Ecclesiastes 10
1 Dead flies cause to stinke, and putrifie the ointment of the apoticarie: so doeth a litle follie him that is in estimation for wisedome, and for glorie.
செத்த ஈக்கள் நறுமணத் தைலத்திலும் கெட்ட நாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றன. அதுபோலவே ஒரு சிறு மூடத்தனம் ஞானத்திற்கும், மதிப்பிற்கும் மேலோங்கி நிற்கும்.
2 The heart of a wise man is at his right hand: but the heart of a foole is at his left hand.
ஞானமுள்ளவர்களின் இருதயம் நியாயத்தின் பக்கம் சாய்கிறது, மூடர்களின் இருதயமோ வழிவிலகிப் போவதையே தேடுகிறது.
3 And also when the foole goeth by the way, his heart faileth, and he telleth vnto all that he is a foole.
ஒரு மூடன் வீதியில் போகும்போதே, புத்தியற்றவனாக நடந்து எல்லோருக்கும் தான் எவ்வளவு மதியீனன் என்பதைக் காண்பிக்கிறான்.
4 If the spirite of him that ruleth, rise vp against thee, leaue not thy place: for gentlenes pacifieth great sinnes.
ஒரு ஆளுநனின் கோபம் உனக்கெதிராக மூண்டால், நீ உன் பதவியைவிட்டு விலகாதே; நிதானமாயிருந்தால் பெரிய குற்றமும் மன்னிக்கப்படும்.
5 There is an euil that I haue seene vnder the sunne, as an errour that proceedeth from the face of him that ruleth.
சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே நான் கண்ட வேறொரு தீமையும் உண்டு, ஒரு ஆளுநனிடமிருந்து வரும் ஒருவிதத் தவறே அது.
6 Follie is set in great excellencie, and the riche set in the lowe place.
மூடர்கள் பல உயர்ந்த பதவிகளில் அமர்த்தப்படுகிறார்கள்; செல்வந்தர்களோ தாழ்ந்த பதவிகளையே வகிக்கிறார்கள்.
7 I haue seene seruants on horses, and princes walking as seruants on the ground.
அடிமைகள் குதிரையில் ஏறிச் சவாரி செய்கிறதை நான் கண்டிருக்கிறேன்; பிரபுக்களோ அடிமைகளைப்போல் நடந்து செல்வதையும் கண்டிருக்கிறேன்.
8 He that diggeth a pit, shall fal into it, and he that breaketh the hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
குழி ஒன்றை வெட்டுகிறவன் அதில் விழக்கூடும்; பழைய சுவரை இடிப்பவனையும் பாம்பு கடிக்கக்கூடும்.
9 He that remooueth stones, shall hurt himselfe thereby, and hee that cutteth wood, shall be in danger thereby.
கற்களைக் குழிகளில் தோண்டி எடுப்பவன் அவற்றால் காயப்படக்கூடும்; மரக்கட்டையை பிளக்கிறவனுக்கு அதனாலே ஆபத்து உண்டாகலாம்.
10 If the yron be blunt, and one hath not whet the edge, he must then put to more strength: but the excellencie to direct a thing is wisedome.
ஒரு கோடரி மழுங்கிப் போய் அதின் முனை கூர்மையாக்கப்படாமல் இருந்தால், அதிக பலம் வேண்டியிருக்கும். ஆனால் தொழில் திறமையோ வெற்றியைக் கொண்டுவரும்.
11 If the serpent bite, when he is not charmed: no better is a babbler.
ஒரு பாம்பை வசியப்படுத்துமுன் அது கடிக்குமானால், அதை வசியப்படுத்தும் வித்தைத் தெரிந்தும் பயனில்லை.
12 The words of ye mouth of a wise man haue grace: but the lippes of a foole deuoure himselfe.
ஞானமுள்ளவர்களின் வாயிலிருந்து வரும் வார்த்தைகள் தயவுள்ளவைகள்; மூடனோ தன் உதடுகளாலேயே அழிக்கப்படுகிறான்.
13 The beginning of the wordes of his mouth is foolishnesse, and the latter ende of his mouth is wicked madnesse.
அவனுடைய வார்த்தைகள் ஆரம்பத்தில் மூடத்தனமானவை; முடிவிலோ கொடிய பைத்தியக்காரத்தனமானவை.
14 For the foole multiplieth woordes, saying, Man knoweth not what shall be: and who can tell him what shall be after him?
மூடன் வார்த்தைகளை அதிகமாக்குகிறான். ஒரு மனிதனும் வரப்போவதை அறியான். அவனுக்குப்பின் என்ன நடக்கும் என்பதை யாரால் அவனுக்குச் சொல்லமுடியும்?
15 The labour of the foolish doeth wearie him: for he knoweth not to goe into the citie.
மூடனின் வேலை அவனையே களைப்படையச் செய்யும்; ஏனெனில், பட்டணத்திற்குப் போகும் வழி அவனுக்குத் தெரியாது.
16 Woe to thee, O lande, when thy King is a childe, and thy princes eate in the morning.
அடிமையை அரசனாகவும் விடியற்காலமே விருந்து உண்கிறவர்களை பிரபுக்களாகவும் கொண்ட நாடே, உனக்கு ஐயோ!
17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy King is the sonne of nobles, and thy princes eate in time, for strength and not for drunkennesse.
உயர்குடியில் பிறந்தவனை அரசனாகக் கொண்ட நாடே, நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாய். குடிபோதைக்கு அல்லாமல் தங்கள் பெலத்திற்காக உரிய நேரத்தில் சாப்பிடுகிற இளவரசர்களைக் கொண்ட நாடே, நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாய்.
18 By slouthfulnes the roofe of the house goeth to decaie, and by the ydlenesse of the handes the house droppeth through.
சோம்பேறியினுடைய வீட்டுக்கூரை வளைந்து தொங்கும்; செயலற்ற கைகளினால் அவனுடைய வீடு ஒழுகும்.
19 They prepare bread for laughter, and wine comforteth the liuing, but siluer answereth to all.
மகிழ்ச்சிக்காகவே விருந்து செய்யப்படுகிறது, திராட்சை இரசம் வாழ்க்கையை களிப்புள்ளதாக்குகிறது, ஆனால் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் தேவையானது பணமே.
20 Curse not the King, no not in thy thought, neither curse the rich in thy bed chamber: for the foule of the heauen shall carie the voice, and that which hath wings, shall declare the matter.
உனது சிந்தனையிலும் அரசனை நிந்திக்காதே, உனது படுக்கை அறையிலும் பணக்காரனை சபிக்காதே, ஏனெனில் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவை உன் வார்த்தைகளைக் கொண்டு செல்லலாம், சிறகடிக்கும் பறவை நீ சொல்வதைப் போய்ச் சொல்லலாம்.
