Ecclesiastes 12
1 Remember nowe thy Creator in the daies of thy youth, whiles the euill daies come not, nor the yeeres approche, wherein thou shalt say, I haue no pleasure in them:
Deja que tu mente se dirija a tu Hacedor en los días de tu juventud, mientras que los días malos no vienen, y los años se acerquen cuando digas: no tengo placer en ellos;
2 Whiles the sunne is not darke, nor ye light, nor the moone, nor the starres, nor the cloudes returne after the raine:
Mientras que el sol, o la luz, o la luna, o las estrellas, no son oscuras, o las nubes grises no regresan después de la lluvia;
3 When the keepers of ye house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow them selues, and the grinders shall cease, because they are few, and they waxe darke that looke out by ye windowes:
En el día en que los encargados de la casa tiemblan de miedo, y los hombres fuertes se inclinan, y las mujeres que trituraban el grano descansan porque su número es pequeño, y las que miran por la ventana no pueden ver;
4 And the doores shall be shut without by the base sound of the grinding, and he shall rise vp at the voice of the birde: and all the daughters of singing shall be abased.
Cuando las puertas están cerradas en la calle, y el sonido del molino es bajo, y se levanten a la voz del ave, y las hijas de la música serán humilladas.
5 Also they shalbe afraide of the hie thing, and feare shalbe in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grassehopper shall be a burden, and concupiscence shall be driuen away: for man goeth to the house of his age, and the mourners goe about in the streete.
Cuando tengan miedo de lo que es alto, y el peligro que está en el camino, y el árbol es blanco con flores, y lo menos es un peso, y el deseo se acaba, porque el hombre va a su último lugar de descanso, y los que están tristes están en las calles;
6 Whiles the siluer coarde is not lengthened, nor the golden ewer broken, nor the pitcher broken at the well, nor the wheele broken at the cisterne:
Antes de que se corte el cordón de plata, o se rompa la vasija de oro, o se rompa la olla en la fuente, o se rompe la rueda en el pozo de agua;
7 And dust returne to the earth as it was, and the spirit returne to God that gaue it.
Y el polvo vuelve a la tierra como era, y el espíritu vuelve a Dios que lo dio.
8 Vanitie of vanities, saieth the Preacher, all is vanitie.
Todas las cosas no tienen ningún propósito, dice el Predicador, todo no tiene ningún propósito.
9 And the more wise the Preacher was, the more he taught the people knowledge, and caused them to heare, and searched foorth, and prepared many parables.
Y como el Predicador fue sabio, todavía le dio conocimiento a la gente; buscando, probando y poniendo en orden una gran cantidad de dichos sabios.
10 The Preacher sought to finde out pleasant wordes, and an vpright writing, euen the wordes of trueth.
El Predicador hizo una búsqueda de palabras agradables, pero sus escritos fueron rectos y verdaderos.
11 The wordes of the wise are like goads, and like nailes fastened by the masters of the assemblies, which are giuen by one pastour.
Las palabras de los sabios son como aguijones, y los dichos agrupados son como clavos fijados con un martillo; son dados por un pastor de la congregación.
12 And of other things beside these, my sone, take thou heede: for there is none ende in making many bookes, and much reading is a wearines of the flesh.
Y además, hijo mío, toma nota de esto: de la fabricación de libros no hay fin, y mucho aprendizaje es un cansancio para la carne.
13 Let vs heare the end of all: feare God and keepe his commandements: for this is the whole duetie of man.
Esta es la última palabra. Todo se ha dicho. Teme a Dios y guarda sus leyes; porque esto es correcto para cada hombre.
14 For God will bring euery worke vnto iudgement, with euery secret thing, whether it be good or euill.
Dios juzgará toda obra, con todo lo secreto, lo bueno o lo malo.
