Exodus 19
1 In the third moneth, after the children of Israel were gone out of the lande of Egypt, the same day came they into the wildernes of Sinai.
Al tercer mes después de la salida de la tierra de Egipto, ese mismo día, llegaron los hijos de Israel al desierto de Sinaí.
2 For they departed from Rephidim, and came to the desart of Sinai, and camped in the wildernesse: euen there Israel camped before the mount.
Habiendo partido de Rafidim, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en el desierto. Allí acampó Israel frente a la montaña.
3 But Moses went vp vnto God, for ye Lord had called out of the mount vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Iaakob, and tell the children of Israel,
Moisés subió hacia Dios, y le llamó Yahvé desde el monte, diciendo: “Así dirás a la casa de Jacob y anunciarás a los hijos de Israel:
4 Ye haue seene what I did vnto the Egyptians, and how I caryed you vpon eagles wings, and haue brought you vnto me.
Vosotros habéis visto lo que he hecho a los egipcios, y cómo os he llevado sobre alas de águila y os he traído a Mí.
5 Now therefore if ye wil heare my voyce in deede, and keepe my couenant, then ye shalbe my chiefe treasure aboue all people, though all the earth be mine.
Ahora, pues, si de veras escuchareis mi voz y guardareis mi pacto, seréis entre todos los pueblos mi propiedad particular, pues mía es toda la tierra.
6 Yee shall be vnto mee also a kingdome of Priestes, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel.
y seréis para Mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa. Estas son las palabras que has de decir a los hijos de Israel.”
7 Moses then came and called for the Elders of the people, and proposed vnto them all these things, which the Lord commanded him.
Fue Moisés y convocó a los ancianos del pueblo, a los cuales expuso todas estas palabras según Yahvé le había mandado.
8 And the people answered all together, and sayd, All that the Lord hath commanded, we will doe. And Moses reported the wordes of the people vnto the Lord.
Y todo el pueblo respondió a una voz, diciendo: “Haremos todo cuanto ha dicho Yahvé.” Y Moisés llevó a Yahvé la respuesta del pueblo.
9 And the Lord sayd vnto Moses, Lo, I come vnto thee in a thicke cloude, that the people may heare, whiles I talke with thee, and that they may also beleeue thee for euer. (for Moses had tolde the wordes of the people vnto the Lord)
Entonces dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “He aquí que Yo vendré a ti en una densa nube para que el pueblo oiga que hablo contigo, y también te dé crédito para siempre.” Y refirió Moisés a Yahvé las palabras del pueblo.
10 Moreouer, the Lord sayd vnto Moses, Goe to the people, and sanctifie them to day and to morow, and let them wash their clothes.
Luego dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Vuélvete al pueblo y santifícalos hoy y mañana. Que se laven sus vestidos,
11 And let them be ready on the third day: for the thirde day the Lord will come downe in the sight of all the people vpon mount Sinai:
y estén preparados para el día tercero; porque al tercer día descenderá Yahvé a la vista de todo el pueblo sobre el monte Sinaí.
12 And thou shalt set markes vnto the people rounde about, saying, Take heede to your selues that ye goe not vp the mount, nor touche the border of it: whosoeuer toucheth the mount, shall surely die.
Le señalarás al pueblo un límite en torno (al monte), diciendo: Guardaos de subir al monte y aun de tocar su falda. Todo el que tocare el monte morirá irremisiblemente.
13 No hand shall touche it, but he shalbe stoned to death, or striken through with darts: whether it be beast or man, he shall not liue: when the horne bloweth long, they shall come vp into the mountaine.
Nadie lo toque con la mano, pues será apedreado o asaeteado; sea animal, sea hombre, perderá la vida. Cuando suene la trompeta, entonces subirán al monte.”
14 Then Moses went downe from ye mount vnto the people, and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes.
Bajó, pues, Moisés del monte, adonde estaba el pueblo, y santificó al pueblo, y ellos lavaron sus vestidos.
15 And he said vnto the people, Be ready on the third day, and come not at your wiues.
Y dijo al pueblo: “Preparaos para el tercer día, y no toquéis mujer.”
16 And the thirde day, when it was morning, there was thunders and lightnings, and a thicke cloude vpon the mount, and the sounde of the trumpet exceeding loude, so that all the people, that was in the campe, was afrayde.
Al tercer día, al rayar el alba, hubo truenos y relámpagos y una densa nube sobre el monte, y también un toque penetrante de trompeta; por lo cual todo el pueblo que estaba en el campamento comenzó a temblar.
17 Then Moses brought the people out of the tents to meete with God, and they stoode in the nether part of the mount.
Entonces Moisés hizo salir al pueblo del campamento para ir al encuentro de Dios, y se apostaron al pie del monte.
18 And mount Sinai was all on smoke, because the Lord came downe vpon it in fire, and the smoke therof ascended, as the smoke of a fornace, and all the mount trembled exceedingly.
Todo el monte Sinaí humeaba, porque Yahvé descendía sobre él en medio de fuego. Este humo subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte temblaba fuertemente.
19 And when the sound of the trumpet blew long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by voyce.
El sonido de la trompeta se sentía cada vez más fuerte; mientras Moisés hablaba y Dios le respondía con voz (de trueno).
20 (For the Lord came downe vpon mount Sinai on the toppe of the mount) and when the Lord called Moses vp into the top of the mount, Moses went vp.
Después, cuando Yahvé había descendido sobre el monte Sinaí, sobre la cumbre del monte, llamó a Moisés a la cumbre del monte y Moisés subió,
21 Then the Lord said vnto Moses, Go down, charge the people, that they breake not their boundes, to go vp to the Lord to gaze, least many of them perish.
y dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Desciende y prohíbe terminantemente al pueblo que traspase los límites por ver a Yahvé, no sea que mueran muchos de ellos;
22 And let the Priestes also which come to the Lord be sanctified, least the Lord destroy them.
y que también los sacerdotes que se acercan a Yahvé se santifiquen para que Yahvé no haga estragos entre ellos.”
23 And Moses sayde vnto the Lord, The people can not come vp into the mount Sinai: for thou hast charged vs, saying, Set markes on the mountaine, and sanctifie it.
Moisés respondió a Yahvé: “El pueblo no podrá subir al monte Sinaí; porque Tú nos lo has prohibido, diciendo: Señala límites alrededor del monte y santifícalo.”
24 And the Lord sayd vnto him, Go, get thee downe, and come vp, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the Priestes and the people breake their boundes to come vp vnto the Lord, least he destroy them.
Yahvé le dijo: “Anda y baja, y después subirás tú y Aarón contigo; pero los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen los límites para subir hacia Yahvé, no sea que haga estragos entre ellos.”
25 So Moses went downe vnto the people, and tolde them.
Bajó, pues, Moisés adonde estaba el pueblo y se lo dijo.
