Exodus 18
1 When Iethro the Priest of Midian Moses father in lawe heard all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and howe the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt,
Մադիամի քուրմ Յոթորը՝ Մովսէսի աները, իմացաւ այն ամէնը, ինչ Տէրն արել էր Մովսէսին ու իսրայէլացի ժողովրդին. այն, որ Տէրը իսրայէլացիներին հանել էր Եգիպտոսից:
2 Then Iethro the father in lawe of Moses, tooke Zipporah Moses wife, (after he had sent her away)
Երբ Մովսէսն իր կին Սեփորային յետ ուղարկեց, Մովսէսի աները՝ Յոթորը, իր հետ վերցրեց Սեփորային
3 And her two sonnes, (whereof the one was called Gershom: for he sayd, I haue bene an aliant in a strange land:
ու նրա երկու որդիներին, որոնցից մէկի անունը Գերսամ էր եւ նշանակում էր՝ «Պանդուխտ էի օտար երկրում»,
4 And the name of the other was Eliezer: for the God of my father, said he, was mine helpe, and deliuered me from the sword of Pharaoh)
իսկ երկրորդի անունը՝ Եղիազար, որ նշանակում էր՝ «Իմ հօր Աստուածը իմ օգնականն է եւ նա փրկեց ինձ փարաւոնի ձեռքից»:
5 And Iethro Moses father in law came with his two sonnes, and his wife vnto Moses into the wildernes, where he camped by ye mout of God.
Յոթորը, որ Մովսէսի աներն էր, նրա կնոջ եւ նրա որդիների հետ եկաւ Մովսէսի մօտ՝ անապատ, ուր նա բնակւում էր Աստծու լերան վրայ:
6 And he said to Moses, I thy father in law Iethro am come to thee, and thy wife and her two sonnes with her.
Յայտնեցին Մովսէսին՝ ասելով. «Ահա քո աներ Յոթորը, կինդ ու երկու որդիներդ նրա հետ գալիս են քեզ մօտ»:
7 And Moses went out to meete his father in law, and did obeisance and kissed him, and eche asked other of his welfare: and they came into the tent.
Մովսէսն ընդառաջ գնաց իր աներոջը, ծնրադրեց նրա առաջ եւ համբուրեց նրան: Նրանք ողջագուրուեցին խաղաղութեամբ, եւ Մովսէսը նրան տարաւ իր վրանը:
8 Then Moses told his father in law all that the Lord had done vnto Pharaoh, and to the Egyptians for Israels sake, and all the trauaile that had come vnto them by the way, and howe the Lord deliuered them.
Մովսէսն իր աներոջը պատմեց այն ամէնը, ինչ իսրայէլացիների համար Տէրն արել էր փարաւոնի ու եգիպտացիների դէմ, բոլոր այն չարչարանքները, որ իրենք կրել էին ճանապարհին, եւ թէ ինչպէս էր Տէրը փրկել իրենց:
9 And Iethro reioyced at all the goodnesse, which the Lord had shewed to Israel, and because he had deliuered them out of the hande of the Egyptians.
Յոթորը զարմացաւ այն բոլոր բարեգործութիւնների համար, որ Տէրն արել էր նրանց, եւ թէ ինչպէս էր նրանց ազատել եգիպտացիների ու փարաւոնի ձեռքից:
10 Therfore Iethro sayd, Blessed be the Lord who hath deliuered you out of the hande of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh: who hath also deliuered the people from vnder the hand of the Egyptians.
Յոթորն ասաց. «Օրհնեալ լինի Տէրը, որ փրկել է սրանց եգիպտացիների ու փարաւոնի ձեռքից, որ ժողովրդին ազատել է եգիպտացիների ձեռքից:
11 Now I know that the Lord is greater then all the gods: for as they haue dealt proudly with them, so are they recompensed.
Հիմա գիտեմ, որ Տէրն աւելի մեծ է, քան բոլոր աստուածները: Դա երեւաց, երբ եգիպտացիները բռնանում էին նրանց վրայ:
12 Then Iethro Moses father in lawe tooke burnt offerings and sacrifices to offer vnto God. And Aaron and all the Elders of Israel came to eat bread with Moses father in law before God.
Մովսէսի աները՝ Յոթորը, ողջակէզ ու զոհ մատուցեց Աստծուն: Մովսէսը, Ահարոնն ու իսրայէլացի բոլոր ծերերը Մովսէսի աներոջ հետ գնացին Տիրոջ առաջ ճաշելու:
13 Now on the morow, when Moses sate to iudge the people, the people stoode about Moses from morning vnto euen.
Առաւօտեան Մովսէսը նստեց ժողովրդին դատելու: Ողջ ժողովուրդը առաւօտից մինչեւ երեկոյ կանգնել էր Մովսէսի շուրջը:
14 And when Moses father in law saw all that he did to the people, he sayde, What is this that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thy selfe alone, and all the people stande about thee from morning vnto euen?
Յոթորը տեսնելով այն ամէնը, ինչ Մովսէսն անում էր ժողովրդի համար, ասաց. «Այդ ի՞նչ ես անում դու ժողովրդին: Ինչո՞ւ ես դու միայն նստած, իսկ ժողովուրդը առաւօտից մինչեւ երեկոյ կանգնած է շուրջդ»:
15 And Moses sayd vnto his father in law, Because the people come vnto me to seeke God.
Մովսէսն ասաց աներոջը. «Որովհետեւ ժողովուրդը գալիս է ինձ մօտ Աստծուց իրաւունք հայցելու համար:
16 When they haue a matter, they come vnto me, and I iudge betweene one and another, and declare the ordinances of God, and his lawes.
Երբ նրանց միջեւ վէճ է ծագում, գալիս են ինձ մօտ: Ես դատում եմ նրանցից իւրաքանչիւրին եւ յայտնում Աստծու հրամաններն ու օրէնքները»:
17 But Moses father in law said vnto him, The thing which thou doest, is not well.
Մովսէսի աները նրան ասաց. «Արածդ ճիշտ չէ»:
18 Thou both weariest thy selfe greatly, and this people that is with thee: for the thing is too heauie for thee: thou art not able to doe it thy selfe alone.
Սոսկալի տանջանքներով ես տանջւում դու եւ քեզ հետ եղող ամբողջ ժողովուրդը: Քեզ համար ծանր է այդ գործը, դա միայնակ անել չես կարող:
19 Heare nowe my voyce, (I will giue thee counsell, and God shalbe with thee) be thou for the people to Godwarde, and report thou the causes vnto God,
Արդ, լսի՛ր ինձ, ես քեզ խորհուրդ պիտի տամ, եւ Աստուած քեզ հետ կը լինի: Աստծու մօտ եղի՛ր ժողովրդի ներկայացուցիչը եւ մարդկանց ասածը հաղորդի՛ր Աստծուն:
20 And admonish them of the ordinances, and of the lawes, and shew them the way, wherein they must walke, and the worke that they must do.
Նրանց տեղեակ կը պահես Աստծու հրամաններին ու օրէնքներին, նրանց ցոյց կը տաս այն ճանապարհը, որով ընթանալու են, եւ այն գործերը, որ պէտք է կատարեն:
21 Moreouer, prouide thou among al the people men of courage, fearing God, men dealing truely, hating couetousnesse: and appoynt such ouer them to be rulers ouer thousandes, rulers ouer hundreths, rulers ouer fifties, and rulers ouer tennes.
Դու ողջ ժողովրդի միջից ընտրի՛ր ուժեղ տղամարդկանց՝ աստուածապաշտ, արդարադատ, գոռոզութիւնն ատող մարդկանց ու ժողովրդի վրայ սրանց հազարապետներ, հարիւրապետներ, յիսնապետներ ու տասնապետներ կարգի՛ր:
22 And let them iudge the people at all seasons: but euery great matter let them bring vnto thee, and let them iudge all small causes: so shall it be easier for thee, when they shall beare the burden with thee.
Նրանք մշտապէս թող դատեն ժողովրդին, կարեւոր գործերը թող յանձնեն քեզ, իսկ փոքր դատաստանները թող անեն իրենք. դրանով կը թեթեւացնես քո գործերը, եւ նրանք կը լինեն քո օգնականները:
23 If thou do this thing, (and God so command thee) both thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go quietly to their place.
Եթէ այս բանն անես, Աստուած կը զօրացնի քեզ, դու կը կարողանաս տոկալ, եւ ողջ ժողովուրդը խաղաղութեամբ կը վերադառնայ իր տեղը»:
24 So Moses obeyed the voyce of his father in law, and did all that he had sayd:
Մովսէսն անսաց իր աներոջ ասածին եւ արեց այն ամէնը, ինչ նա ասաց իրեն:
25 And Moses chose men of courage out of all Israel, and made them heads ouer the people, rulers ouer thousandes, rulers ouer hundreths, rulers ouer fifties, and rulers ouer tennes.
Մովսէսը բոլոր իսրայէլացիների միջից ընտրեց ուժեղ տղամարդկանց, ժողովրդի վրայ նրանց հազարապետներ, հարիւրապետներ, յիսնապետներ ու տասնապետներ կարգեց: Սրանք ամբողջ ժամանակ պատրաստ էին ժողովրդին դատելու:
26 And they iudged the people at all seasons, but they brought the hard causes vnto Moses: for they iudged all small matters themselues.
Նրանք կարեւոր գործերը յանձնում էին Մովսէսին, իսկ փոքր գործերը դատում էին իրենք:
27 Afterward Moses let his father in law depart, and he went into his countrey.
Մովսէսը ճանապարհ դրեց իր աներոջը, եւ սա գնաց իր երկիրը:
