Exodus 2
1 Then there went a man of the house of Leui, and tooke to wife a daughter of Leui,
Și un bărbat din casa lui Levi a mers și a luat de soție o fiică a lui Levi.
2 And the woman coceiued and bare a sonne: and when she saw that he was faire, she hid him three moneths.
Și femeia a rămas însărcinată și a născut un fiu; și când ea l-a văzut că era frumos, l-a ascuns trei luni.
3 But when she could no longer hide him, she tooke for him an arke made of reede, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and laide the childe therein, and put it among the bulrushes by the riuers brinke.
Și când nu l-a mai putut ascunde, a luat pentru el o arcă din papură și a uns-o cu bitum și cu smoală și a pus copilul în ea; și a pus arca între trestiile de lângă malul râului.
4 Now his sister stood a farre off, to wit what would come of him.
Și sora lui a stat departe, pentru a vedea ce i se va face.
5 Then ye daughter of Pharaoh came downe to wash her in the riuer, and her maidens walked by the riuers side: and when shee sawe the arke among the bulrushes, she sent her maide to fet it.
Și fiica lui Faraon a coborât să se spele la râu; și servitoarele ei umblau pe malul râului; și când a văzut arca printre trestii și-a trimis servitoarea să o aducă.
6 Then she opened it, and sawe it was a childe: and beholde, the babe wept: so she had compassion on it, and sayde, This is one of the Ebrewes children.
Și când a deschis-o, a văzut copilul; și, iată, pruncul plângea. Iar ea a avut milă de el și a spus: Acesta este unul dintre copiii evreilor.
7 Then said his sister vnto Pharaohs daughter, Shall I go and cal vnto thee a nurce of the Ebrew women to nurce thee the childe?
Atunci sora lui a spus fiicei Faraonului: Să merg și să îți chem o doică dintre femeile evreice, ca să alăpteze copilul pentru tine?
8 And Pharaohs daughter sayde to her, Goe. So the maide went and called the childes mother,
Și fiica lui Faraon i-a spus: Du-te. Și fata a mers și a chemat pe mama copilului.
9 To whome Pharaohs daughter sayde, Take this childe away, and nurce it for me, and I wil reward thee. Then the woman tooke the childe and nurced him.
Și fiica lui Faraon i-a spus: Ia acest copil și alăptează-l pentru mine și îți voi da plățile tale. Și femeia a luat copilul și l-a alăptat.
10 Nowe the childe grewe, and she brought him vnto Pharaohs daughter, and he was as her sonne, and she called his name Moses, because, said she, I drewe him out of the water.
Și copilul a crescut și ea l-a adus la fiica lui Faraon și el a devenit fiul ei. Iar ea i-a pus numele Moise; și a spus: Pentru că l-am scos din apă.
11 And in those dayes, when Moses was growen, he went forth vnto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: also he sawe an Egyptian smiting an Ebrewe one of his brethren.
Și s-a întâmplat, în acele zile, când Moise era mare, că a ieșit la frații săi și a privit la poverile lor; și a văzut un egiptean lovind un evreu, pe unul dintre frații săi.
12 And he looked rounde about, and when he sawe no man, hee slewe the Egyptian, and hid him in the sande.
Și s-a uitat încoace și încolo și când a văzut că nu era niciun bărbat, a ucis pe egiptean și l-a ascuns în nisip.
13 Againe he came forth the second day, and behold, two Ebrewes stroue: and he said vnto him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellowe?
Și când a ieșit a doua zi, iată, doi bărbați dintre evrei se luptau între ei; și a spus celui ce a greșit: Pentru ce lovești pe aproapele tău?
14 And hee answered, Who made thee a man of authoritie, and a iudge ouer vs? Thinkest thou to kill mee, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared and sayde, Certainly this thing is knowen.
Iar el a spus: Cine te-a făcut prinț și judecător peste noi? Vrei să mă ucizi așa cum l-ai ucis pe egiptean? Și Moise s-a temut și a spus: Cu adevărat acest lucru este cunoscut.
15 Now Pharaoh heard this matter, and sought to slay Moses: therefore Moses fled from Pharaoh, and dwelt in the lande of Midian, and hee sate downe by a well.
Și când Faraon a auzit acest lucru, a căutat să-l ucidă pe Moise. Dar Moise a fugit de la fața lui Faraon și a locuit în țara lui Madian; și a șezut jos lângă o fântână.
16 And the Priest of Midian had seue daughters, which came and drewe water, and filled the troghes, for to water their fathers sheepe.
Și preotul din Madian avea șapte fiice; și ele au venit și au scos apă și au umplut jgheaburile ca să adape turma tatălui lor.
17 Then the shepherds came and droue them away: but Moses rose vp and defended them, and watered their sheepe.
Și păstorii au venit și le-au alungat; dar Moise s-a ridicat și le-a ajutat și le-a adăpat turma.
18 And whe they came to Reuel their father, he said, Howe are ye come so soone to day?
Și când ele au venit la Reuel, tatăl lor, el a spus: Cum de ați venit așa devreme astăzi?
19 And they saide, A man of Egypt deliuered vs from the hand of the shepherdes, and also drew vs water ynough, and watered the sheepe.
Iar ele au spus: Un egiptean ne-a scăpat din mâna păstorilor și de asemenea a scos apă îndeajuns pentru noi și a adăpat turma.
20 Then he saide vnto his daughters, And where is he? why haue ye so left the man? call him that he may eate bread.
Iar el a spus fiicelor sale: Și el, unde este? Pentru ce l-ați lăsat acolo pe bărbatul acela? Chemați-l, ca să mănânce pâine.
21 And Moses agreed to dwell with the man: who gaue vnto Moses Zipporah his daughter:
Și Moise s-a mulțumit să locuiască la omul acela; iar el i-a dat lui Moise pe Sefora, fiica sa.
22 And she bare a sonne, whose name he called Gershom: for he said, I haue bene a stranger in a strange lande.
Și ea i-a născut un fiu, iar el i-a pus numele Gherșom, pentru că a spus: Sunt străin într-o țară străină.
23 Then in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God.
Și s-a întâmplat, în decursul timpului, că împăratul Egiptului a murit; și copiii lui Israel oftau din cauza robiei și au strigat și strigătul lor a urcat sus la Dumnezeu din cauza robiei.
24 Then God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.
Și Dumnezeu a auzit geamătul lor și Dumnezeu și-a adus aminte de legământul său cu Avraam, cu Isaac și cu Iacob.
25 So God looked vpon the children of Israel, and God had respect vnto them.
Și Dumnezeu a privit peste copiii lui Israel și Dumnezeu a luat cunoștință de starea lor.
