ ശപിക്കുകയോ അരുത്.
29 Thine abundance and thy licour shalt thou not keepe backe. The first borne of thy sonnes shalt thou giue me.
“നിന്റെ ധാന്യശേഖരത്തിൽനിന്നും വീഞ്ഞുശേഖരത്തിൽനിന്നും ഉള്ള വഴിപാടുകൾ അർപ്പിക്കാൻ വൈകരുത്. “നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ആദ്യജാതനെ എനിക്കു നൽകണം.
30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheepe: seuen dayes it shall bee with his damme, and the eight day thou shalt giue it me.
നിന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെയും ആടുകളുടെയും കാര്യത്തിലും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ചെയ്യണം. അതു തള്ളയോടുകൂടെ ഏഴുദിവസം നിന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ, എന്നാൽ എട്ടാംദിവസം അതിനെ എനിക്കു തരണം.
31 Ye shall be an holy people vnto me, neither shall ye eate any flesh that is torne of beastes in the fielde: ye shall cast it to the dogge.
“നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധജനമായിരിക്കേണ്ടവരാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് വന്യമൃഗങ്ങൾ കടിച്ചുകീറിയ മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കരുത്; അതു നായ്ക്കൾക്ക് ഇട്ടുകൊടുക്കണം.
