Deuteronomy 22
1 Thou shalt not see thy brothers oxe nor his sheepe go astray, and withdraw thy selfe from them, but shalt bring the againe vnto thy brother.
Quand tu verras le bœuf ou la brebis ou la chèvre de ton frère égarés tu ne te cacheras point d'eux; [et] tu ne manqueras point de les ramener à ton frère.
2 And if thy brother bee not neere vnto thee, or if thou knowe him not, then thou shalt bring it into thine house, and it shall remaine with thee, vntill thy brother seeke after it: then shalt thou deliuer it to him againe.
Que si ton frère ne demeure point près de toi, ou que tu ne le connaisses point, tu les retireras même dans ta maison, et ils seront avec toi, jusqu'à ce que ton frère les cherche, et alors tu les lui rendras.
3 In like maner shalt thou do with his asse, and so shalt thou do with his rayment, and shalt so doe with all lost things of thy brother, which he hath lost: if thou hast found them, thou shalt not withdraw thy selfe from them.
Tu feras la même chose de son âne, et tu feras ainsi de son vêtement, et tu feras ainsi de toute chose que ton frère aura perdue, et que tu auras trouvée, ayant été égarée, tu ne t'en pourras pas cacher.
4 Thou shalt not see thy brothers asse nor his oxe fal downe by the way, and withdrawe thy selfe from them, but shalt lift them vp with him.
Si tu vois l'âne de ton frère, ou son bœuf tombés dans le chemin, tu ne te cacheras point d'eux, [et] tu ne manqueras point de les relever conjointement avec lui.
5 The woman shall not weare that which perteineth vnto the man, neither shall a man put on womans rayment: for all that doe so, are abomination vnto the Lord thy God.
La femme ne portera point l'habit d'un homme, ni l'homme ne se vêtira point d'un habit de femme; car quiconque fait de telles choses est en abomination à l'Eternel ton Dieu.
6 If thou finde a birdes nest in the way, in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be yong or egges, and the damme sitting vpon the yong, or vpon the egges, thou shalt not take ye damme with the yong,
Quand tu rencontreras dans un chemin, sur quelque arbre, ou sur la terre, un nid d'oiseaux, ayant des petits ou des œufs, et la mère couvant les petits ou les œufs, tu ne prendras point la mère avec les petits;
7 But shalt in any wise let the damme go, and take the yong to thee, that thou mayest prosper and prolong thy dayes.
Mais tu ne manqueras point de laisser aller la mère, et tu prendras les petits pour toi; afin que tu prospères, et que tu prolonges tes jours.
8 When thou buildest a newe house, thou shalt make a battlemet on thy roofe, that thou lay not blood vpon thine house, if any man fal thence.
Quand tu bâtiras une maison neuve, tu feras des défenses tout autour de ton toit, afin que tu ne rendes point ta maison coupable de sang, si quelqu'un tombait de là.
9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with diuers kinds of seedes, lest thou defile the increase of the seede which thou hast sowen, and the fruite of the vineyarde.
Tu ne sèmeras point dans ta vigne diverses sortes de grains; de peur que le tout, [savoir] les grains, que tu auras semés, et le rapport de ta vigne, ne soit souillé.
10 Thou shalt not plow with an oxe and an asse together.
Tu ne laboureras point avec un âne et un bœuf accouplés ensemble.
11 Thou shalt not weare a garment of diuers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
Tu ne te vêtiras point d'un drap tissu de diverses matières, [c'est-à-dire], de laine et de lin ensemble.
12 Thou shalt make thee fringes vpon the foure quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou couerest thy selfe.
Tu te feras des bandes aux quatre pans de ta robe, de laquelle tu te couvres.
13 If a man take a wife, and when he hath lyen with her, hate her,
Quand quelqu'un aura pris une femme, et qu'après être venu vers elle, il la haïsse,
14 And laye slaunderous thinges vnto her charge, and bring vp an euill name vpon her, and say, I tooke this wife, and when I came to her, I found her not a mayde,
Et qu'il lui impute quelque chose qui donne occasion de parler en répandant contr'elle quelque mauvais bruit, et disant: J'ai pris cette femme, et quand je me suis approché d'elle, je n'ai point trouvé en elle sa virginité;
15 Then shall the father of the mayde and her mother take and bring the signes of the maydes virginitie vnto the Elders of the citie to the gate.
Alors le père et la mère de la jeune fille prendront et produiront les marques de sa virginité devant les Anciens de la ville, à la porte.
16 And the maydes father shall say vnto the Elders, I gaue my daughter vnto this man to wife, and he hateth her:
Et le père de la jeune fille dira aux Anciens: J'ai donné ma fille à cet homme pour femme, et il l'a prise en haine;
17 And lo, he layeth slaunderous things vnto her charge, saying, I founde not thy daughter a mayde: loe, these are the tokens of my daughters virginitie: and they shall spreade the vesture before the Elders of the citie.
Et voici, il lui a imposé une chose qui donne occasion de parler, disant: Je n'ai point trouvé que ta fille fût vierge; cependant voici les marques de la virginité de ma fille, et ils étendront le drap devant les Anciens de la ville.
18 Then the Elders of the citie shall take that man and chastise him,
Alors les Anciens de cette ville-là prendront le mari, et le châtieront.
19 And shall condemne him in an hundreth shekels of siluer, and giue them vnto the father of the mayde, because he hath brought vp an euill name vpon a mayde of Israel: and she shalbe his wife, and he may not put her away all his life.
Et parce qu'il aura répandu un mauvais bruit contre une vierge d'Israël, ils le condamneront à cent [pièces] d'argent, lesquelles ils donneront au père de la jeune fille; et elle sera pour femme à cet homme-là, et il ne la pourra pas renvoyer, tant qu'il vivra.
20 But if this thing be true, that the mayde be not found a virgine,
Mais si ce qu'il a dit, que la jeune fille ne se soit point trouvée vierge, est véritable;
21 Then shall they bring forth the mayde to the doore of her fathers house, and the men of her citie shall stone her with stones to death: for shee hath wrought follie in Israel, by playing ye whore in her fathers house: so thou shalt put euill away from among you.
Alors ils feront sortir la jeune fille à la porte de la maison de son père, et les gens de sa ville l'assommeront de pierres et elle mourra; car elle a commis une infamie en Israël, en paillardant dans la maison de son père; et ainsi tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
22 If a man be found lying with a woman marryed to a man, then they shall dye euen both twaine: to wit, the man that lay with the wife, and the wife: so thou shalt put away euil from Israel.
Quand un homme aura été trouvé couché avec une femme mariée, ils mourront tous deux, l'homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme aussi; et tu ôteras le mal d'Israël.
23 If a maid be betrothed vnto an husband, and a man finde her in the towne and lye with her,
Quand une jeune fille vierge sera fiancée à un homme, et que quelqu'un l'ayant trouvée dans la ville, aura couché avec elle;
24 Then shall yee bring them both out vnto the gates of the same citie, and shall stone them with stones to death: the mayde because she cried not, being in the citie, and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbours wife: so thou shalt put away euill from among you.
Vous les ferez sortir tous deux à la porte de la ville, et vous les assommerez de pierres, et ils mourront; la jeune fille, parce qu'elle n'a point crié étant dans la ville; et l'homme, parce qu'il a violé la femme de son prochain; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
25 But if a man finde a betrothed mayde in the field, and force her, and lye with her, then the man that lay with her, shall dye alone:
Que si quelqu'un trouve aux champs une jeune fille fiancée, et que lui faisant violence, il couche avec elle, alors l'homme qui aura couché avec elle, mourra lui seul.
26 And vnto the mayd thou shalt do nothing, because there is in the mayde no cause of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour and woundeth him to death, so is this matter.
Mais tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille; la jeune fille n'a point commis en cela de péché digne de mort; car il en est de ce cas comme si quelqu'un s'élevait contre son prochain, et lui ôtait la vie.
27 For he found her in the fieldes: the betrothed mayde cryed, and there was no man to succour her.
Parce que l'ayant trouvée aux champs, la jeune fille fiancée a crié, et personne ne l'a délivrée.
28 If a man finde a mayde that is not betrothed, and take her, and lye with her, and they be founde,
Quand quelqu'un trouvera une jeune fille vierge non fiancée, et la prendra, et couchera avec elle, et qu'ils soient trouvés sur le fait;
29 Then the man that lay with her, shall giue vnto the maydes father fiftie shekels of siluer: and she shalbe his wife, because he hath humbled her: he can not put her away all his life.
L'homme qui aura couché avec elle, donnera au père de la jeune fille cinquante [pièces] d'argent, et elle lui sera pour femme, parce qu'il l'a humiliée; il ne la pourra point laisser, tant qu'il vivra.
30 No man shall take his fathers wife, nor shall vncouer his fathers skirt.
Nul ne prendra la femme de son père, ni ne découvrira le pan de la robe de son père.
