Esther 2
1 After these things, when the wrath of King Ahashuerosh was appeased, he remembred Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
Passadas estas coisas, e tendo já sido apaziguado o furor do rei Assuero, ele se lembrou de Vasti, e do que ela havia feito, e do que havia sido sentenciado contra ela.
2 And the Kings seruants that ministred vnto him, sayd, Let them seeke for the King beautifull yong virgins,
Então os servos do rei, que lhe serviam, disseram: Busquem-se ao rei moças virgens de boa aparência;
3 And let the King appoynt officers through all the prouinces of his kingdome, and let them gather all the beautiful yong virgins vnto the palace of Shushan, into the house of the women, vnder the hand of Hege the Kings eunuche, keeper of the women, to giue them their things for purification.
E o rei ponha comissários em todas as províncias de seu reino, para que juntem todas as moças virgens de boa aparência na fortaleza de Susã, na casa das mulheres, ao cuidado de Hegai, eunuco do rei, vigilante das mulheres; e sejam lhes dado seus enfeites;
4 And the mayde that shall please the King, let her reigne in the steade of Vashti. And this pleased the King, and he did so.
E a moça que agradar aos olhos do rei, reine em lugar de Vasti. E isto foi do agrado dos olhos do rei, e ele assim fez.
5 In the citie of Shushan, there was a certaine Iewe, whose name was Mordecai the sonne of Iair, the sonne of Shimei, the sonne of Kish a man of Iemini,
Havia um homem judeu na fortaleza de Susã, cujo nome era Mardoqueu, filho de Jair, filho de Simei, filho de Quis, um homem da [linhagem] de Benjamim;
6 Which had bene caryed away from Ierusalem with the captiuitie that was caryed away with Ieconiah King of Iudah (whom Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel had caryed away)
O qual tinha sido levado de Jerusalém com os cativos que foram levados com Jeconias rei de Judá, a quem Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, havia levado.
7 And he nourished Hadassah, that is Ester, his vncles daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the mayde was fayre, and beautifull to looke on: and after the death of her father, and her mother, Mordecai tooke her for his own daughter
E ele tinha criado a Hadassa, que é Ester, filha de seu tio, porque não tinha pai nem mãe; e ela tinha bela forma, e era linda de aparência; e como seu pai e sua mãe tinham morrido, Mardoqueu a havia tomado como sua filha.
8 And when the Kings commandement, and his decree was published, and many maydes were brought together to the palace of Shushan, vnder the hand of Hege, Ester was brought also vnto the Kings house vnder the hande of Hege the keeper of the women.
Sucedeu pois, que quando se divulgou o mandamento do rei e seu lei, e sendo reunidas muitas moças na fortaleza de Susã, ao cuidado de Hegai, também levaram Ester para casa do rei, ao cuidado de Hegai, vigilante das mulheres.
9 And the mayde pleased him, and she founde fauour in his sight: therefore he caused her things for purification to be giuen her speedily, and her state, and seuen comely maides to be giuer her out of the Kings house, and he gaue change to her and to her maydes of the best in the house of the women.
E a moça foi do agrado de seus olhos, e alcançou favor diante dele; por isso ele se apressou em [lhe dar] seus enfeites e suas porções de alimento, dando-lhe também sete moças escolhidas da casa do rei; e ele a passou com suas moças ao melhor [lugar] da casa das mulheres.
10 But Ester shewed not her people and her kinred: for Mordecai had charged her, that shee should not tell it.
Ester, porém, não declarou seu povo nem sua parentela; porque Mardoqueu tinha lhe mandado que não declarasse.
11 Aud Mordecai walked euery day before the court of the womens house, to knowe if Ester did well, and what should be done with her.
E todo dia Mardoqueu passeava diante do pátio da casa das mulheres, para saber como Ester estava, e que estava acontecendo com ela.
12 And when the course of euery mayd came, to go in to King Ahashuerosh, after that she had bene twelue moneths according to the maner of the women (for so were the dayes of their purifications accomplished, sixe moneths with oyle of myrrhe, and sixe moneths with sweete odours and in the purifying of the women:
E quando chegava a vez de cada uma das moças para vir ao rei Assuero, ao fim de haver estado doze meses, conforme à lei acerca das mulheres (porque assim se cumpriam os dias de seus enfeites, isto é, seis meses com óleo de mirra, e seis meses com especiarias, e [outros] enfeites de mulheres),
13 And thus went the maides vnto the King) whatsoeuer she required, was giuen her, to go with her out of the womens house vnto ye kings house.
Então assim a moça vinha ao rei; tudo quanto ela pedia se lhe dava, para vir com isso da casa das mulheres até a casa do rei.
14 In the euening she went, and on the morow she returned into the second house of the women vnder the hand of Shaashgaz the Kings eunuche, which kept the concubines: shee came in to the King no more, except shee pleased the King, and that she were called by name.
Ela vinha à tarde, e pela manhã voltava à segunda casa das mulheres, ao cuidado de Saasgaz eunuco do rei, vigilante das concubinas; ela não voltava mais ao rei, a não ser se o rei a desejasse, e fosse chamada por nome.
15 Now when the course of Ester the daughter of Abihail the vncle of Mordecai (which had taken her as his owne daughter) came, that shee should go in to the King, she desired nothing, but what Hege the Kings eunuche the keeper of the women sayde: and Ester founde fauour in the sight of all them that looked vpon her.
Chegando, pois, a vez de Ester, filha de Abiail, tio de Mardoqueu (que e havia tinha tomado por filha), para vir ao rei, nenhuma coisa pediu a não ser o que Hegai eunuco do rei, vigilante das mulheres, havia dito; e Ester alcançava o favor aos olhos de todos quantos a viam.
16 So Ester was taken vnto King Ahashuerosh into his house royall in the tenth moneth, which is the moneth Tebeth, in the seuenth yeere of his reigne.
Assim Ester foi levada ao rei Assuero a sua casa real no décimo mês, que é o mês de Tebete, no sétimo ano de seu reinado.
17 And the King loued Ester aboue all the women, and shee founde grace and fauour in his sight more then all the virgins: so that he set the crowne of the kingdome vpon her head, and made her Queene instead of Vashti.
E o rei amou a Ester mais que todas as mulheres, e alcançou diante dele favor e benevolência mais que todas as virgens; e ele pôs a coroa real em sua cabeça, e a fez rainha em lugar de Vasti.
18 Then the King made a great feast vnto all his princes, and his seruants, which was the feast of Ester, and gaue rest vnto the prouinces, and gaue gifts, according to the power of a King.
Então o rei fez um grande banquete a todos seus príncipes e servos, o banquete de Ester; e deu repouso às províncias, e deu presentes, conforme a generosidade do rei.
19 And whe the virgins were gathered ye second time, then Mordecai sate in the Kings gate.
E quando as virgens se ajuntaram pela segunda vez, Mardoqueu estava sentado à porta do rei.
20 Ester had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people, as Mordecai had charged her: for Ester did after the worde of Mordecai, as when she was nourished with him.
Ester, [porém], não tinha declarado sua parentela nem seu povo, assim como Mardoqueu havia lhe mandado; porque Ester fazia o que Mardoqueu mandava, assim como quando ele a criava.
21 In those dayes whe Mordecai sate in the Kings gate, two of the Kings eunuches, Bigthan and Teresh, which kept the doore, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the King Ahashuerosh.
Naqueles dias, estando Mardoqueu sentado à porta do rei, Bigtã e Teres, dois eunucos do rei, dos guardas da porta, ficaram muito indignados, e procuravam matar o rei Assuero.
22 And the thing was knowen to Mordecai, and he tolde it vnto Queene Ester, and Ester certified the King thereof in Mordecais name:
E isso foi percebido por Mardoqueu; então ele avisou à rainha Ester, e Ester disse ao rei em nome de Mardoqueu.
23 and when inquisition was made, it was found so: therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the booke of the Chronicles before the King.
Tendo o caso sido investigado, assim foi achado; e ambos foram pendurados em uma forca. E isso foi registrado nas crônicas diante do rei.
