Exodus 20
1 Then God spake all these wordes, saying,
Och Gud talade alla dessa ord och sade:
2 I am the Lord thy God, which haue brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Jag är HERREN, din Gud, som har fört dig ut ur Egyptens land, ur träldomshuset.
3 Thou shalt haue none other Gods before me.
Du skall inga andra gudar hava jämte mig.
4 Thou shalt make thee no grauen image, neither any similitude of things that are in heauen aboue, neither that are in the earth beneath, nor that are in the waters vnder the earth.
Du skall icke göra dig något beläte eller någon bild, vare sig av det som är uppe i himmelen, eller av det som är nere på jorden, eller av det som är i vattnet under jorden.
5 Thou shalt not bowe downe to them, neither serue them: for I am the Lord thy God, a ielous God, visiting the iniquitie of the fathers vpon the children, vpon the third generation and vpon the fourth of them that hate me:
Du skall icke tillbedja sådana, ej heller tjäna dem; ty jag, HERREN, din Gud, är en nitälskande Gud, som hemsöker fädernas missgärning på barn och efterkommande i tredje och fjärde led, när man hatar mig,
6 And shewing mercie vnto thousandes to them that loue me, and keepe my commandemets.
men som gör nåd med tusenden, när man älskar mig och håller mina bud.
7 Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vaine: for the Lord will not hold him guiltles that taketh his Name in vayne.
Du skall icke missbruka HERRENS, din Guds, namn, ty HERREN skall icke låta den bliva ostraffad, som missbrukar hans namn.
8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keepe it holy.
Tänk på sabbatsdagen, så att du helgar den.
9 Sixe dayes shalt thou labour, and doe all thy worke,
Sex dagar skall du arbeta och förrätta alla dina sysslor;
10 But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any worke, thou, nor thy sonne, nor thy daughter, thy man seruant, nor thy mayde, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
men den sjunde dagen är HERRENS, din Guds, sabbat; då skall du ingen syssla förrätta, ej heller din son eller din dotter, ej heller din tjänare eller din tjänarinna eller din dragare, ej heller främlingen som är hos dig inom dina portar.
11 For in sixe dayes the Lord made the heauen and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seuenth day: therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Ty på sex dagar gjorde HERREN himmelen och jorden och havet och allt vad i dem är, men han vilade på sjunde dagen; därför har HERREN välsignat sabbatsdagen och helgat den.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy dayes may be prolonged vpon the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee.
Hedra din fader och din moder, för att du må länge leva i det land som HERREN, din Gud, vill giva dig.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
Du skall icke dräpa.
14 Thou shalt not commit adulterie.
Du skall icke begå äktenskapsbrott.
15 Thou shalt not steale.
Du skall icke stjäla.
16 Thou shalt not beare false witnes against thy neighbour.
Du skall icke bära falskt vittnesbörd mot din nästa.
17 Thou shalt not couet thy neighbours house, neither shalt thou couet thy neighbours wife, nor his man seruant, nor his mayde, nor his oxe, nor his asse, neyther any thing that is thy neighbours.
Du skall icke hava begärelse till din nästas hus. Du skall icke hava begärelse till din nästas hustru, ej heller till hans tjänare eller hans tjänarinna, ej heller till hans oxe eller hans åsna, ej heller till något annat som tillhör din nästa.
18 And all the people sawe the thunders, and the lightnings, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountaine smoking and when the people saw it they fled and stoode afare off,
Och allt folket förnam dundret och eldslågorna och basunljudet och röken från berget; och när folket förnam detta, bävade de och höllo sig på avstånd.
19 And sayde vnto Moses, Talke thou with vs, and we will heare: but let not God talke with vs, lest we die.
Och de sade till Mose: "Tala du till oss, så vilja vi höra, men låt icke Gud tala till oss, på det att vi icke må dö."
20 Then Moses sayde vnto the people, Feare not: for God is come to proue you, and that his feare may be before you, that ye sinne not.
Men Mose sade till folket: "Frukten icke, ty Gud har kommit för att sätta eder på prov, och för att I skolen hava hans fruktan för ögonen, så att I icke synden."
21 So the people stoode afarre off, but Moses drew neere vnto the darkenes where God was.
Alltså höll folket sig på avstånd, under det att Mose gick närmare till töcknet i vilket Gud var.
22 And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Thus thou shalt say vnto the children of Israel, Ye haue seene that I haue talked with you from heauen.
Och HERREN sade till Mose: Så skall du säga till Israels barn: I haven själva förnummit att jag har talat till eder från himmelen.
23 Ye shall not make therefore with me gods of siluer, nor gods of golde: you shall make you none.
I skolen icke göra eder gudar jämte mig; gudar av silver eller guld skolen I icke göra åt eder.
24 An altar of earth thou shalt make vnto me, and thereon shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheepe, and thine oxen: in all places, where I shall put the remembrance of my Name, I will come vnto thee, and blesse thee.
Ett altare av jord skall du göra åt mig och offra därpå dina brännoffer och tackoffer, din småboskap och dina fäkreatur. Överallt på den plats där jag stiftar en åminnelse åt mitt namn skall jag komma till dig och välsigna dig.
25 But if thou wilt make mee an altar of stone, thou shalt not buylde it of hewen stones: for if thou lift vp thy toole vpon them, thou hast polluted them.
Men om du vill göra åt mig ett altare av stenar, så må du icke bygga det av huggen sten; ty om du kommer vid stenen med din mejsel, så oskärar du den.
26 Neither shalt thou goe vp by steppes vnto mine altar, that thy filthines be not discouered thereon.
Icke heller må du stiga upp till mitt altare på trappor, på det att icke din blygd må blottas därinvid.
