Deuteronomy 1
1 These bee the wordes which Moses spake vnto all Israel, on this side Iorden in the wildernesse, in the plaine, ouer against the red Sea, betweene Paran and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Di-zahab.
Estas son las palabras que Moisés dijo a todo Israel a este lado del Jordán, en el desierto de Araba, frente a Suf, entre Parán, por un lado, y Tofel, Labán, Hazerot y Dizahab, por el otro.
2 There are eleuen dayes iourney from Horeb vnto Kadesh-barnea, by the way of mout Seir.
Es un viaje de once días desde Horeb por el camino del Monte Seir hasta Cades-Barnea.
3 And it came to passe in the first day of the eleuenth moneth, in the fourtieth yeere that Moses spake vnto the children of Israel according vnto all that the Lord had giuen him in commandement vnto them,
Ahora, en el cuadragésimo año, el primer día del mes undécimo, Moisés dio a los hijos de Israel todas las órdenes que el Señor le había dado para ellos;
4 After that he had slaine Sihon the king of the Amorites which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, which dwelt at Ashtaroth in Edrei.
Después de vencer a Sihon, rey de los amorreos, reinando en Hesbón, y Og, rey de Basán, gobernando en Astarot, en Edrei.
5 On this side Iorden in the lande of Moab began Moses to declare this lawe, saying,
Al otro lado del Jordán, en la tierra de Moab, Moisés le dio esta ley al pueblo diciendo:
6 The Lord our God spake vnto vs in Horeb, saying, Ye haue dwelt long ynough in this mount,
El Señor nuestro Dios nos dijo en Horeb: Ustedes han estado lo suficiente en esta montaña:
7 Turne you and depart, and goe vnto the mountaine of the Amorites, and vnto all places neere thereunto in the plaine, in the mountaine, or in the valley: both Southwarde, and to the Sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and vnto Lebanon: euen vnto the great riuer, the riuer Perath.
Regresen ahora, y continúen su camino hacia la región montañosa de los amorreos y los lugares cercanos a ella, en Araba y la región montañosa y en los valles y en el Neguev junto al mar, todo la tierra de los cananeos, y el Líbano, hasta el gran río, el río Eufrates.
8 Beholde, I haue set the land before you: go in and possesse that land which the Lord sware vnto your fathers, Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, to giue vnto them and to their seede after them.
Miren, toda la tierra está delante de ustedes; entren y tomen posesión de la tierra que el Señor dio mediante un juramento a sus padres, Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y a su descendencia después de ellos.
9 And I spake vnto you the same time, saying, I am not able to beare you my selfe alone:
En ese tiempo les dije: No puedo encargarme de ustedes yo solo;
10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you: and beholde, ye are this day as the starres of heauen in nomber:
El Señor su Dios los ha multiplicado, y ahora eres como las estrellas del cielo en número.
11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many moe as ye are, and blesse you, as he hath promised you)
¡Que el Señor, el Dios de sus padres, les haga mil veces más numeroso de lo que son, y les dé su bendición como él lo ha dicho!
12 Howe can I alone beare your combrance and your charge, and your strife?
¿Cómo es posible que yo sea responsable de ustedes y asuma el peso de todos sus problemas y sus argumentos?
13 Bring you men of wisedome and of vnderstanding, and knowen among your tribes, and I will make them rulers ouer you:
Escojan de entre ustedes mismos, de sus tribus, hombres sabios, lejanos y respetados entre ustedes, y yo los haré gobernantes sobre ustedes.
14 Then ye answered me and said, The thing is good that thou hast commanded vs to doe.
Y respondieron y me dijeron: Es bueno que hagamos lo que dices.
15 So I tooke the chiefe of your tribes wise and knowen men, and made them rulers ouer you, captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer hundreds, and captaines ouer fiftie, and captaines ouer tenne, and officers among your tribes.
Así que tomé a los jefes de sus tribus, hombres sabios y respetados, y los hice gobernantes sobre ustedes, capitanes de miles y capitanes de cientos y capitanes de cincuenta y capitanes de decenas, y supervisores de sus tribus.
16 And I charged your iudges that same time, saying, Heare the controuersies betweene your brethren, and iudge righteously betweene euery man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
Y en ese momento di órdenes a sus jueces, diciendo: Permite que todas las preguntas entre sus hermanos se presenten ante ustedes para escuchar, y tomen decisiones rectas entre un hombre y su hermano o uno de otra nación que esté con él.
17 Ye shall haue no respect of person in iudgement, but shall heare the small aswell as the great: yee shall not feare the face of man: for the iudgement is Gods: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring vnto me, and I will heare it.
Al juzgar, no permitas que la posición de un hombre influya en tu decisión; Den oído igualmente a pequeños y grandes; no teman a ningún hombre, porque es Dios quien es el juez; y cualquier causa por la cual ustedes no puedan tomar una decisión, ustedes deben comparecer ante mí y les daré una audiencia.
18 Also I commanded you the same time all the things which ye should doe.
Y en ese momento les di todas las órdenes que debían hacer.
19 Then we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wildernesse (as yee haue seene) by the way of the mountaine of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded vs: and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
Luego pasamos de Horeb, a través de tan grande y terrible desierto que ustedes vieron, en nuestro camino a la región montañosa de los amorreos, como el Señor nos dio órdenes; y llegamos a Cades-barnea.
20 And I saide vnto you, Yee are come vnto the mountaine of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doeth giue vnto vs.
Y les dije: Han venido a la región montañosa de los amorreos, que el Señor nuestro Dios nos está dando.
21 Beholde, the Lord thy God hath layde the land before thee: go vp and possesse it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath saide vnto thee: feare not, neither be discouraged.
Mira, el Señor su Dios ha puesto la tierra en sus manos: suban y tomen posesión, como el Señor, el Dios de sus padres, les ha dicho; No tengan miedo y no se desanimen.
22 Then ye came vnto me euery one, and said, We wil send men before vs, to search vs out the land and to bring vs word againe, what way we must go vp by, and vnto what cities we shall come.
Y vinieron a mi, cada uno de ustedes, se acercaron a mí y dijeron: Enviaremos a los hombres delante de nosotros a recorrer la tierra con cuidado y después de explorar que nos digan cómo debemos ir a los pueblos a los que nos dirigimos.
23 So the saying pleased me well, and I tooke twelue men of you, of euery tribe one.
Y lo que dijiste me pareció bien, y tomé de ustedes a doce hombres, uno de cada tribu;
24 Who departed, and went vp into the mountaine, and came vnto the riuer Eshcol, and searched out the land.
Y subieron a la región montañosa y llegaron al valle de Escol, y vieron lo que había allí.
25 And tooke of the fruite of the land in their hands, and brought it vnto vs, and brought vs worde againe, and sayd, It is a good land, which the Lord our God doeth giue vs.
Y tomando en sus manos parte del fruto de la tierra, descendieron de nuevo a nosotros y nos contaron, diciendo: Es una buena tierra que el Señor nuestro Dios nos está dando.
26 Notwithstanding, ye would not go vp, but were disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord your God,
Pero yendo contra la orden del Señor su Dios, no subieron.
27 And murmured in your tentes, and sayd, Because the Lord hated vs, therefore hath hee brought vs out of the land of Egypt, to deliuer vs into the hand of the Amorites, and to destroy vs.
E hicieron airadas protestas en sus tiendas, y dijeron: En su odio por nosotros, el Señor nos ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto, para entregarnos en manos de los amorreos para nuestra destrucción.
28 Whither shall we go vp? our brethren haue discouraged our hearts, saying, The people is greater, and taller then we: the cities are great and walled vp to heauen: and moreouer we haue seene the sonnes of the Anakims there.
¿A dónde vamos a subir? Nuestros hermanos han llenado nuestros corazones de temor diciendo: La gente es más que nosotros y más alta que nosotros, y las ciudades son grandes y están amuralladas hasta el cielo; y más que esto, hemos visto a los hijos de Anac allí.
29 But I sayd vnto you, Dread not, nor be afrayd of them.
Entonces les dije: No teman a ellos ni tengan miedo.
30 The Lord your God, who goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did vnto you in Egypt before your eyes,
El Señor, su Dios, que va delante de ustedes, luchará por ustedes y hará las maravillas que él hizo por ustedes en Egipto ante sus ojos;
31 And in the wildernesse, where thou hast seene how the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doeth beare his sonne, in all the way which ye haue gone, vntill ye came vnto this place.
Y en el desierto, donde has visto cómo el Señor te llevó, como lo hace un hombre a su hijo, en todo tu viaje hasta que llegaron a este lugar.
32 Yet for all this ye did not beleeue the Lord your God,
Pero por todo esto, no tuvieron fe en el Señor su Dios,
33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tentes in, in fire by night, that ye might see what way to goe, and in a cloude by day.
¿Quién iba delante de ustedes en su camino, buscando un lugar donde pudieran poner sus tiendas de campaña, en el fuego por la noche, iluminando el camino en que debían ir, y en una nube por el día.
34 Then the Lord heard the voyce of your wordes, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
Y él Señor, oyendo sus palabras, se enojó y dijo con juramento.
35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this froward generation, see that good land, which I sware to giue vnto your fathers,
En verdad, ninguna de estas generaciones malvadas verá la buena tierra que dije que daría a sus padres.
36 Saue Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh: he shall see it, and to him will I giue the land that he hath troden vpon, and to his children, because he hath constantly followed the Lord.
Pero solo Caleb, el hijo de Jefone, lo verá; y a él y a sus hijos les daré la tierra sobre la cual han ido sus pies, porque ha sido fiel al Señor con todo su corazón.
37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not goe in thither,
Y, además, el Señor se enojó conmigo por culpa de ustedes, diciendo: Tú mismo no entrarás en esa tierra.
38 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: incourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherite it.
Josué, el hijo de Nun, tu siervo, entrará en la tierra; dile que debe ser fuerte, porque él será el guía de Israel en su herencia.
39 Moreouer, your children, which ye sayd should be a praye, and your sonnes, which in that day had no knowledge betweene good and euill, they shall go in thither, and vnto them wil I giue it, and they shall possesse it.
Y sus pequeños, que, según dijiste, vendrían a manos extrañas, tus hijos, que ahora no tienen conocimiento del bien o del mal, entrarán en esa tierra, y a ellos se la daré y ellos la heredarán.
40 But as for you, turne backe, and take your iourney into the wildernesse by the way of the red Sea.
Pero en cuanto a ustedes, regresen, viajando al desierto por el camino del Mar Rojo.
41 Then ye answered and sayd vnto me, We haue sinned against the Lord, we wil go vp, and fight, according to all that the Lord our God hath commanded vs: and ye armed you euery man to the warre, and were ready to goe vp into the mountaine.
Entonces me dijeron: Hemos hecho lo malo contra el Señor, subiremos al ataque, como el Señor nuestro Dios nos ha dado órdenes. Y armándose cada uno, se prepararon para subir sin cuidado a la región montañosa.
42 But the Lord said vnto me, Say vnto them, Goe not vp, neither fight, (for I am not among you) least ye fall before your enemies.
Y el Señor me dijo: Diles: No suban al ataque; porque no estoy entre ustedes, y serán vencidos por los que están contra ustedes.
43 And when I told you, ye would not heare, but rebelled against the commandement of the Lord, and were presumptuous, and went vp into the mountaine.
Les dije esto, pero no prestaron atención y se fueron en contra de las órdenes del Señor, y en su orgullo subieron a la región montañosa.
44 Then the Amorites which dwelt in that mountaine came out against you, and chased you (as bees vse to doe) and destroied you in Seir, euen vnto Hormah.
Y los amorreos que estaban en la región montañosa salieron contra ustedes y los hicieron huir, persiguiéndote como a las abejas, y te vencieron en Seir, llevándote hasta Horma.
45 And when ye came againe, ye wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not heare your voyce, nor incline his eares vnto you.
Y volvieron, llorando delante del Señor; pero el Señor no prestó atención a tus gritos y no los escuchó.
46 So ye abode in Kadesh a long time, according to the time that ye had remained before.
Así que te mantuviste esperando en Cades durante mucho tiempo.
