Deuteronomy 2

1 Then we turned, and tooke our iourney into the wildernes, by the way of the red Sea, as the Lord spake vnto me: and we compassed mount Seir a long time.

Potem obróciwszy się, poszliśmy na puszczą, drogą ku morzu czerwonemu, jako mówił Pan do mnie, i krążyliśmy około około góry Seir przez wiele dni.

2 And the Lord spake vnto me, saying,

Tedy rzekł Pan do mnie, mówiąc:

3 Ye haue compassed this mountaine long ynough: turne you Northward.

Dosycieście już krążyli około tej góry, obróćcież się ku północy;

4 And warne thou the people, saying, Ye shall go through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraide of you: take ye good heede therefore.

A ludowi rozkaż mówiąc: Wy wnet pójdziecie przez granice braci waszej, synów Ezawowych, którzy mieszkają w Seir, i będą się was bali; ale się i wy pilnie strzeżcie.

5 Ye shall not prouoke them: for I wil not giue you of their land so much as a foot breadth, because I haue giuen mount Seir vnto Esau for a possession.

Nie drażnijcież ich; albowiem nie dam wam ziemi ich, ani na stopę nogi, gdyżem w osiadłość dał Ezawowi górę Seir.

6 Ye shall buy meate of them for money to eate, and ye shall also procure water of them for money to drinke.

Żywność będziecie kupowali u nich za pieniądze, i jeść będziecie; także i wodę od nich kupować będziecie za pieniądze, i pić będziecie.

7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the workes of thine hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wildernes, and the Lord thy God hath bene with thee this fourtie yeere, and thou hast lacked nothing.

Albowiem ci Pan, Bóg twój, błogosławił we wszelkiej sprawie rąk twoich, i wiedział drogę twoję na tej puszczy wielkiej; już przez czterdzieści lat Pan, Bóg twój, był z tobą, nie schodziłoć na niczem.

8 And when we were departed from our brethren the children of Esau which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plaine, from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and went by the way of the wildernes of Moab.

Poszliśmy tedy od braci naszej, synów Ezawowych, mieszkających w Seir, drogą równą od Elat, i od Asyjongaber, a nawróciwszy się udaliśmy się drogą ku puszczy Moabskiej.

9 Then the Lord sayd vnto me, Thou shalt not vexe Moab, neither prouoke them to battel: for I wil not giue thee of their land for a possession, because I haue giuen Ar vnto the children of Lot for a possession.

I rzekł Pan do mnie: Nie nacieraj na Moabczyki, ani podnoś wojny przeciwko nim; boć nie dam ziemi ich w osiadłość, gdyżem synom Lotowym dał Ar w dziedzictwo.

10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great and many, and tall, as the Anakims.

(Emitowie pierwej mieszkali w niej, lud potężny i wielki, i wysokiego wzrostu, jako Enakimowie;

11 They also were taken for gyants as the Anakims: whom the Moabites call Emims.

Które też za olbrzymy miano, jako Enakimy, a Moabczykowie zwali je Emim.

12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir before time, whome the children of Esau chased out and destroyed them before them, and dwelt in their steade: as Israel shall doe vnto the land of his possession, which the Lord hath giuen them.

Także w Seir mieszkali Horejczycy przedtem, które synowie Ezawowi wygnali, i wygładzili je przed sobą, a mieszkali na miejscu ich, jako uczynił Izrael w ziemi osiadłości swojej, którą im dał Pan.)

13 Now rise vp, sayd I, and get you ouer the riuer Zered: and we went ouer the riuer Zered.

Wstańcież tedy, a przeprawcie się przez potok Zared; i przeprawiliśmy się przez potok Zared.

14 The space also wherein we came from Kadesh-barnea, vntill we were come ouer the riuer Zered, was eight and thirtie yeeres, vntill all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from among the hoste, as the Lord sware vnto them.

A czasu, któregośmy chodzili od Kades Barne, ażeśmy się przeprawili przez potok Zared, było trzydzieści i osiem lat, aż wyginął wszystek on naród mężów walecznych z obozu, jako im był przysiągł Pan.

15 For in deede the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the hoste, till they were consumed.

Albowiem ręka Pańska była przeciwko nim na wytracenie ich z obozu, aż ich wygubiła.

16 So when all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people:

I stało się, gdy wyginęli wszyscy mężowie waleczni, i pomarli z pośrodku ludu,

17 Then the Lord spake vnto me, saying,

Że rzekł Pan do mnie, mówiąc:

18 Thou shalt goe through Ar the coast of Moab this day:

Ty dziś przejdziesz granicę Moabską Ar,

19 And thou shalt come neere ouer against the children of Ammon: but shalt not lay siege vnto them, nor moue warre against them: for I will not giue thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession: for I haue giuen it vnto the children of Lot for a possession.

I przyjdziesz blisko ku synom Ammonowym; nie nacierajże na nie, ani podnoś wojny przeciwko nim; boć nie dam ziemi synów Ammonowych w osiadłość, ponieważ synom Lotowym dałem ją w dziedzictwo.

20 That also was taken for a land of gyants: for gyants dwelt therein afore time, whome the Ammonites called Zamzummims:

(Tę też ziemię za ziemię olbrzymów miano; albowiem olbrzymowie mieszkali w niej przedtem, które Ammonitowie nazywali Zomzomim;

21 A people that was great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims: but the Lord destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them in their inheritance, and dwelt in their stead:

Lud potężny, i wielki, i wysokiego wzrostu, jako Enakimowie; ale wygubił je Pan przed nimi, a Ammonitowie opanowali je i mieszkali na miejscu ich;

22 As he did to the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims before them, and they possessed them, and dwelt in their stead vnto this day.

Jako uczynił synom Ezawowym mieszkającym w Seir, dla których wytracił Horejczyki przed obliczem ich; i wygnali je, i mieszkai na miejscach ich aż po dziś dzień.

23 And the Auims which dwelt in Hazarim euen vnto Azzah, the Caphtorims which came out of Caphtor destroyed them, and dwelt in their steade.

Hewejczyki także, którzy mieszkali w Aserym aż do Gazy, Kaftorytowie, którzy wyszli z Kaftor, wytracili je, i mieszkali na miejscu ich.)

24 Rise vp therefore, sayd the Lord: take your iourney, and passe ouer the riuer Arnon: beholde, I haue giuen into thy hand Sihon, the Amorite, King of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possesse it and prouoke him to battell.

Wstawszy tedy idźcie, a przeprawcie się przez potok Arnon; oto, Ja dawam w ręce twoje Sehona, króla Hesebon Amorejczyka, i ziemię jego, pocznijże ją posiadać, a podnieś przeciwko niemu wojnę.

25 This day wil I begin to send thy feare and thy dread, vpon all people vnder the whole heauen, which shall heare thy fame, and shall tremble and quake before thee.

Dzisiaj pocznę puszczać strach i bojaźń twoję na ludzie, którzy są pod wszystkiem niebem, że gdy usłyszą wieść o tobie, drżeć i lękać się będą przed tobą.

26 Then I sent messengers out of the wildernes of Kedemoth vnto Sihon King of Heshbon, with wordes of peace, saying,

Tedym posłał posły z puszczy Kademot do Sehona, króla Hesebońskiego, z poselstwem spokojnem, mówiąc:

27 Let me passe through thy land: I will go by the hie way: I will neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left.

Niech przejdę przez ziemię twoję; drogą pospolitą pójdę; nie uchylę się ani na prawo ani na lewo.

28 Thou shalt sell me meate for money, for to eate, and shalt giue me water for money for to drinke: onely I will go through on my foote,

Żywności za pieniądze sprzedasz mi, abym jadł; wody także za pieniądze dasz mi, abym pił: tylko przejdę nogami memi;

29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did vnto me) vntill I be come ouer Iorden, into the land which the Lord our God giueth vs.

Jako mi uczynili synowie Ezawowi, którzy mieszkają w Seir, i Moabczycy, którzy mieszkają w Ar, ażbyśmy się przeprawili za Jordan, do ziemi, którą Pan, Bóg nasz, dawa nam.

30 But Sihon the King of Heshbon would not let vs passe by him: for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, because hee would deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.

Ale nie chciał Sehon, król Heseboński, pozwolić nam przejścia przez ziemię swoję: bo był zatwardził Pan, Bóg twój, ducha jego, i stwierdził serce jego, aby go podał w ręce twoje, jako to dziś widzisz.

31 And the Lord sayd vnto me, Beholde, I haue begun to giue Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possesse and inherite his land.

Tedy rzekł Pan do mnie: Otom ci już począł podawać w moc Sehona, i ziemię jego: pocznijże ją posiadać, abyś odziedziczył ziemię jego.

32 Then came out Sihon to meete vs, him selfe with all his people to fight at Iahaz.

Ruszył się tedy Sehon przeciwko nam, sam i wszystek lud jego, chcąc z nami zwieść bitwę w Jaza;

33 But the Lord our God deliuered him into our power, and we smote him, and his sonnes, and all his people.

Ale go nam podał Pan, Bóg nasz, w moc, i poraziliśmy go, i syny jego i wszystek lud jego.

34 And we tooke all his cities the same time, and destroyed euery citie, men, and women, and children: we let nothing remaine.

I wzięliśmy wszystkie miasta jego na on czas, i wniwecześmy obrócili wszystkie miasta, mężczyzny i niewiasty, i dzieci, nie zostawiwszy z nich nikogo.

35 Onely the cattell we tooke to our selues, and the spoyle of the cities which we tooke,

Tylkośmy bydło pobrali sobie, i korzyści z miast, którycheśmy dobyli.

36 From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer of Arnon, and from the citie that is vpon the riuer, euen vnto Gilead: there was not one citie that escaped vs: for the Lord our God deliuered vp all before vs.

Od Aroer, które leży nad brzegiem potoku Arnon, i od miasta, które jest w dolinie aż do Galaad, nie było miasta, które by się nam nie podało; wszystkie podał nam Pan, Bóg nasz.

37 Onely vnto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor vnto any place of the riuer Iabbok, nor vnto the cities in the mountaines, nor vnto whatsoeuer the Lord our God forbade vs.

Tylkoś do ziemi synów Ammonowych nie dochodził ani do żadnego miejsca przyległego potokowi Jabok, ani do miast na górach, ani do żadnych miejsc, których zakazał Pan, Bóg nasz.
