Exodus 13
1 And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
2 Sanctifie vnto me all the first borne: that is, euery one that first openeth the wombe among the children of Israel, as well of man as of beast: for it is mine.
"Consacre-moi tout premier-né, toutes prémices des entrailles parmi les enfants d’Israël, soit homme, soit animal: c’est mon bien."
3 Then Moses sayd vnto the people, Remember this day in the which ye came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage: for by a mightie hande the Lord brought you out from thence: therefore no leauened bread shall bee eaten.
Et Moïse dit au peuple: "Qu’on se souvienne de ce jour où vous êtes sortis de l’Égypte, de la maison de servitude, alors que, par la puissance de son bras, l’Éternel vous a fait sortir d’ici et que l’on ne mange point de pain levé.
4 This day come yee out in the moneth of Abib.
C’Est aujourd’hui que vous partez, dans le mois de la germination.
5 Now when the Lord hath brought thee into the land of the Canaanites, and Hittites, and Amorites, and Hiuites, and Iebusites (which he sware vnto thy fathers, that he woulde giue thee, a land flowing with milke and honie) then thou shalt keepe this seruice in this moneth.
Donc, lorsque l’Éternel t’aura fait entrer dans le pays du Cananéen, du Héthéen, de l’Amorréen, du Hévéen et du Jébuséen, pays qu’il a juré à tes pères de te donner, pays ruisselant de lait et de miel, tu célébreras cette cérémonie dans ce même mois,
6 Seuen dayes shalt thou eate vnleauened bread, and the seuenth day shall be the feast of the Lord.
Sept jours durant, tu te nourriras d’azymes; le septième jour, fête en l’honneur de l’Éternel.
7 Vnleauened bread shall bee eaten seuen dayes, and there shall no leauened bread be seene with thee, nor yet leauen be seene with thee in all thy quarters.
On se nourrira de pains azymes durant ces sept jours; et l’on ne doit voir chez toi ni pain levé, ni levain, dans toutes tes possessions.
8 And thou shalt shew thy sonne in that day, saying, This is done, because of that which the Lord did vnto me, when I came out of Egypt.
Tu donneras alors cette explication à ton fils: ‘C’Est dans cette vue que l’Éternel a agi en ma faveur, quand je sortis de l’Égypte.’
9 And it shalbe a signe vnto thee vpon thine hande, and for a remembrance betweene thine eyes, that the Lawe of the Lord may be in thy mouth: for by a strong hand the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.
Et tu porteras comme symbole sur ton bras et comme mémorial entre tes yeux afin que la doctrine du Seigneur reste dans ta bouche, que d’un bras puissant, l’Éternel t’a fait sortir de l’Égypte.
10 Keepe therefore this ordinance in his season appoynted from yeere to yeere.
Tu observeras cette institution en son temps, à chaque anniversaire,
11 And when the Lord shall bring thee into the lande of the Canaanites, as hee sware vnto thee and to thy fathers, and shall giue it thee,
"Lorsque l’Éternel t’aura introduit dans le pays du Cananéen, selon ce qu’il a juré à toi et à tes pères et qu’il te l’aura livré,
12 Then thou shalt set apart vnto the Lord all that first openeth the wombe: also euery thing that first doeth open the wombe, and commeth forth of thy beast: the males shalbe the Lordes.
tu céderas à l’Éternel toutes prémices des entrailles: tout premier-né des animaux qui t’appartiendront, s’il est mâle, sera à l’Éternel.
13 But euery first foale of an asse, thou shalt redeeme with a lambe: and if thou redeeme him not, then thou shalt breake his necke: likewise all the first borne of man among thy sonnes shalt thou bye out.
Le premier-né d’un âne, tu le rachèteras par un agneau, sinon tu lui briseras la nuque et le premier-né de l’homme, si c’est un de tes fils, tu le rachèteras.
14 And when thy sonne shall aske thee to morowe, saying, What is this? thou shalt then say vnto him, With a mightie hande the Lord brought vs out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Et lorsque ton fils, un jour, te questionnera en disant: "Qu’est-ce que cela?" tu lui répondras: "D’Une main toute puissante, l’Éternel nous a fait sortir d’Égypte, d’une maison d’esclavage.
15 For when Pharaoh was harde hearted against our departing, the Lord then slewe all the first borne in the lande of Egypt: from the first borne of man euen to the first borne of beast: therefore I sacrifice vnto the Lord all the males that first open the wombe, but all the first borne of my sonnes I redeeme.
En effet, comme Pharaon faisait difficulté de nous laisser partir, l’Éternel fit mourir tous les premiers-nés du pays d’Égypte, depuis le premier-né de l’homme jusqu’à celui de l’animal. C’Est pourquoi j’immole au Seigneur tout premier-né mâle et tout premier-né de mes fils je dois le racheter.
16 And it shalbe as a token vpon thine hand, and as frontlets betweene thine eyes, that the Lord brought vs out of Egypt by a mightie hande.
Et il sera écrit comme symbole sur ton bras et comme fronteau entre tes yeux, que d’une main puissante l’Éternel nous a fait sortir de l’Égypte."
17 Nowe when Pharaoh had let the people go, God caried them not by the way of the Philistims countrey, though it were neerer: (for God sayd, Lest the people repent whe they see warre, and turne againe to Egypt)
Or, lorsque Pharaon eut laissé partir le peuple, Dieu ne les dirigea point par le pays des Philistins, lequel est rapproché parce que Dieu disait: "Le peuple pourrait se raviser à la vue de la guerre et retourner en Égypte."
18 But God made the people to go about by the way of the wildernesse of the red sea: and the children of Israel went vp armed out of the land of Egypt.
Dieu fit donc dévier le peuple du côté du désert, vers la mer des Joncs et les enfants d’Israël partirent en bon ordre du pays d’Égypte.
19 (And Moses tooke the bones of Ioseph with him: for he had made the children of Israel sweare, saying, God will surely visite you, and ye shall take my bones away hence with you)
Moïse emporta en même temps les ossements de Joseph car celui-ci avait formellement adjuré les enfants d’Israël, en disant: "Dieu ne manquera pas de vous visiter et alors vous emporterez mes os de ce pays."
20 So they tooke their iourney from Succoth, and camped in Etham in the edge of the wildernesse.
Ils décampèrent de Soukkoth et vinrent camper à Ètham, à l’extrémité du désert.
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloude to leade them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to giue them light, that they might go both by day and by night.
L’Éternel les guidait, le jour, par une colonne de nuée qui leur indiquait le chemin, la nuit, par une colonne de feu destinée à les éclairer, afin qu’ils pussent marcher jour et nuit.
22 He tooke not away the pillar of ye cloude by day, nor the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
La colonne de nuée, le jour et la colonne de feu, la nuit, ne cessaient de précéder le peuple.
