Deuteronomy 22
1 Thou shalt not see thy brothers oxe nor his sheepe go astray, and withdraw thy selfe from them, but shalt bring the againe vnto thy brother.
Si tu vois errant dans le chemin le bœuf de ton frère, ou sa brebis, tu ne les y laisseras pas; tu te hâteras de les ramener à ton frère et tu les lui rendras.
2 And if thy brother bee not neere vnto thee, or if thou knowe him not, then thou shalt bring it into thine house, and it shall remaine with thee, vntill thy brother seeke after it: then shalt thou deliuer it to him againe.
Si ton frère ne demeure point près de toi, si tu ne le connais pas, tu mèneras la bête en ta maison, ou elle restera jusqu'à ce que ton frère la réclame, alors tu la lui rendras.
3 In like maner shalt thou do with his asse, and so shalt thou do with his rayment, and shalt so doe with all lost things of thy brother, which he hath lost: if thou hast found them, thou shalt not withdraw thy selfe from them.
Tu feras de même pour son âne, pour son manteau, pour tout ce qu'aura perdu ton frère; quoi que ce soit qu'il ait perdu, si tu le trouves, tu ne pourras pas le négliger.
4 Thou shalt not see thy brothers asse nor his oxe fal downe by the way, and withdrawe thy selfe from them, but shalt lift them vp with him.
Aussitôt que tu auras vu l'âne de ton frère ou son bœuf tombé dans le chemin, tu ne passeras pas outre sans l'aider à le relever.
5 The woman shall not weare that which perteineth vnto the man, neither shall a man put on womans rayment: for all that doe so, are abomination vnto the Lord thy God.
La femme ne portera pas de vêtements d'homme, l'homme ne portera pas de robe de femme; quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination au Seigneur ton Dieu.
6 If thou finde a birdes nest in the way, in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be yong or egges, and the damme sitting vpon the yong, or vpon the egges, thou shalt not take ye damme with the yong,
Si tu trouves devant toi dans le chemin, ou sur un arbre, ou à terre, un nid d'oiseau, avec les petits ou les œufs, et la mère qui les couve, tu ne prendras pas la mère en même temps que sa couvée;
7 But shalt in any wise let the damme go, and take the yong to thee, that thou mayest prosper and prolong thy dayes.
Tu laisseras aller la mère et n'emporteras que la couvée, afin que tu sois heureux et que tu vives de longs jours.
8 When thou buildest a newe house, thou shalt make a battlemet on thy roofe, that thou lay not blood vpon thine house, if any man fal thence.
Si tu achèves de bâtir une maison, tu y mettras une balustrade, et tu n'auras point occasionné de meurtre en ta maison, si quelqu'un vient à tomber de la terrasse.
9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with diuers kinds of seedes, lest thou defile the increase of the seede which thou hast sowen, and the fruite of the vineyarde.
Tu ne sèmeras pas dans ta vigne de graines de diverses espèces, de peur que le grain que tu aurais semé ne soit consacré en même temps que le fruit de ta vigne.
10 Thou shalt not plow with an oxe and an asse together.
Tu n'attelleras pas ensemble pour labourer un bœuf et un âne.
11 Thou shalt not weare a garment of diuers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
Tu ne te revêtiras pas d'étoffes trompeuses de laine et de lin tissus ensemble.
12 Thou shalt make thee fringes vpon the foure quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou couerest thy selfe.
Tu te feras des torsades sur les quatre franges des manteaux que tu porteras.
13 If a man take a wife, and when he hath lyen with her, hate her,
Si un homme a pris une femme, si, ayant cohabité avec elle, il la prend en haine.
14 And laye slaunderous thinges vnto her charge, and bring vp an euill name vpon her, and say, I tooke this wife, and when I came to her, I found her not a mayde,
S'il la flétrit par ses prétextes, s'il lui donne un mauvais renom, disant: J'ai pris cette femme, j'ai eu commerce avec elle, je n'ai point trouvé chez elle les signes de la virginité,
15 Then shall the father of the mayde and her mother take and bring the signes of the maydes virginitie vnto the Elders of the citie to the gate.
Le père et la mère de la femme présenteront aux anciens, devant la porte de la ville, les preuves de la virginité de leur enfant;
16 And the maydes father shall say vnto the Elders, I gaue my daughter vnto this man to wife, and he hateth her:
Le père et la mère de la femme diront aux anciens: J'ai donné ma fille que voici pour femme à cet homme et il l'a prise en haine,
17 And lo, he layeth slaunderous things vnto her charge, saying, I founde not thy daughter a mayde: loe, these are the tokens of my daughters virginitie: and they shall spreade the vesture before the Elders of the citie.
Et il la flétrit par ses prétextes, disant: Je n'ai point trouvé à ta fille les signes de la virginité. Or, voici les preuves de la virginité de ma fille; à ces mots ils déploieront le vêtement devant les anciens de la ville.
18 Then the Elders of the citie shall take that man and chastise him,
Alors, les anciens prendront le mari et lui feront une réprimande.
19 And shall condemne him in an hundreth shekels of siluer, and giue them vnto the father of the mayde, because he hath brought vp an euill name vpon a mayde of Israel: and she shalbe his wife, and he may not put her away all his life.
Puis, ils le condamneront à une amende de cent sicles, qu'ils donneront au père de la jeune femme, parce que l'époux aura terni le renom d'une vierge israélite; celle-ci restera sa femme, et il ne pourra jamais la répudier.
20 But if this thing be true, that the mayde be not found a virgine,
Mais si les paroles de l'époux sont véritables, si l'on n'a point trouvé chez la jeune femme les signes de la virginité,
21 Then shall they bring forth the mayde to the doore of her fathers house, and the men of her citie shall stone her with stones to death: for shee hath wrought follie in Israel, by playing ye whore in her fathers house: so thou shalt put euill away from among you.
On entraînera la jeune femme devant la maison de son père; elle sera lapidée, elle mourra, parce qu'elle se sera livrée à l'impudicité parmi les fils d'Israël, et se sera prostituée dans la maison de son père; ainsi vous aurez déraciné du milieu de vous le mal.
22 If a man be found lying with a woman marryed to a man, then they shall dye euen both twaine: to wit, the man that lay with the wife, and the wife: so thou shalt put away euil from Israel.
Si un homme est trouvé couché avec la femme d'autrui, faites-les mourir tous les deux, la femme et l'homme surpris avec elle, et tous aurez déraciné parmi vous le mal.
23 If a maid be betrothed vnto an husband, and a man finde her in the towne and lye with her,
Si une jeune vierge est fiancée à un homme, et si un autre homme l'ayant rencontrée dans la ville a eu commerce avec elle,
24 Then shall yee bring them both out vnto the gates of the same citie, and shall stone them with stones to death: the mayde because she cried not, being in the citie, and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbours wife: so thou shalt put away euill from among you.
Conduisez-les tous les deux devant la porte de la ville, lapidez-les, qu'ils meurent: la jeune fille, parce que dans la ville, elle n'aura point crié au secours; l'homme, parce qu'il aura souillé la femme de son prochain; ainsi vous aurez déraciné parmi vous le mal.
25 But if a man finde a betrothed mayde in the field, and force her, and lye with her, then the man that lay with her, shall dye alone:
Mais si l'homme a surpris la fille aux champs, et si, usant de violence, il a eu commerce avec elle, ne faites périr que l'homme qui aura abusé d'elle.
26 And vnto the mayd thou shalt do nothing, because there is in the mayde no cause of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour and woundeth him to death, so is this matter.
Quant à la jeune fille, elle ne sera point coupable du crime capital, mais l'homme sera punissable autant que s'il s'était levé contre son prochain et l'eût tué.
27 For he found her in the fieldes: the betrothed mayde cryed, and there was no man to succour her.
Parce qu'il aura surpris la jeune fiancée dans les champs, et que, quand même elle eut crié, il n'y aurait eu là personne pour la secourir.
28 If a man finde a mayde that is not betrothed, and take her, and lye with her, and they be founde,
Si un homme rencontre une jeune fille vierge et non fiancée, si, usant de violence, il a commerce avec elle et s'il est surpris,
29 Then the man that lay with her, shall giue vnto the maydes father fiftie shekels of siluer: and she shalbe his wife, because he hath humbled her: he can not put her away all his life.
Il donnera au père de la jeune fille cinquante doubles drachmes d'argent, et elle sera sa femme, car il aura attenté à son honneur: il ne pourra jamais la répudier.
30 No man shall take his fathers wife, nor shall vncouer his fathers skirt.
Nul ne prendra la femme de son père, et ne soulèvera la couverture de son père.
