Exodus 2
1 Then there went a man of the house of Leui, and tooke to wife a daughter of Leui,
Un varón de la casa de Leví había ido y tomado por mujer a una hija de Leví.
2 And the woman coceiued and bare a sonne: and when she saw that he was faire, she hid him three moneths.
Concibió la mujer y dio a luz un hijo; y viendo que era hermoso lo tuvo escondido durante tres meses.
3 But when she could no longer hide him, she tooke for him an arke made of reede, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and laide the childe therein, and put it among the bulrushes by the riuers brinke.
Pero no pudiendo ocultarlo ya por más tiempo, tomó para él una cestilla de juncos, la calafateó con betún y pez, y metió en ella al niño, y la puso entre los juncos, a la ribera del río.
4 Now his sister stood a farre off, to wit what would come of him.
Entretanto, su hermana se apostó de lejos para saber lo que le ocurría.
5 Then ye daughter of Pharaoh came downe to wash her in the riuer, and her maidens walked by the riuers side: and when shee sawe the arke among the bulrushes, she sent her maide to fet it.
Bajó la hija del Faraón para bañarse en el río, y mientras sus doncellas se paseaban por la ribera del río, divisó la cestilla en los juncos, y envió una criada suya para que se la trajese.
6 Then she opened it, and sawe it was a childe: and beholde, the babe wept: so she had compassion on it, and sayde, This is one of the Ebrewes children.
Al abrirla vio al niño que era una criatura que lloraba. Tuvo compasión de él, y exclamó: “Este es un niño de los hebreos.”
7 Then said his sister vnto Pharaohs daughter, Shall I go and cal vnto thee a nurce of the Ebrew women to nurce thee the childe?
Entonces dijo su hermana a la hija del Faraón: “¿Quieres que yo vaya y te llame una nodriza de entre las hebreas que amamante para ti este niño?”
8 And Pharaohs daughter sayde to her, Goe. So the maide went and called the childes mother,
“Anda”, le contestó la hija del Faraón. Fue pues la joven y llamó a la madre del niño.
9 To whome Pharaohs daughter sayde, Take this childe away, and nurce it for me, and I wil reward thee. Then the woman tooke the childe and nurced him.
Y le dijo la hija del Faraón: “Toma este niño, y amamántalo para mí, y yo te recompensaré.” Y tomó la mujer al niño y lo amamantó.
10 Nowe the childe grewe, and she brought him vnto Pharaohs daughter, and he was as her sonne, and she called his name Moses, because, said she, I drewe him out of the water.
El niño creció, y ella lo llevó entonces a la hija del Faraón. Así vino a ser hijo suyo, y le llamó Moisés, diciendo: “De las aguas lo he sacado.”
11 And in those dayes, when Moses was growen, he went forth vnto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: also he sawe an Egyptian smiting an Ebrewe one of his brethren.
En aquellos días cuando Moisés ya era grande, visitó a sus hermanos, y vio sus trabajos penosos; vio también cómo un egipcio daba golpes a un hebreo, a uno de sus hermanos.
12 And he looked rounde about, and when he sawe no man, hee slewe the Egyptian, and hid him in the sande.
Miró a un lado y a otro, y viendo que no había nadie, mató al egipcio y lo escondió en la arena.
13 Againe he came forth the second day, and behold, two Ebrewes stroue: and he said vnto him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellowe?
Salió también al día siguiente y vio a dos hebreos que reñían. Dijo al culpable: “¿Por qué pegas a tu hermano?”
14 And hee answered, Who made thee a man of authoritie, and a iudge ouer vs? Thinkest thou to kill mee, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared and sayde, Certainly this thing is knowen.
Él respondió: “¿Quién te ha constituido jefe y juez sobre nosotros? ¿Piensas acaso matarme como mataste al egipcio?” Por esto Moisés tuvo miedo y dijo: Seguramente ha trascendido este asunto.
15 Now Pharaoh heard this matter, and sought to slay Moses: therefore Moses fled from Pharaoh, and dwelt in the lande of Midian, and hee sate downe by a well.
Lo supo el Faraón y procuraba matar a Moisés; por lo cual Moisés huyó de la presencia del Faraón y se fue a morar en la tierra de Madián donde se sentó junto a un pozo.
16 And the Priest of Midian had seue daughters, which came and drewe water, and filled the troghes, for to water their fathers sheepe.
Tenía el sacerdote de Madián siete hijas, las cuales llegaron a sacar agua y llenar los abrevaderos, para abrevar las ovejas de su padre.
17 Then the shepherds came and droue them away: but Moses rose vp and defended them, and watered their sheepe.
Mas vinieron los pastores y las echaron. Entonces levantándose Moisés salió en su defensa y abrevó sus ovejas.
18 And whe they came to Reuel their father, he said, Howe are ye come so soone to day?
Volvieron ellas a Ragüel, su padre, y este preguntó: “¿Cómo es que venís hoy tan temprano?”
19 And they saide, A man of Egypt deliuered vs from the hand of the shepherdes, and also drew vs water ynough, and watered the sheepe.
Respondieron: “Un egipcio nos libró de las manos de los pastores, y a más de eso ha sacado agua para nosotras y abrevado las ovejas.”
20 Then he saide vnto his daughters, And where is he? why haue ye so left the man? call him that he may eate bread.
Preguntó entonces a sus hijas: “¿Dónde está? ¿Por qué habéis dejado a ese hombre? Llamadle para que coma pan.”
21 And Moses agreed to dwell with the man: who gaue vnto Moses Zipporah his daughter:
Consintió Moisés en morar con aquel hombre, el cual dio a Moisés su hija Seforá.
22 And she bare a sonne, whose name he called Gershom: for he said, I haue bene a stranger in a strange lande.
Esta le dio un hijo, al cual él llamó Gersom; pues dijo: “Extranjero soy en tierra extraña.”
23 Then in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God.
Durante este largo período murió el rey de Egipto; y los hijos de Israel, gimiendo bajo la servidumbre, clamaron, y desde su dura servidumbre subió su clamor a Dios.
24 Then God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.
Oyó Dios sus gemidos, y se acordó Dios de su pacto con Abrahán, con Isaac y con Jacob.
25 So God looked vpon the children of Israel, and God had respect vnto them.
Y miró Dios a los hijos de Israel y (los) reconoció.
