Exodus 16
1 Afterward all the Congregation of the children of Israel departed from Elim, and came to the wildernes of Sin, (which is betweene Elim and Sinai) the fiftenth day of the second moneth after their departing out of ye land of Egypt.
Von Elim zogen sie, und kam die ganze Gemeine der Kinder Israel in die Wüste Sin, die da liegt zwischen Elim und Sinai, am fünfzehnten Tage des andern Monden, nachdem sie aus Ägypten gezogen waren.
2 And the whole Congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wildernesse.
Und es murrete die ganze Gemeine der Kinder Israel wider Mose und Aaron in der Wüste
3 For the children of Israel sayde to them, Oh that we had dyed by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when wee sate by the flesh pots, when wee ate bread our bellies full: for yee haue brought vs out into this wildernesse, to kill this whole company with famine.
und sprachen: Wollte Gott, wir wären in Ägypten gestorben durch des HERRN Hand, da wir bei den Fleischtöpfen saßen und hatten die Fülle Brot zu essen! Denn ihr habt uns darum ausgeführet in diese Wüste, daß ihr diese ganze Gemeine Hungers sterben lasset.
4 Then sayd the Lord vnto Moses, Behold, I wil cause bread to rayne from heauen to you, and the people shall goe out, and gather that that is sufficient for euery day, that I may proue them, whether they wil walke in my Law or no.
Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Siehe, ich will euch Brot vom Himmel regnen lassen, und das Volk soll hinausgehen und sammeln täglich, was es des Tages bedarf, daß ich's versuche, ob es in meinem Gesetz wandele oder nicht.
5 But the sixt daye they shall prepare that, which they shall bring home, and it shalbe twise as much as they gather dayly.
Des sechsten Tages aber sollen sie sich schicken, daß sie zwiefältig eintragen, weder sie sonst täglich sammeln.
6 Then Moses and Aaron sayde vnto all the children of Israel, At euen ye shall know, that the Lord brought you out of the land of Egypt:
Mose und Aaron sprachen zu allen Kindern Israel: Am Abend sollt ihr inne werden, daß euch der HERR aus Ägyptenland geführet bat,
7 And in the morning ye shall see the glorie of the Lord: for he hath heard your grudgings against the Lord: and what are we that ye haue murmured against vs?
und des Morgens werdet ihr des HERRN HERRLIchkeit sehen; denn er hat euer Murren wider den HERRN gehöret. Was sind wir, daß ihr wider uns murret?
8 Againe Moses sayd, At euen shall the Lord giue you flesh to eate, and in the morning your fil of bread: for the Lord hath heard your murmurings, which ye murmure against him: for what are we? your murmurings are not against vs, but against the Lord.
Weiter sprach Mose: Der HERR wird euch am Abend Fleisch zu essen geben und am Morgen Brots die Fülle, darum daß der HERR euer Murren gehöret hat, das ihr wider ihn gemurret habt. Denn was sind wir? Euer Murren ist nicht wider uns, sondern wider den HERRN.
9 And Moses sayd to Aaron, Say vnto all the Congregation of the children of Israel, Draw neere before the Lord: for he hath heard your murmurings.
Und Mose sprach zu Aaron: Sage der ganzen Gemeine der Kinder Israel: Kommt herbei vor den HERRN; denn er hat euer Murren gehöret.
10 Now as Aaron spake vnto the whole Congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wildernesse, and beholde, the glory of the Lord appeared in a cloude.
Und da Aaron also redete zu der ganzen Gemeine der Kinder Israel, wandten sie sich gegen die Wüste; und siehe, die HERRLIchkeit des HERRN erschien in einer Wolke.
11 (For the Lord had spoken vnto Moses, saying,
Und der HERR sprach zu Mose:
12 I haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: tell them therefore, and say, At euen ye shall eate flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord your God)
Ich habe der Kinder Israel Murren gehöret. Sage ihnen: Zwischen Abend sollt ihr Fleisch zu essen haben und am Morgen Brots satt werden und inne werden, daß ich der HERR, euer Gott bin.
13 And so at euen the quailes came and couered the campe: and in the morning the dewe lay round about the hoste.
Und am Abend kamen Wachteln herauf und bedeckten das Heer. Und am Morgen lag der Tau um das Heer her.
14 And when the dewe that was fallen was ascended, beholde, a small round thing was vpon the face of the wildernes, small as the hoare frost on the earth.
Und als der Tau weg war, siehe, da lag es in der Wüste rund und klein, wie der Reif auf dem Lande.
15 And when the children of Israel sawe it, they sayde one to another, It is MAN, for they wist not what it was. And Moses sayd vnto them, This is the breade which the Lord hath giuen you to eate.
Und da es die Kinder Israel sahen, sprachen sie untereinander: Das ist Man; denn sie wußten nicht, was es war. Mose aber sprach zu ihnen: Es ist das Brot, das euch der HERR zu essen gegeben hat.
16 This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded: gather of it euery man according to his eating an Omer for a man according to the number of your persons: euery man shall take for them which are in his tent.
Das ist's aber, das der HERR geboten hat: Ein jeglicher sammle des, soviel er für sich essen mag, und nehme ein Gomor auf ein jeglich Haupt, nach der Zahl der Seelen in seiner Hütte.
17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some lesse.
Und die Kinder Israel taten also und sammelten, einer viel, der andere wenig.
18 And when they did measure it with an Omer, hee that had gathered much, had nothing ouer, and he that had gathered litle, had no lacke: so euery man gathered according to his eating.
Aber da man's mit dem Gomor maß, fand der nicht drüber, der viel gesammelt hatte, und der nicht drunter, der wenig gesammelt hatte, sondern ein jeglicher hatte gesammelt, soviel er für sich essen mochte.
19 Moses then said vnto them, Let no man reserue thereof till morning.
Und Mose sprach zu ihnen: Niemand lasse etwas davon über bis morgen.
20 Notwithstanding they obeyed not Moses: but some of them reserued of it till morning, and it was full of wormes, and stanke: therefore Moses was angrie with them.
Aber sie gehorchten Mose nicht. Und etliche ließen davon über bis morgen; da wuchsen Würmer drinnen, und ward stinkend. Und Mose ward zornig auf sie.
21 And they gathered it euery morning, euery man according to his eating: for when the heate of the sunne came, it was melted.
Sie sammelten aber desselben alle Morgen, soviel ein jeglicher für sich essen mochte. Wenn aber die Sonne heiß schien, zerschmolz es.
22 And the sixt day they gathered twise so much bread, two Omers for one man: then all the rulers of the Congregation came and told Moses.
Und des sechsten Tages sammelten sie des Brots zwiefältig, je zwei Gomor für einen. Und alle Obersten der Gemeine kamen hinein und verkündigten es Mose.
23 And he answered them, This is that, which the Lord hath sayde, To morowe is the rest of the holy Sabbath vnto the Lord: bake that to day which ye wil bake, and seethe that which ye wil seethe, and all that remaineth, lay it vp to be kept till the morning for you.
Und er sprach zu ihnen: Das ist's, das der HERR gesagt hat: Morgen ist der Sabbat der heiligen Ruhe des HERRN; was ihr backen wollt, das backet, und was ihr kochen wollt, das kochet; was aber übrig ist, das lasset bleiben, daß es behalten werde bis morgen.
24 And they laied it vp till the morning, as Moses bade, and it stanke not, neyther was there any worme therein.
Und sie ließen's bleiben bis morgen, wie Mose geboten hatte; da ward es nicht stinkend, und war auch kein Wurm drinnen.
25 Then Moses sayde, Eate that to day: for to day is the Sabbath vnto the Lord: to day ye shall not finde it in the fielde.
Da sprach Mose: Esset das heute, denn es ist heute der Sabbat des HERRN; ihr werdet es heute nicht finden auf dem Felde.
26 Sixe dayes shall yee gather it, but in the seuenth day is the Sabbath: in it there shalbe none.
Sechs Tage sollt ihr sammeln, aber der siebente Tag ist der Sabbat, darinnen wird's nicht sein.
27 Notwithstanding, there went out some of the people in ye seuenth day for to gather, and they found none.
Aber am siebenten Tage gingen etliche vom Volk hinaus zu sammeln, und fanden nichts.
28 And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Howe long refuse yee to keepe my commandements, and my lawes?
Da sprach der HERR zu Mose: Wie lange weigert ihr euch, zu halten meine Gebote und Gesetze?
29 Beholde, howe the Lord hath giuen you the Sabbath: therefore he giueth you the sixt day bread for two dayes: tary therefore euery man in his place: let no man goe out of his place the seuenth day.
Sehet, der HERR hat euch den Sabbat gegeben; darum gibt er euch am sechsten Tage zweier Tage Brot. So bleibe nun ein jeglicher in dem Seinen, und niemand gehe heraus von seinem Ort des siebenten Tages!
30 So the people rested the seuenth day.
Also feierte das Volk des siebenten Tages.
31 And the house of Israel called the name of it, MAN. and it was like to coriander seede, but white: and the taste of it was like vnto wafers made with hony.
Und das Haus Israel hieß es Man. Und es war wie Koriandersamen und weiß, und hatte einen Schmack wie Semmel mit Honig.
32 And Moses said, This is that which the Lord hath commanded, Fill an Omer of it, to keepe it for your posteritie: that they may see the bread wherewith I haue fed you in wildernesse, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Und Mose sprach: Das ist's, das der HERR geboten hat: Fülle ein Gomor davon, zu behalten auf eure Nachkommen, auf daß man sehe das Brot, damit ich euch gespeiset habe in der Wüste, da ich euch aus Ägyptenland führte.
33 Moses also said to Aaron, Take a pot and put an Omer full of MAN therein, and set it before the Lord to be kept for your posteritie.
Und Mose sprach zu Aaron: Nimm ein Krüglein und tu ein Gomor voll Man drein; und laß es vor dem HERRN, zu behalten auf eure Nachkommen.
34 As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron laied it vp before the Testimonie to be kept.
Wie der HERR Mose geboten hat, also ließ es Aaron daselbst vor dem Zeugnis, zu behalten.
35 And the children of Israel did eate MAN fourtie yeres, vntill they came vnto a land inhabited: they did eate MAN vntill they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
Und die Kinder Israel aßen Man vierzig Jahre, bis daß sie zu dem Lande kamen, da sie wohnen sollten; bis an die Grenze des Landes Kanaan aßen sie Man.
36 The Omer is the tenth part of the Ephah.
Ein Gomor aber ist das zehnte Teil eines Epha.
