Deuteronomy 15
1 At the terme of seuen yeeres thou shalt make a freedome.
Sjuande kvart år skal vera eit ettergjevingsår;
2 And this is the maner of the freedome: euery creditour shall quite ye lone of his hand which he hath lent to his neighbour: he shall not aske it againe of his neighbour, nor of his brother: for the yeere of the Lords freedome is proclaimed.
med dette hev det seg so: Den som hev eit lån til gode hjå grannen sin, skal gjeva det etter; han skal ikkje krevja ein granne eller landsmann når dei hev lyst ettergjeving i Herrens namn.
3 Of a stranger thou mayest require it: but that which thou hast with thy brother, thine hand shall remit:
Dei framande kann du krevja, men det du hev hjå landsmannen din, skal du gjeva etter.
4 Saue when there shall be no poore with thee: for the Lord shall blesse thee in the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee, for an inheritance to possesse it:
Med retten skulde det no ikkje finnast fatige hjå deg; for Herren, din Gud, vil velsigna deg i det landet han gjev deg til odel og eiga,
5 So that thou hearken vnto the voyce of the Lord thy God to obserue and doe all these commandements, which I commande thee this day.
so sant du berre lyder honom og held desse bodi, som eg ber fram for deg no.
6 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee, as he hath promised thee: and thou shalt lend vnto many nations, but thou thy selfe shalt not borow, and thou shalt reigne ouer many nations, and they shall not reigne ouer thee.
Ja Herren, din Gud, vil velsigna deg, som han hev lova, og du skal låna til mange folk, men sjølv skal du ikkje trenga noko lån, og du skal råda yver mange folk, men dei skal ikkje råda yver deg.
7 If one of thy brethren with thee be poore within any of thy gates in thy land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poore brother:
Finst det nokon fatig millom landsmennerne dine, i dei byarne som Herren, din Gud, vil gjeva deg, so ver ikkje hardhjarta, og lat ikkje att handi for den fatige bror din,
8 But thou shalt open thine hand vnto him, and shalt lend him sufficient for his neede which he hath.
men opna handi di for honom, og lån honom det han vantar og treng!
9 Beware that there be not a wicked thought in thine heart, to say, The seuenth yeere, the yeere of freedome is at hand: therefore it grieueth thee to looke on thy poore brother, and thou giuest him nought, and he crie vnto the Lord against thee, so that sinne be in thee:
Agta deg att det ikkje kjem upp noko vondt i hjarta ditt, når du tenkjer på at det lid nær innåt det sjuande året, ettergjevingsåret, so du ser med ublide augo på den fatige bror din, og ikkje gjev honom noko; for då kjem han til å klaga deg for Herren, og du fær synd på deg.
10 Thou shalt giue him, and let it not grieue thine heart to giue vnto him: for because of this the Lord thy God shall blesse thee in al thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand to.
Gjev honom med godhug og tregelaust; det er for den skuld Herren, din Gud, velsignar deg i alt du gjer og tek deg fyre.
11 Because there shall be euer some poore in the land, therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand vnto thy brother, to thy needie, and to thy poore in thy land.
Fatige kjem det stødt til å finnast i landet; difor segjer eg deg: Opne handi di for bror din, for dei arme og fatige i landet ditt!
12 If thy brother an Ebrewe sell himselfe to thee, or an Ebrewesse, and serue thee sixe yeere, euen in the seuenth yeere thou shalt let him goe free from thee:
Når ein landsmann - ein hebræar, kar eller kvinna - hev selt til deg, so skal han tena hjå deg seks år; i det sjuande året skal du gjeva honom fri, so han kann fara kvar han vil.
13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him goe away emptie,
Og når du gjev honom fri, skal du ikkje senda honom frå deg tomhendt.
14 But shalt giue him a liberall reward of thy sheepe, and of thy corne, and of thy wine: thou shalt giue him of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.
Du skal reida honom ut vel, både med småfe og med korn og vin; i same mun som Herren, din Gud, hev velsigna deg, skal du gjeva honom.
15 And remember that thou wast a seruant in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God deliuered thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
Kom i hug at du sjølv var træl i Egyptarland, og at Herren, din Gud, fria deg ut; difor gjev eg deg i dag dette bodet.
16 And if he say vnto thee, I will not go away from thee, because he loueth thee and thine house, and because he is well with thee,
Men segjer tenaren at han ikkje vil skiljast ifrå deg, av di han hev det godt hjå deg og held av deg og folket ditt,
17 Then shalt thou take a naule, and perce his eare through against the doore, and he shall be thy seruant for euer: and vnto thy maid seruant thou shall doe likewise.
so skal du taka ein syl og stinga gjenom øyra hans og inn i hurdi, og sidan skal han tena deg all si tid. Sameleis skal du gjera med tenestgjenta di.
18 Let it not grieue thee, when thou lettest him goe out free from thee: for he hath serued thee sixe yeeres, which is the double worth of an hired seruant: and the Lord thy God shall blesse thee in all that thou doest.
Du skal ikkje trega på at du lyt sleppa deim frå deg; for han hev arbeidt for deg i seks år, og leigefolk hadde kosta deg tvo gonger so mykje. Kom i hug dette, so skal Herren, din Gud, velsigna deg i alt du gjer!
19 All the first borne males that come of thy cattell, and of thy sheepe, thou shalt sanctifie vnto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt do no worke with thy first borne bullocke, nor sheare thy first borne sheepe.
Alle frumborne handyr i buskapen din skal du vigja til Herren din Gud. Frumborne uksar må du ikkje hava til arbeids, og frumborne sauer må du ikkje klyppa.
20 Thou shalt eate it before the Lord thy God yeere by yeere, in the place which the Lord shall chose, both thou, and thine household.
For Herrens åsyn skal du eta deim, år etter år, du og huslyden din, på den staden som Herren hev valt seg ut.
21 But if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or haue any euill fault, thou shalt not offer it vnto the Lord thy God,
Er det nokon lyte på deim, er dei halte eller blinde eller hev noko anna leidt lyte, då skal du ikkje ofra deim til Herren, din Gud;
22 But shalt eate it within thy gates: the vncleane, and the cleane shall eate it alike, as the roe bucke, and as the hart.
men heime hjå dykk sjølve kann de eta deim anten det er reine og ureine, liksom det var gasella eller hjort,
23 Onely thou shalt not eate the blood thereof, but powre it vpon the ground as water.
so nær som blodet; det må de ikkje eta; du skal slå det ut på marki som vatn.
