Deuteronomy 19

1 When the Lord thy God shall roote out the nations, whose lande the Lord thy God giueth thee, and thou shalt possesse them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses,

நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டிலுள்ள மக்களை அழித்தபின் நீங்களும் அவர்களைத் துரத்தி, அவர்களுடைய பட்டணங்களிலும், வீடுகளிலும் குடியேறுவீர்கள்,

2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the middes of thy lande which the Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.

அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்கு கொடுக்கும் நாட்டில் மூன்று பட்டணங்களை உங்களுக்காக ஒதுக்கிவையுங்கள்.

3 Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and deuide the coastes of the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, into three parts, that euery manslayer may flee thither.

உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்கு உரிமைச்சொத்தாகக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டை, ஒரு பட்டணம் ஒரு பகுதியில் இருக்கத்தக்கதாக மூன்று பகுதிகளாகப் பிரித்து, அந்தப் பட்டணங்களுக்கு வீதிகளை அமையுங்கள். அங்கே ஒரு மனிதனைக் கொல்லும் எவனும் தப்பியோடலாம்.

4 This also is ye cause wherfore the manslayer shall flee thither, and liue: who so killeth his neighbor ignorantly, and hated him not in time passed:

முற்பகை இன்றித் தவறுதலாக தன் அயலானைத் தற்செயலாகக் கொல்பவன், தன் உயிரைக்காக்கும்படி அங்கே தப்பியோடுவதைக் குறித்து கவனிக்கப்படவேண்டிய விதிமுறை இதுவே.

5 As hee that goeth vnto the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand striketh with the axe to cut downe the tree, if the head slip from the helue, and hit his neighbour that he dieth, the same shall flee vnto one of the cities, and liue,

உதாரணமாக, ஒருவன் தன் அயலானோடு விறகு வெட்டும்படி காட்டுக்குப்போய், அவன் கோடரியை ஓங்கும்போது கோடரி பிடியை விட்டுக் கழன்று அந்த அயலானின்மேல் விழுவதினால், அவன் கொல்லப்படலாம். அப்பொழுது அம்மனிதன் இந்தப் பட்டணம் ஒன்றுக்குத் தப்பிப்பிழைக்க ஓடித் தன் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றிக்கொள்ளலாம்.

6 Least the auenger of the blood follow after the manslayer, while his heart is chafed, and ouertake him, because the way is long, and slaie him, although he be not worthy of death, because he hated him not in time passed.

எனினும் அடைக்கலப் பட்டணத்தின் தூரம் அதிகமாய் இருந்தால், இரத்தபழி வாங்குபவன் கோபத்தில் அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து துரத்திப் பிடித்து அவனைக் கொன்றுவிடுவான். ஆனாலும் அவன் முற்பகையில்லாமல் தவறுதலாகக் கொலைசெய்தபடியால் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவானவன் அல்ல.

7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt appoint out three cities for thee.

இதனால்தான் உங்களுக்காக மூன்று பட்டணங்களை ஒதுக்கிவைக்கும்படி நான் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்.

8 And when the Lord thy God enlargeth thy coastes (as he hath sworne vnto thy fathers) and giueth thee all the lande which he promised to giue vnto thy fathers,

உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டு, வாக்குக் கொடுத்தபடி உங்கள் பிரதேச எல்லைகளை விரிவுபடுத்தி, அவர்களுக்கு வாக்குப்பண்ணிய நாடு முழுவதையும் உங்களுக்குத் தருவார்.

9 (If thou keepe all these commandements to doe them, which I commaund thee this day: to wit, that thou loue the Lord thy God, and walke in his waies for euer) then shalt thou adde three cities moe for thee besides those three,

உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவிடம் அன்புகூர்ந்து, அவருடைய வழிகளிலே நடக்கும்படி, நான் இன்று உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடும் இந்த சட்டங்களை நீங்கள் கவனமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினால், அவர் வாக்குப்பண்ணிய நாடு முழுவதையும் உங்களுக்குத் தருவார். அப்போது எல்லைகளை விரிவுபடுத்தும்போது, நீங்கள் இன்னும் மூன்று அடைக்கலப் பட்டணங்களை ஒதுக்கிவையுங்கள்.

10 That innocent bloude be not shed within thy land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, lest bloud be vpon thee.

உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்கு உரிமைச்சொத்தாகக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டில் குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தம் சிந்தப்படாதபடியும், இரத்தப்பழி உங்கள்மேல் வராமல் இருக்கும்படியும் இதைச் செய்யுங்கள்.

11 But if a man hate his neighbour, and lay waite for him, and rise against him, and smite any man that he die, and flee vnto any of these cities,

எனினும் ஒருவன் தன் அயலானைப் பகைத்து, அவனுக்காகப் பதுங்கிக் காத்திருந்து தாக்கிக் கொன்றபின் இப்பட்டணங்கள் ஒன்றிற்குத் தப்பியோடக்கூடும்.

12 Then the Elders of his citie shall send and set him thence, and deliuer him into the hands of the auenger of the blood, that he may die.

அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய பட்டணத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சபைத்தலைவர்கள் அவனுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி, அவனை அடைக்கலப்பட்டணத்திலிருந்து திரும்பக்கொண்டுவந்து, அவன் சாகும்படி அவனை இரத்தப்பழிவாங்கும் உரிமை உடையவனிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

13 Thine eye shall not spare him, but thou shalt put away the crie of innocent blood from Israel, that it may goe well with thee.

அவனுக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டவேண்டாம். குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தம் சிந்தும் குற்றத்தை இஸ்ரயேலிலிருந்து அகற்றவேண்டும். அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் நலமாயிருப்பீர்கள்.

14 Thou shalt not remooue thy neighbours marke, which they of olde time haue set in thine inheritance, that thou shalt inherite in the lande, which ye Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.

உங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா நீங்கள் உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் நாட்டிலே, உங்களுடைய உரிமைச்சொத்தில் உங்கள் முன்னோர்களால் நாட்டப்பட்ட உங்கள் அயலவனின் எல்லைக்கல்லைத் தள்ளிவைக்கவேண்டாம்.

15 One witnes shall not rise against a man for any trespasse, or for any sinne, or for any fault that hee offendeth in, but at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses shall the matter be stablished.

ஒருவன் ஏதாவது குற்றத்தையோ, மீறுதலையோ செய்ததாக அவன் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டிருந்தால் அவனைக் குற்றவாளி என தீர்ப்பதற்கு ஒரு சாட்சி போதாது. ஒரு காரியம் இரண்டு அல்லது மூன்று சாட்சிகளின் மூலம் உறுதி செய்யப்படவேண்டும்.

16 If a false witnesse rise vp against a man to accuse him of trespasse,

ஒருவன்மேல் குற்றம் சுமத்தும்படி, குற்றம் சாட்டுவதற்குத் தீயநோக்கமுள்ள ஒரு சாட்சி துணிந்தால்,

17 Then both the men which striue together, shall stand before ye Lord, euen before the Priests and the Iudges, which shall be in those daies,

வழக்காடுகிற இருவரும் அந்நாட்களில் அதிகாரம் செலுத்தும் ஆசாரியனின் முன்னும், நீதிபதியின் முன்னும் யெகோவாவின் முன்னிலையில் நிற்கவேண்டும்.

18 And the Iudges shall make diligent inquisition: and if the witnesse be found false, and hath giuen false witnes against his brother,

நீதிபதிகள் அவர்களைத் தீர விசாரிக்கவேண்டும். அப்போது சாட்சி சொல்பவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்கு எதிராக பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லி, அவன் பொய்யன் என நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டால்,

19 Then shall yee doe vnto him as hee had thought to doe vnto his brother: so thou shalt take euil away forth of the middes of thee.

அவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்கு என்ன செய்யவேண்டுமென்று நினைத்தானோ, அதை நீங்கள் அவனுக்கே செய்யவேண்டும். இப்படியாக உங்கள் மத்தியிலிருந்து தீமையை அகற்றவேண்டும்.

20 And the rest shall heare this, and feare, and shall henceforth commit no more any such wickednes among you.

மற்றவர்கள் இவற்றைக் கேட்டுப் பயப்படுவார்கள். அப்படிப்பட்ட தீமை உங்கள் மத்தியில் இனி ஒருபோதும் செய்யப்படவும்மாட்டாது.

21 Therefore thine eye shall have no compassion, but life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foote for foote.

இரக்கம் காட்டவேண்டாம்: உயிருக்கு உயிர், கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல், கைக்குக் கை, காலுக்குக் கால், அவ்வாறே செய்யுங்கள்.
