Ecclesiastes 3
1 To all things there is an appointed time, and a time to euery purpose vnder the heauen.
Alles hat seine Zeit und jegliches Vornehmen unter dem Himmel seine Stunde.
2 A time to bee borne, and a time to die: a time to plant, and a time to plucke vp that which is planted.
Geborenwerden hat seine Zeit, und Sterben hat seine Zeit; Pflanzen hat seine Zeit, und Gepflanztes ausreuten hat seine Zeit;
3 A time to slay, and a time to heale: a time to breake downe, and a time to builde.
Töten hat seine Zeit, und Heilen hat seine Zeit; Zerstören hat seine Zeit, und Bauen hat seine Zeit;
4 A time to weepe, and a time to laugh: a time to mourne, and a time to dance.
Weinen hat seine Zeit, und Lachen hat seine Zeit; Klagen hat seine Zeit, und Tanzen hat seine Zeit;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones: a time to embrace, and a time to be farre from embracing.
Steine schleudern hat seine Zeit, und Steine sammeln hat seine Zeit; Umarmen hat seine Zeit, und sich der Umarmung enthalten hat auch seine Zeit;
6 A time to seeke, and a time to lose: a time to keepe, and a time to cast away.
Suchen hat seine Zeit, und Verlieren hat seine Zeit; Aufbewahren hat seine Zeit, und Wegwerfen hat seine Zeit;
7 A time to rent, and a time to sowe: a time to keepe silence, and a time to speake.
Zerreißen hat seine Zeit, und Flicken hat seine Zeit; Schweigen hat seine Zeit, und Reden hat seine Zeit;
8 A time to loue, and a time to hate: a time of warre, and a time of peace.
Lieben hat seine Zeit, und Hassen hat seine Zeit; Krieg hat seine Zeit, und Friede hat seine Zeit.
9 What profite hath hee that worketh of the thing wherein he trauaileth?
Was hat nun der, welcher solches tut, für einen Gewinn bei dem, womit er sich abmüht?
10 I haue seene the trauaile that God hath giuen to ye sonnes of men to humble them thereby.
Ich habe die Plage gesehen, welche Gott den Menschenkindern gegeben hat, sich damit abzuplagen.
11 He hath made euery thing beautifull in his time: also he hath set the worlde in their heart, yet can not man finde out the worke that God hath wrought from the beginning euen to the end.
Er hat alles schön gemacht zu seiner Zeit, auch die Ewigkeit hat er in ihr Herz gelegt, da sonst der Mensch das Werk, welches Gott getan hat, nicht von Anfang bis zu Ende herausfinden könnte.
12 I know that there is nothing good in them, but to reioyce, and to doe good in his life.
Ich habe erkannt, daß es nichts Besseres gibt unter ihnen, als sich zu freuen und Gutes zu tun in seinem Leben;
13 And also that euery man eateth and drinketh, and seeth the commoditie of all his labour. this is the gift of God.
und wenn irgend ein Mensch ißt und trinkt und Gutes genießt bei all seiner Mühe, so ist das auch eine Gabe Gottes.
14 I knowe that whatsoeuer God shall doe, it shalbe for euer: to it can no man adde, and from it can none diminish: for God hath done it, that they should feare before him.
Ich habe erkannt, daß alles, was Gott tut, für ewig ist; es ist nichts hinzuzufügen und nichts davon wegzunehmen; und Gott hat es so gemacht, daß man sich vor ihm fürchte.
15 What is that that hath bene? that is nowe: and that that shalbe, hath now bene: for God requireth that which is past.
Was ist geschehen? Was längst schon war! Und was geschehen soll, das ist längst gewesen; und Gott sucht das Vergangene wieder hervor.
16 And moreouer I haue seene vnder the sunne the place of iudgement, where was wickednesse, and the place of iustice where was iniquitie.
Und weiter sah ich unter der Sonne eine Stätte des Gerichts, da herrschte Ungerechtigkeit, und eine Stätte des Rechts, da herrschte Bosheit.
17 I thought in mine heart, God wil iudge the iust and the wicked: for time is there for euery purpose and for euery worke.
Da sprach ich in meinem Herzen: Gott wird den Gerechten wie den Gottlosen richten; denn er hat für jegliches Vorhaben und für jegliches Werk eine Zeit festgesetzt!
18 I considered in mine heart the state of the children of men that God had purged them: yet to see to, they are in themselues as beastes.
Ich sprach in meinem Herzen: Es ist wegen der Menschenkinder, daß Gott sie prüft und damit sie einsehen, daß sie in sich selbst [dem] Vieh [gleichen].
19 For the condition of the children of men, and the condition of beasts are euen as one condition vnto them. As the one dyeth, so dyeth the other: for they haue all one breath, and there is no excellency of man aboue ye beast: for all is vanitie.
Denn das Schicksal der Menschenkinder und das Schicksal des Viehs ist ein und dasselbe: die einen sterben so gut wie die andern, und sie haben alle einerlei Odem, und der Mensch hat nichts vor dem Vieh voraus; denn es ist alles eitel.
20 All goe to one place, and all was of the dust, and all shall returne to the dust.
Alle gehen an einen Ort: alles ist aus dem Staube geworden, und alles kehrt auch wieder zum Staub zurück.
21 Who knoweth whether the spirit of man ascend vpward, and the spirit of the beast descend downeward to the earth?
Wer weiß, ob der Geist des Menschen aufwärts steigt, der Geist des Tieres aber abwärts zur Erde fährt?
22 Therefore I see that there is nothing better then that a man shoulde reioyce in his affaires, because that is his portion. For who shall bring him to see what shalbe after him?
So sah ich denn, daß es nichts Besseres gibt, als daß der Mensch sich freue an seinen Werken; denn das ist sein Teil! Denn wer will ihn dahin bringen, daß er auf das sehe, was nach ihm sein wird?
