Deuteronomy 19
1 When the Lord thy God shall roote out the nations, whose lande the Lord thy God giueth thee, and thou shalt possesse them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses,
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ದೇವರು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿದ ತರುವಾಯ, ನೀವು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವಿರಿ.
2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the middes of thy lande which the Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಿಸಬೇಕು.
3 Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and deuide the coastes of the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, into three parts, that euery manslayer may flee thither.
ಕೈತಪ್ಪಿ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡುವವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸೊತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಭಾಗಮಾಡಿ, ಅವುಗಳ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
4 This also is ye cause wherfore the manslayer shall flee thither, and liue: who so killeth his neighbor ignorantly, and hated him not in time passed:
ಬದುಕಿ ಉಳಿಯಲು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗತಕ್ಕ ಕೊಲೆಪಾತಕನ ವಿವರವೇನೆಂದರೆ, ತಿಳಿಯದೆ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಲ್ಪಿತ ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ, ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದವನೇ.
5 As hee that goeth vnto the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand striketh with the axe to cut downe the tree, if the head slip from the helue, and hit his neighbour that he dieth, the same shall flee vnto one of the cities, and liue,
ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ: ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯಲು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡವಿಗೆ ಹೋದನೆಂದು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮರವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಕೊಡಲಿ ಕಾವಿನಿಂದ ಜಾರಿ, ಆ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ತಗಲಿ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತರೆ, ಹೊಡೆದವನು ಆ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
6 Least the auenger of the blood follow after the manslayer, while his heart is chafed, and ouertake him, because the way is long, and slaie him, although he be not worthy of death, because he hated him not in time passed.
ಸತ್ತವನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದಲೂ ದ್ವೇಷವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರನಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿದವನಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸುವ ಹಂಗುಳ್ಳ ಸಮೀಪ ಬಂಧು ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ಉರಿಯುತ್ತಾ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಬಹುದು. ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಬಹುದು.
7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt appoint out three cities for thee.
ಈ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ನೀವು ಆ ಮೂರು ಆಶ್ರಯಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
8 And when the Lord thy God enlargeth thy coastes (as he hath sworne vnto thy fathers) and giueth thee all the lande which he promised to giue vnto thy fathers,
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತಾರಮಾಡಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಮಗೆ ಕೊಡುವರು.
9 (If thou keepe all these commandements to doe them, which I commaund thee this day: to wit, that thou loue the Lord thy God, and walke in his waies for euer) then shalt thou adde three cities moe for thee besides those three,
ನಾನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವ ಈ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೀವು ಕಾಪಾಡಿ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಡೆದರೆ ನೀವು ಈ ಮೂರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮೂರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಬೇಕು.
10 That innocent bloude be not shed within thy land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee to inherite, lest bloud be vpon thee.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸೊತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಗೆ ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು, ಅಂಥವನಿಗೆ ಮರಣಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಾದರೆ ಆ ರಕ್ತಾಪರಾಧ ನಿಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಯೇ ಇರುವುದು.
11 But if a man hate his neighbour, and lay waite for him, and rise against him, and smite any man that he die, and flee vnto any of these cities,
ಆದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸಿ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಾಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರೆ,
12 Then the Elders of his citie shall send and set him thence, and deliuer him into the hands of the auenger of the blood, that he may die.
ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ತರಿಸಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಸೇಡು ತೀರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನ ಕೈಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು.
13 Thine eye shall not spare him, but thou shalt put away the crie of innocent blood from Israel, that it may goe well with thee.
ನೀವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಬಾರದು. ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಬೇಕು.
14 Thou shalt not remooue thy neighbours marke, which they of olde time haue set in thine inheritance, that thou shalt inherite in the lande, which ye Lord thy God giueth thee to possesse it.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದೊಳಗೆ ನೀವು ಹೊಂದುವ ಸೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಇಟ್ಟಂಥ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ಸರಿಸಬಾರದು.
15 One witnes shall not rise against a man for any trespasse, or for any sinne, or for any fault that hee offendeth in, but at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses shall the matter be stablished.
ಯಾವ ಅಕ್ರಮದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ, ಅಥವಾ ಪಾಪದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮೂವರು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ವಿಷಯವು ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗುವುದು.
16 If a false witnesse rise vp against a man to accuse him of trespasse,
ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯವನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎದ್ದರೆ,
17 Then both the men which striue together, shall stand before ye Lord, euen before the Priests and the Iudges, which shall be in those daies,
ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡುವ ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯಾಜಕರ ಹಾಗು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ನಿಂತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
18 And the Iudges shall make diligent inquisition: and if the witnesse be found false, and hath giuen false witnes against his brother,
ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಕೂಲಂಕಷವಾಗಿ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯು ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅಂದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೆ,
19 Then shall yee doe vnto him as hee had thought to doe vnto his brother: so thou shalt take euil away forth of the middes of thee.
ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಚಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು. ಹೀಗೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಬೇಕು.
20 And the rest shall heare this, and feare, and shall henceforth commit no more any such wickednes among you.
ಆಗ ಉಳಿದವರು ಕೇಳಿ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು, ಆ ದುಷ್ಟಕೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡದಿರುವರು.
21 Therefore thine eye shall have no compassion, but life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foote for foote.
ನೀವು ಅಂಥವರಿಗೆ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರಿಸಬಾರದು, ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಣ, ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು, ಹಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹಲ್ಲು, ಕೈಗೆ ಕೈ, ಕಾಲಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಲನ್ನು ಅವನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡಬೇಕು.
