Ecclesiastes 8
1 Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? the wisedome of a man doth make his face to shine: and the strength of his face shalbe changed.
ജ്ഞാനിയെപ്പോലെ ആരാണുള്ളത്? വസ്തുതകളെ അവലോകനം ചെയ്യാൻ ആർക്കാണു കഴിയുക? ജ്ഞാനം മനുഷ്യന്റെ മുഖത്തെ ദീപ്തമാക്കുകയും അതിന്റെ കാഠിന്യത്തെ മാറ്റുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
2 I aduertise thee to take heede to ye mouth of the King, and to the worde of the othe of God.
നീ ദൈവമുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ശപഥം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് രാജാവിന്റെ കൽപ്പന അനുസരിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.
3 Haste not to goe forth of his sight: stand not in an euill thing: for he will doe whatsoeuer pleaseth him.
രാജസന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് പോകാൻ തിടുക്കം കാട്ടരുത്. അദ്ദേഹം തനിക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ളത് ചെയ്യുമെന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു നീചകാര്യത്തിനുംവേണ്ടി നിലകൊള്ളരുത്.
4 Where the word of ye King is, there is power, and who shall say vnto him, What doest thou?
രാജശാസന അന്തിമം ആയിരിക്കുന്നിടത്തോളം, “അങ്ങ് എന്താണു ചെയ്യുന്നത്?” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ചോദിക്കാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും?
5 He that keepeth the commandement, shall knowe none euill thing, and the heart of the wise shall knowe the time and iudgement.
രാജകൽപ്പന അനുസരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് യാതൊരുദോഷവും ഭവിക്കുകയില്ല, ജ്ഞാനഹൃദയം യുക്തസമയവും നടപടിക്രമങ്ങളും അറിയുന്നു.
6 For to euery purpose there is a time and iudgement, because the miserie of man is great vpon him.
മനുഷ്യന്റെ ദുരിതങ്ങൾ അസഹനീയമാണെങ്കിലും, എല്ലാറ്റിനും യുക്തസമയവും നടപടിക്രമങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.
7 For he knoweth not that which shalbe: for who can tell him when it shalbe?
ഭാവിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ആർക്കും ഒന്നും അറിയാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് എന്തു സംഭവിക്കുമെന്ന് ആർക്കാണ് മറ്റൊരാളോടു പറയാൻ കഴിയുക?
8 Man is not lorde ouer the spirit to retaine the spirite: neither hath hee power in the day of death, nor deliuerance in the battell, neither shall wickednesse deliuer the possessers thereof.
തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തടഞ്ഞുനിർത്താൻ, ആത്മാവിന്മേൽ അധികാരമുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യനുമില്ല; ആയതിനാൽ തങ്ങളുടെ മരണദിനത്തിന്മേൽ അധികാരമുള്ള ആരുംതന്നെയില്ല. യുദ്ധകാലത്ത് സേനയിൽനിന്ന് ആരെയും പിരിച്ചുവിടുകയില്ല, അതുപോലെ ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തി അതു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവരെയും വിട്ടുപോകുകയില്ല.
9 All this haue I seene, and haue giuen mine heart to euery worke, which is wrought vnder the sunne, and I sawe a time that man ruleth ouer man to his owne hurt.
സൂര്യനുകീഴിൽ സംഭവിക്കുന്ന സകലവസ്തുതകളും നിരീക്ഷിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഇവയെല്ലാം ഞാൻ കണ്ടു: ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വേറൊരുവ്യക്തിയുടെമേൽ അയാളുടെ ദോഷത്തിനായി അധികാരം നടത്തുന്ന ഒരു കാലമുണ്ട്.
10 And likewise I sawe the wicked buried, and they returned, and they that came from the holy place, were yet forgotten in the citie where they had done right: this also is vanitie.
വിശുദ്ധസ്ഥലത്തു മുടങ്ങാതെ വന്നുപോകുകയും അവർ അധികാരം നടത്തിയ നഗരത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുകഴ്ച കവർന്നെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ദുഷ്ടർ ബഹുമതികളോടെ അടക്കപ്പെടുന്നതും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു. ഇതും അർഥശൂന്യം!
11 Because sentence against an euill worke is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to doe euill.
കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള ശിക്ഷ വേഗം നടപ്പിലാക്കാതിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, തെറ്റു ചെയ്യുന്നതിനുള്ള ആലോചനകൾകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയം നിറയും.
12 Though a sinner doe euill an hundreth times, and God prolongeth his dayes, yet I knowe that it shalbe well with them that feare the Lord, and doe reuerence before him.
നൂറു കുറ്റം ചെയ്ത ദുഷ്ടർ ദീർഘകാലം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമെങ്കിലും ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ ഭക്തിപൂർവം ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ അവരിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠരായിത്തീരുമെന്ന് എനിക്കറിയാം.
13 But it shall not be well to the wicked, neither shall he prolong his dayes: he shall be like a shadowe, because he feareth not before God.
ദുഷ്ടർ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് അവർക്ക് അഭിവൃദ്ധിയുണ്ടാകുകയില്ല, വൈകുന്നേരങ്ങളിലെ നിഴൽപോലെ അവരുടെ നാളുകൾ ദീർഘമാകുകയുമില്ല.
14 There is a vanitie, which is done vpon the earth, that there be righteous men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the wicked: and there be wicked men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the iust: I thought also that this is vanitie.
അർഥശൂന്യമായ മറ്റുചിലതും ഭൂമിയിൽ നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്: ദുഷ്ടർക്ക് അർഹതപ്പെട്ടതു നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്നു, നീതിനിഷ്ഠർക്ക് അർഹതപ്പെട്ടതു ദുഷ്ടർക്കും ലഭിക്കുന്നു. ഇതും അർഥശൂന്യമെന്നു ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു.
15 And I praysed ioy: for there is no goodnesse to man vnder the sunne, saue to eate and to drinke and to reioyce: for this is adioyned to his labour, the dayes of his life that God hath giuen him vnder the sunne.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ജീവിതം ആസ്വദിക്കുക അതാണ് എന്റെ നിർദേശം; ഭക്ഷിക്കുക, പാനംചെയ്യുക, ആനന്ദിക്കുക എന്നതിനെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ മറ്റൊന്നും സൂര്യനുകീഴിൽ മനുഷ്യന് ഇല്ലല്ലോ. അപ്പോൾ സൂര്യനുകീഴിൽ ദൈവം മനുഷ്യനു നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്ന ജീവിതനാളുകളിലെല്ലാം അയാളുടെ കഠിനാധ്വാനത്തിൽ ഈ ആത്മസംതൃപ്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം ഉണ്ടാകും.
16 When I applied mine heart to knowe wisedome, and to behold the busines that is done on earth, that neither day nor night the eyes of man take sleepe,
ജ്ഞാനം അറിയുന്നതിനും ഭൂമിയിലെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രയത്നം നിരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചപ്പോൾ—മനുഷ്യന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ രാത്രിയും പകലും ഉറക്കമറിയുന്നില്ല—
17 Then I behelde the whole worke of God, that man cannot finde out ye worke that is wrought vnder the sunne: for the which man laboureth to seeke it, and cannot finde it: yea, and though the wise man thinke to knowe it, he cannot finde it.
ദൈവം ചെയ്ത സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു. സൂര്യനുകീഴേ നടക്കുന്നതു പൂർണമായി ഗ്രഹിക്കാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിയുകയില്ല. എല്ലാം കണ്ടെത്താൻ മനുഷ്യർ യത്നിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അവർക്ക് അതിന്റെ അർഥം കണ്ടെത്താൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. ജ്ഞാനി തനിക്കെല്ലാമറിയാം എന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെട്ടാലും, അവർക്കത് യഥാർഥത്തിൽ ഗ്രഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല.
