Deuteronomy 4
1 Nowe therefore hearken, O Israel, vnto the ordinances and to the lawes which I teache you to doe, that ye may liue and goe in, and possesse the lande, which the Lord God of your fathers giueth you.
१आता अहो इस्राएल लोकहो, मी जे नियम आणि आज्ञा सांगतो त्या नीट ऐकून घ्या. त्यांचे पालन केलेत तर जिवंत रहाल आणि तुमच्या पूर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वर जो देश तुम्हास देणार आहे त्याचा ताबा घ्याल.
2 Ye shall put nothing vnto the word which I command you, neither shall ye take ought there from, that ye may keepe the commandements of the Lord your God which I commande you.
२माझ्या आज्ञांमध्ये तुम्ही कमी किंवा अधिक असे काही करु नका. अशासाठी की, तुमचा देव ह्याच्या ज्या आज्ञा मी तुम्हास देत आहे. त्या तुम्ही पाळाव्या.
3 Your eyes haue seene what the Lord did because of Baal-Peor, for al the men that folowed Baal-Peor the Lord thy God hath destroyed euery one from among you.
३बआल-पौराच्या विषयी परमेश्वराने काय केले हे तुम्ही तुमच्या डोळ्यांनी पाहीले आहे; जे बआल-पौराच्या नादी लागले त्यांना तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याने तुमच्यामधून नष्ट केले आहे.
4 But ye that did cleaue vnto the Lord your God, are aliue euery one of you this day.
४परंतु तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याच्याशी जे जडून राहिले ते तुम्ही आज जिवंत आहा.
5 Behold, I haue taught you ordinances, and lawes, as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should doe euen so within the land whither ye goe to possesse it.
५पाहा माझा देव परमेश्वर याने आज्ञा दिली त्याप्रमाणे विधी आणि नियम मी तुम्हास शिकवले. तुम्ही जो देश ताब्यात घेण्यास जात आहात तेथे तुम्ही ते पाळावे म्हणून मी ते सांगितले.
6 Keepe them therefore, and doe them; for that is your wisdome, and your vnderstanding in the sight of the people, which shall heare all these ordinances, and shall say, Onely this people is wise, and of vnderstanding, and a great nation.
६त्यांचे काटेकोरपणे पालन करा. म्हणजे तुम्ही सूज्ञ व समजूतदार आहात हे इतर देशवासीयांना कळेल. हे नियम ऐकून ते म्हणतील, खरेच, हे महान राष्ट्र बुद्धिमान व समंजस लोकांचे आहे.
7 For what nation is so great, vnto whome the gods come so neere vnto them, as the Lord our God is neere vnto vs, in all that we call vnto him for?
७आपण आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याचा धावा करतो तेव्हा तो आपल्या जवळच असतो, असे देव जवळ असणारे महान राष्ट्र दूसरे कोणते आहे?
8 And what nation is so great, that hath ordinances and lawes so righteous, as all this Lawe, which I set before you this day?
८ज्या विधी आणि नियमांची शिकवण मी तुम्हास दिली तसे नियमशास्त्र असणारे दुसरे राष्ट्र तरी कोठे आहे?
9 But take heede to thy selfe, and keepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thinges which thine eyes haue seene, and that they depart not out of thine heart, all the dayes of thy life: but teach them thy sonnes, and thy sonnes sonnes:
९पण तुम्ही हे डोळ्यांत तेल घालून जपले पाहिजे. नाहीतर तुम्ही ज्या गोष्टी पाहिल्या आहेत त्या विसरून जाल. आपल्या मुला-नातवंडांना त्याची माहिती द्या.
10 Forget not the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said vnto me, Gather me the people together, and I wil cause them heare my wordes, that they may learne to feare me all the dayes that they shall liue vpon the earth, and that they may teache their children:
१०ज्या दिवशी तुम्ही सर्व होरेब पर्वतापाशी तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याच्यामोर उभे होता, तो दिवस आठवा. परमेश्वर मला म्हणाला होता, मला काही सांगायचे आहे तेव्हा सर्वांना एकत्र बोलाव, म्हणजे आयुष्यभर ते माझ्याबद्दल भय बाळगतील. आपल्या मुलाबाळांनाही तशीच शिकवण देतील.
11 Then came you neere and stoode vnder the mountaine, and the mountaine burnt with fire vnto the mids of heauen, and there was darkenesse, cloudes and mist.
११मग तुम्ही जवळ आलात व पर्वताच्या पायथ्याशी उभे राहिलात. तेव्हा डोंगर उभा पेटला होता व त्याच्या ज्वाला आकाशाला भिडल्या होत्या. सर्वत्र काळेकुट्ट ढग आणि अंधार पसरला होता.
12 And the Lord spake vnto you out of the middes of the fire, and ye heard the voyce of the wordes, but sawe no similitude, saue a voyce.
१२परमेश्वर त्या अग्नीतून तुमच्याशी बोलला. तुम्हास आवाज ऐकू आला पण तुम्ही कोणती आकृतीही पाहीली नाही, फक्त वाणी ऐकू आली.
13 Then hee declared vnto you his couenant which he commanded you to doe, euen the ten commandements, and wrote them vpon two tables of stone.
१३परमेश्वराने आपला करार करून तुम्हास सांगितले. त्याने तुम्हास दहा आज्ञा सांगितल्या व त्यांचे पालन करण्याविषयी तुम्हास आज्ञा दिली. त्याने त्या आज्ञा दोन दगडी पाट्यांवर लिहून दिल्या.
14 And the Lord commanded me that same time, that I should teach you ordinances and lawes, which ye should obserue in the lande, whither ye goe, to possesse it.
१४त्याचवेळी तुम्ही ज्या देशात वस्ती करणार होता, तेथे पाळण्यासाठी आणखीही काही विधी नियम परमेश्वराने मला तुम्हास शिकवण्यास सांगितले.
15 Take therefore good heede vnto your selues: for ye sawe no image in the day that the Lord spake vnto you in Horeb out of the middes of the fire:
१५होरेब पर्वतावरुन अग्नीतून परमेश्वर तुमच्याशी बोलला. त्यादिवशी तो तुम्हास दिसला नाही. कारण त्यास कोणताही आकार नव्हता.
16 That ye corrupt not your selues, and make you a grauen image or representation of any figure: whither it be the likenes of male or female,
१६तेव्हा जपून असा. कोणत्याही सजीवाची प्रतिमा किंवा खोटी दैवते उभारण्याचे पाप करून स्वत: ला बिघडवू नका. स्त्री किंवा पुरुषासारखी दिसणारी मूर्ती करु नका.
17 The likenes of any beast that is on earth, or the likenesse of any fethered foule that flieth in the aire:
१७जमिनीवरील संचार करणारे प्राणी किंवा आकाशात उडणारा पक्षी,
18 Or the likenesse of any thing that creepeth on the earth, or the likenesse of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth,
१८जमिनीवर सरपटणारा जीव किंवा समुद्रातील मासा अशासारख्या कशाचीही प्रतीमा करू नका.
19 And lest thou lift vp thine eyes vnto heauen, and when thou seest the sunne and the moone and the starres with all the host of heauen, shouldest bee driuen to worship them and serue them, which the Lord thy God hath distributed to all people vnder the whole heauen.
१९तसेच आकाशातील सूर्य, चंद्र, तारे आणि इतर गोष्टी पाहाताना हबकून जावू नका. त्यांच्यापुढे लोटांगण घालून त्यांची उपासना करु नका. या गोष्टी तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याने आकाशाखालील सर्व लोकांस देऊन ठेवल्या आहेत.
20 But the Lord hath taken you and brought you out of the yron fornace: out of Egypt to be vnto him a people and inheritance, as appeareth this day.
२०पण तुम्हास परमेश्वराने मिसर देशाबाहेर आणले आणि तुम्हास स्वत: चे खास लोक केले. जणू लोखंड वितळविन्याच्या धधगत्या भट्टीतून त्याने तुम्हास बाहेर काढले आणि तुम्ही त्याच्या वतनाचे लोक आहा!
21 And the Lord was angrie with me for your words, and sware that I should not goe ouer Iorden, and that I should not goe in vnto that good land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee for an inheritance.
२१तुमच्यामुळे परमेश्वराचा माझ्यावर कोप झाला व त्याने शपथेने सांगितले की मी यार्देन नदीपलीकडे पाऊल ठेवू शकणार नाही. तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याने तुम्हास दिलेल्या वतनात तुम्ही प्रवेश करणार आहात, तेथे मला प्रवेश नाही.
22 For I must die in this land, and shall not go ouer Iorden: but ye shall goe ouer, and possesse that good land.
२२त्यामुळे मी येथेच देह ठेवणार आहे. मी यार्देन नदीपलीकडे येऊ शकत नसलो तरी तुम्ही तो चांगला प्रदेश ताब्यात घ्या.
23 Take heede vnto your selues, least ye forget the couenant of the Lord your God which hee made with you, and least ye make you any grauen image, or likenes of any thing, as the Lord thy God hath charged thee.
२३तेथे तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने तुमच्याशी केलेला पवित्र करार विसरू नका व त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळा. कोणत्याही प्रकारे कोणत्याही आकाराची मूर्ती करु नका.
24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, and a ielous God.
२४कारण मूर्तीपूजेचा त्यास तिटकारा आहे. परमेश्वर देव ईर्ष्यावान असून तो क्षणात भस्म करणारा अग्नी आहे.
25 When thou shalt beget children and childrens children, and shalt haue remained long in the land, if ye corrupt your selues, and make any grauen image, or likenes of any thing, and worke euill in the sight of the Lord thy God, to prouoke him to anger,
२५तुम्हास पुत्रपौत्र होऊन त्या देशात तुम्ही दीर्घकाळ राहिल्यावर जर तुम्ही बिघडून कोणत्याही वस्तूची कोरीव मूर्ती कराल आणि आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्या दृष्टीने जे वाईट ते कराल तर त्यास क्रोध येईल.
26 I call heauen and earth to record against you this day, that ye shall shortly perish from the land, whereunto ye goe ouer Iorden to possesse it: ye shall not prolong your dayes therein, but shall vtterly be destroyed.
२६तर आज मी तुम्हास सावध करत आहे; याला स्वर्ग आणि पृथ्वी साक्षी आहेत, ज्या देशाचे वतन मिळवायला तुम्ही यार्देन नदी ओलांडून जात आहात तेथून तुमचा लवकरच अगदी नायनाट होईल; तेथे तुम्ही फार दिवस राहणार नाहीत, पण तुमचा समूळ नाश होईल.
27 And the Lord shall scatter you among the people, and ye shall be left few in nomber among the nations, whither the Lord shall bring you:
२७परमेश्वर देव तुम्हास वेगवेगळ्या राष्ट्रात विखरून टाकील. आणि जेथे जेथे तो पाठवील तेथे तुमची संख्या अगदीच अल्प राहील.
28 And there ye shall serue gods, euen ye worke of mans hand, wood, and stone, which neither see, nor heare, nor eate, nor smelll.
२८तेथे तुम्ही मनुष्यांनी घडवलेल्या दगडी अगरलाकडी दैवतांची, जे पाहू शकत नाहीत, ऐकत नाहीत, खात नाहीत की वास घेत नाहीत अशांची सेवा कराल.
29 But if from thence thou shalt seeke the Lord thy God, thou shalt finde him, if thou seeke him with all thine heart, and with all thy soule.
२९परंतु तेथूनही तुम्ही परमेश्वरास, आपल्या देवाला पूर्ण जिवेभावे शरण गेला तर तो तुम्हास पावेल.
30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come vpon thee, at the length if thou returne to the Lord thy God, and bee obedient vnto his voyce,
३०या सर्व गोष्टी घडतील, तुम्ही संकटात पडाल तेव्हा तुम्ही पुन्हा आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्याकडेच परतून याल व त्यास शरण जाल.
31 (For the Lord thy God is a mercifull God) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the couenant of thy fathers, which hee sware vnto them.
३१आपला देव परमेश्वर दयाळू आहे. तो तुम्हास अंतर देणार नाही. तो तुमचा सर्वनाश होऊ देणार नाही. तो तुमच्या पूर्वजांशी त्याने शपथपूर्वक केलेला करार तो विसरणार नाही.
32 For inquire now of the dayes that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man vpon the earth, and aske from the one ende of heauen vnto the other, if there came to passe such a great thing as this, or whether any such like thing hath bene heard.
३२असा चमत्कार कधी घडला आहे का? कधीच नाही. पूर्वीचे आठवून बघा. तुमच्या जन्मा आधीपासूनच्याही सर्व गोष्टी आठवा. देवाने पृथ्वीवर मनुष्य निर्माण केला. तेव्हापासून आजपर्यंत जगाच्या कानाकोपऱ्यात घडलेल्या सर्व गोष्टी पाहा. असा महान चमत्कार कोणाच्या ऐकण्यात तरी आहे का?
33 Did euer people heare the voyce of God speaking out of the middes of a fire, as thou hast heard, and liued?
३३अग्नीमधून साक्षात देव तुमच्याशी बोलला, ते तुम्ही ऐकले आणि तरीही तुम्ही जिवंत आहात. असे कधी दुसऱ्या राष्ट्राच्या बाबतीत घडले आहे?
34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from among nations, by tentations, by signes, and by wonders, and by warre, and by a mightie hand, and by a stretched out arme, and by great feare, according vnto all that the Lord your God did vnto you in Egypt before your eyes?
३४दुसऱ्या राष्ट्रात जाऊन त्यातून एक राष्ट्र आपलेसे करायचे असा दुसऱ्या कुठल्या देवाने प्रयत्न तरी केला आहे का? नाही ना? पण आपल्या परमेश्वर देवाने मिसर देशात तुमच्यासाठी महान गोष्टी केल्याचे तुम्ही स्वत: पाहिले, त्याने तुमच्यासाठी संकटे, चिन्हे, चमत्कार, युद्धे, पराक्रमी हात आणि उगारलेला भूज ह्याद्ववारे भयप्रद कार्ये केली.
35 Vnto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest knowe, that the Lord hee is God, and that there is none but he alone.
३५परमेश्वर हाच खरा देव आहे हे तुम्हास कळावे म्हणून त्याने तुम्हास हे दाखवले. त्याच्यासारखा दुसरा देव नाही.
36 Out of heauen hee made thee heare his voyce to instruct thee, and vpon earth he shewed thee his great fire, and thou heardest his voyce out of the middes of the fire.
३६तुम्हास शिकवण द्यावी म्हणून त्याने आकाशातून आपली वाणी ऐकवली. पृथ्वीवर आपला महान अग्नी त्याने दाखवला व त्यातून त्याचे शब्द तुम्ही ऐकले.
37 And because hee loued thy fathers, therefore hee chose their seede after them, and hath brought thee out of Egypt in his sight by his mightie power,
३७त्याचे तुमच्या पूर्वजांवर प्रेम होते. म्हणून त्याने तुमची निवड केली. त्यामुळेच त्याने तुम्हास आपल्या महान सामर्थ्याने मिसर देशातून बाहेर आणले. तो तुमच्या पाठीशी राहिला.
38 To thrust out nations greater and mightier then thou, before thee, to bring thee in, and to giue thee their land for inheritance: as appeareth this day.
३८तुम्ही जसे पुढे जाल तसे त्याने तुमच्यापेक्षा मोठ्या व समर्थ राष्ट्रांना हुसकून लावले आणि तेथे तुमचा शिरकाव करून दिला. त्यांचा प्रदेश त्याने तुम्हास राहण्यासाठी दिला. आजही तो हे करत आहे.
39 Vnderstande therefore this day, and consider in thine heart, that the Lord, he is God in heauen aboue, and vpon the earth beneath: there is none other.
३९तेव्हा, वर आकाशात आणि खाली पृथ्वीवर परमेश्वर हाच देव आहे, दुसरा कोणीही नाही. हे आज तुम्ही नीट समजून घ्या व लक्षात ठेवा.
40 Thou shalt keepe therefore his ordinances, and his commandements which I commaund thee this day, that it may goe well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayst prolong thy dayes vpon the earth, which the Lord thy God giueth thee for euer.
४०आज मी तुम्हास त्याचे नियम व आज्ञा सांगणार आहे, त्या पाळा. त्याने तुमचे व तुमच्या मुलाबाळांचे भले होईल. तुमच्या परमेश्वर देवाने दिलेल्या प्रदेशात तुमचे वास्तव्य दीर्घकाळ राहील. तो प्रदेश कायमचा तुमचाच होईल.
41 Then Moses separated three cities on this side of Iorden toward the sunne rising:
४१मग मोशेने यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला तीन नगरांची निवड केली.
42 That the slayer should flee thither, which had killed his neighbour at vnwares, and hated him not in time past, might flee, I say, vnto one of those cities, and liue:
४२अशासाठी की, पूर्वी काही वैर नसताना, अजाणतेपणी एखाद्याने कोणाची चुकून हत्या केली तर त्यास ह्यातल्या एखाद्या नगराचा आसरा घेता यावा. मृत्यूदंडाला सामोरे जावे लागू नये.
43 That is, Bezer in the wildernesse, in the plaine countrey of the Reubenites: and Ramoth in Gilead among the Gadites: and Golan in Bashan among them of Manasseh.
४३ती नगरे अशी: रऊबेन वंशासाठी रानातील माळावरचे बेसेर नगर, गाद वंशासाठी गिलाद प्रदेशातील रामोथ नगर आणि मनश्शेच्या वंशासाठी बाशान प्रदेशातील गोलान नगर.
44 So this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel.
४४इस्राएल लोक मिसर देशातून बाहेर पडल्यावर मोशेने त्यांना हे नियमशास्त्र, दिले.
45 These are the witnesses, and the ordinances, and the lawes which Moses declared to the children of Israel after they came out of Egypt,
४५इस्राएली लोक मिसरातून बाहेर आले तेव्हा मोशेने हे निर्बंध सांगितले. ते बेथपौरच्या समोरच्या खोऱ्यात यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला होते.
46 On this side Iorden, in the valley ouer against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon King of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come out of Egypt:
४६म्हणजेच हेशबोन नगरातील अमोऱ्यांचा राजा सीहोन याला पराजित केले त्याच्या देशात यार्देनेच्या पूर्वेस म्हणजे बेथ-पौराच्या समोरील खोऱ्यात (मोशे आणि इस्राएलाच्या लोकांनी मिसर देशातून बाहेर पडल्यावर सीहोनचा पराभव केला होता.)
47 And they possessed his land, and the lande of Og King of Bashan, two Kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Iorden towarde the sunne rising:
४७त्यांनी हा देश आणि बाशानाचा राजा ओग याचाही देश ताब्यात घेतला. अमोऱ्यांचे हे दोन्ही राजे यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेकडे राहत असत.
48 From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer Arnon, euen vnto mount Sion, which is Hermon,
४८आर्णोन खोऱ्याच्या सीमेवरील अरोएर नगरापासून सरळ सिर्योन (म्हणजेच हर्मोन) पर्वतापर्यंत हा प्रदेश पसरलेला आहे.
49 And all the plaine by Iorden Eastwarde, euen vnto the Sea, of ye plaine, vnder the springs of Pisgah.
४९यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेकडील संपूर्ण खोरे, दक्षिणेला अराबा (मृत) समुद्रापर्यंतचा विस्तार, आणि पूर्वेला पिसगा पर्वताच्या पायथ्यापर्यंत एवढा हा प्रदेश त्यांनी काबीज केला होता.
