Exodus 10
1 Againe the Lord saide vnto Moses, Goe to Pharaoh: for I haue hardened his heart, and the heart of his seruants, that I might worke these my miracles in the middes of his realme,
Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse: va vers Pharaon, car j'ai endurci son cœur, et le cœur de ses serviteurs, afin que je mette au-dedans de lui les signes que je m'en vais faire.
2 And that thou maist declare in the eares of thy sonne, and of thy sonnes sonne, what things I haue done in Egypt, and my miracles, which I haue done among them: that ye may knowe that I am the Lord.
Et afin que tu racontes, ton fils et le fils de ton fils l'entendant, ce que j'aurai fait en Egypte, et mes signes que j'aurai faits entre eux; et vous saurez que je [suis] l'Eternel.
3 Then came Moses and Aaron vnto Pharaoh, and they said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Howe long wilt thou refuse to humble thy selfe before me? Let my people goe, that they may serue me.
Moïse donc et Aaron vinrent vers Pharaon, et lui dirent: ainsi a dit l'Eternel le Dieu des Hébreux: jusques à quand refuseras-tu de t'humilier devant ma face? Laisse aller mon peuple afin qu'ils me servent.
4 But if thou refuse to let my people go, beholde, to morowe will I bring grashoppers into thy coastes.
Car si tu refuses de laisser aller mon peuple, voici, je m'en vais faire venir demain des sauterelles en tes contrées
5 And they shall couer the face of the earth, that a man can not see the earth: and they shall eate the residue which remaineth vnto you, and hath escaped from the haile: and they shall eate all your trees that bud in the fielde.
Qui couvriront toute la face de la terre, tellement qu'on ne pourra voir la terre: et qui brouteront le reste de ce qui est échappé, que la grêle vous a laissé; et brouteront tous les arbres qui poussent dans les champs.
6 And they shall fil thine houses, and all thy seruants houses, and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers fathers haue seene, since the time they were vpon the earth vnto this day. So he returned, and went out from Pharaoh.
Et elles rempliront tes maisons, et les maisons de tous tes serviteurs; et les maisons de tous les Egyptiens; ce que tes pères n'ont point vu, ni les pères de tes pères, depuis le jour qu'ils ont été sur la terre, jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Puis ayant tourné le dos à Pharaon, il sortit d'auprès de lui.
7 Then Pharaohs seruants saide vnto him, How long shall he be an offence vnto vs? let the men go, that they may serue the Lord their God: wilt thou first knowe that Egypt is destroyed?
Et les serviteurs de Pharaon lui dirent: jusques à quand celui-ci nous tiendra-t-il enlacés? Laisse aller ces gens, et qu'ils servent l'Eternel leur Dieu. [Attendras-]tu de savoir avant cela que l'Egypte est perdue?
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought againe vnto Pharaoh, and he saide vnto them, Goe, serue the Lord your God, but who are they that shall goe?
Alors on fit revenir Moïse et Aaron vers Pharaon; et il leur dit: allez, servez l'Eternel votre Dieu. Qui sont tous ceux qui iront?
9 And Moses answered, We will go with our yong and with our olde, with our sonnes and with our daughters, with our sheepe and with our cattell will we goe: for we must celebrate a feast vnto the Lord.
Et Moïse répondit: nous irons avec nos jeunes gens et nos vieillards, avec nos fils et nos filles, avec notre menu et gros bétail; car nous avons [à célébrer] une fête solennelle à l'Eternel.
10 And he said vnto them, Let the Lord so be with you, as I will let you goe and your children: beholde, for euill is before your face.
Alors il leur dit: que l'Eternel soit avec vous, comme je laisserai aller vos petits enfants; prenez garde, car le mal est devant vous.
11 It shall not be so: nowe goe ye that are men, and serue the Lord: for that was your desire. Then they were thrust out from Pharaohs presence.
Il n'en sera [donc] pas ainsi [que vous l'avez demandé], mais vous hommes, allez maintenant, et servez l'Eternel; car c'est ce que vous demandez. Et on les chassa de devant Pharaon.
12 After, the Lord said vnto Moses, Stretch out thine hande vpon the lande of Egypt for the grashoppers, that they may come vpon the lande of Egypt, and eate all the herbes of the land, euen all that the haile hath left.
Alors l'Eternel dit à Moïse: étends ta main sur le pays d'Egypte [pour faire] venir les sauterelles, afin qu'elles montent sur le pays d'Egypte, et qu'elles broutent toute l'herbe de la terre, et tout ce que la grêle a laissé de reste.
13 Then Moses stretched foorth his rod vpon the lande of Egypt: and the Lord brought an East winde vpon the land all that day, and al that night: and in the morning the East wind brought the grashoppers.
Moïse donc étendit sa verge sur le pays d'Egypte, et l'Eternel amena sur la terre un vent Oriental tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit; [et] au matin le vent Oriental eut enlevé les sauterelles.
14 So the grashoppers went vp vpon all the land of Egypt, and remained in all quarters of Egypt: so grieuous Grashoppers, like to these were neuer before, neither after them shalbe such.
Et il fit monter les sauterelles sur tout le pays d'Egypte, et les mit dans toutes les contrées d'Egypte, elles étaient fort grosses, et il n'y en avait point eu de semblables avant elles, et il n'y en aura point de semblables après elles.
15 For they couered all the face of the earth, so that the lande was darke: and they did eate all the herbes of the lande, and all the fruites of the trees, which the haile had left, so that there was no greene thing left vpon the trees, nor among the herbes of the fielde throughout all the lande of Egypt.
Et elles couvrirent la face de tout le pays, tellement que la terre en fut couverte; et elles broutèrent toute l'herbe de la terre, et tout le fruit des arbres que la grêle avait laissé, et il ne demeura aucune verdure aux arbres, ni aux herbes des champs, dans tout le pays d'Egypte.
16 Therefore Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste, and sayde, I haue sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.
Alors Pharaon fit appeler en toute diligence Moïse et Aaron, et [leur] dit: j'ai péché contre l'Eternel votre Dieu, et contre vous.
17 And nowe forgiue mee my sinne onely this once, and pray vnto the Lord your God, that hee may take away from me this death onely.
Mais maintenant, je te prie, pardonne-moi mon péché, seulement pour cette fois; et fléchissez l'Eternel votre Dieu par prières, afin qu'il retire de moi cette mort-ci seulement.
18 Moses then went out from Pharaoh, and prayed vnto the Lord.
Il sortit donc d'auprès de Pharaon, et il fléchit l'Eternel par prières.
19 And the Lord turned a mightie strong West winde, and tooke away the grashoppers, and violently cast them into the red Sea, so that there remained not one grashopper in all the coast of Egypt.
Et l'Eternel fit lever à l'opposite un vent très-fort de l'Occident, qui enleva les sauterelles, et les enfonça dans la mer rouge. Il ne resta pas une seule sauterelle dans toutes les contrées d'Egypte.
20 But the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and hee did not let the children of Israel goe.
Mais l'Eternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne laissa point aller les enfants d'Israël.
21 Againe ye Lord said vnto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heauen, that there may be vpon the lande of Egypt darkenesse, euen darkenesse that may be felt.
Puis l'Eternel dit à Moïse: Etends ta main vers les cieux, et qu'il y ait sur le pays d'Egypte des ténèbres [si épaisses], qu'on les puisse toucher à la main.
22 Then Moses stretched forth his hande towarde heauen, and there was a blacke darkenesse in all the land of Egypt three daies.
Moïse donc étendit sa main vers les cieux; et il y eut des ténèbres fort obscures en tout le pays d'Egypte durant trois jours.
23 No man saw an other, neither rose vp from ye place where he was for three dayes: but all the children of Israel had light where they dwelt.
L'on ne se voyait pas l'un l'autre, et nul ne se leva du lieu où il était pendant trois jours; mais il y eut de la lumière pour les enfants d'Israël dans le lieu de leurs demeures.
24 The Pharaoh called for Moses and said, Go, serue the Lord: onely your sheepe and your cattel shall abide, and your children shall go with you.
Alors Pharaon appela Moïse, et lui dit: allez, servez l'Eternel; seulement que votre menu et gros bétail demeurent; même vos petits enfants iront avec vous.
25 And Moses sayd, Thou must giue vs also sacrifices, and burnt offrings that wee may doe sacrifice vnto the Lord our God.
Mais Moïse répondit: tu nous laisseras aussi amener les sacrifices et les holocaustes que nous ferons à l'Eternel notre Dieu.
26 Therefore our cattell also shall go with vs: there shall not an hoofe bee left, for thereof must we take to serue the Lord our God: neither doe wee knowe howe we shall serue the Lord, vntill we come thither.
Et même nos troupeaux viendront avec nous, sans qu'il en demeure un ongle; car nous en prendrons pour servir à l'Eternel notre Dieu; et nous ne savons pas ce que nous offrirons à l'Eternel, jusques à ce que nous soyons parvenus en ce lieu-là.
27 (But the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and he would not let them goe)
Mais l'Eternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon, et il ne voulut point les laisser aller.
28 And Pharaoh sayde vnto him, Get thee from mee: looke thou see my face no more: for whensoeuer thou commest in my sight, thou shalt dye.
Et Pharaon lui dit: va-t'en arrière de moi; donne-toi de garde de voir plus ma face; car au jour où tu verras ma face, tu mourras.
29 Then Moses said, Thou hast said well: from henceforth will I see thy face no more.
Et Moïse répondit: tu as bien dit; je ne verrai plus ta face.
