Deuteronomy 14
1 Ye are the children of the Lord your God. Ye shall not cut yourselues, nor make you any baldnesse betweene your eyes for the dead.
“Anh em là con dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, nên không được cắt da thịt mình hay cạo tóc phía trên trán trong dịp tang chế.
2 For thou art an holy people vnto ye Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a precious people vnto himselfe, aboue all the people that are vpon the earth.
Vì người Ít-ra-ên đã là dân thánh cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, và Ngài đã chọn Ít-ra-ên trong toàn thể các dân tộc trên toàn cầu cho mình.
3 Thou shalt eate no maner of abomination.
Không được ăn thịt thú vật ô uế.
4 These are the beastes, which ye shall eate, the beefe, the sheepe, and the goate,
Chỉ được ăn các loại thú vật sau đây: Bò, chiên, dê,
5 The hart, and the roe buck, and the bugle, and the wilde goate, and the vnicorne, and the wilde oxe, and the chamois.
nai, linh dương, hươu, dê rừng, bò rừng, sơn dương, và chiên núi.
6 And euery beast that parteth ye hoofe, and cleaueth the clift into two clawes, and is of the beasts that cheweth the cudde, that shall ye eate.
Anh em được ăn thịt con vật nào có móng chẻ đôi và nhai lại,
7 But these ye shall not eate, of them that chew the cud, and of them that deuide and cleaue the hoofe onely: ye camell, nor the hare, nor the cony: for they chewe the cudde, but deuide not ye hoofe: therefore they shall be vncleane vnto you:
tuy nhiên, không được ăn thịt lạc đà, thỏ rừng, chồn núi, vì các loại này nhai lại nhưng không có móng chẻ đôi. Vậy các loại này cũng không sạch.
8 Also the swine, because he deuideth the hoofe, and cheweth not the cud, shalbe vncleane vnto you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, nor touch their dead carkeises.
Con heo tuy có móng chẻ đôi nhưng không nhai lại, nên anh em không được ăn thịt nó, cũng đừng đụng đến xác chết của loài này.
9 These ye shall eate, of all that are in the waters: all that haue finnes and scales shall ye eate.
Trong các sinh vật sống dưới nước, anh em chỉ được ăn loài nào có vi và có vảy.
10 And whatsoeuer hath no finnes nor scales, ye shall not eate: it shall be vncleane vnto you.
Loài nào không vi và không vảy là không sạch, không được ăn.
11 Of all cleane birdes ye shall eate:
Anh em được ăn các loài chim sạch.
12 But these are they, whereof ye shall not eate: the eagle, nor the goshawke, nor the osprey,
Trừ ra phượng hoàng, kên kên, ó biển,
13 Nor the glead nor the kite, nor the vulture, after their kind,
chim diều, các loại chim ưng,
14 Nor all kinde of rauens,
các loại quạ,
15 Nor the ostrich, nor the nightcrow, nor the semeaw, nor the hawke after her kinde,
đà điểu, ó đêm, hải âu, các loại diều,
16 Neither the litle owle, nor the great owle, nor the redshanke,
các loại chim cú mèo, cò lửa, chim hạc,
17 Nor the pellicane, nor the swanne, nor the cormorant:
bồ nông, kên kên, còng cọc,
18 The storke also, and the heron in his kinde, nor the lapwing, nor the backe.
các loại cò, chim diệc, chim rẽ quạt, và dơi.
19 And euery creeping thing that flieth, shall be vncleane vnto you: it shall not be eaten.
Ngoài ra, anh em cũng không được ăn các loại côn trùng có cánh vì không sạch.
20 But of all cleane foules ye may eate.
Nhưng các loài chim có cánh sạch khác thì được ăn.
21 Ye shall eate of nothing that dieth alone, but thou shalt giue it vnto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eate it: or thou maiest sell it vnto a stranger: for thou art an holy people vnto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mothers milke.
Đừng ăn một sinh vật chết tự nhiên, vì anh em đã hiến dâng mình cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em. Tuy nhiên, anh em có thể đem con vật ấy bán hoặc cho người ngoại kiều. Đừng nấu thịt dê con chung với sữa của mẹ nó.”
22 Thou shalt giue the tithe of all the increase of thy seede, that commeth foorth of the fielde yeere by yeere.
“Phải nhớ dâng một phần mười mùa màng thu hoạch hằng năm.
23 And thou shalt eate before the Lord thy God (in the place which he shall chose to cause his Name to dwell there) the tithe of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the first borne of thy kine and of thy sheepe, that thou maiest learne to feare the Lord thy God alway.
Tại nơi Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, sẽ chọn đặt Danh Ngài, anh em sẽ ăn phần mười mình đem dâng trước mặt Ngài. Đó là lễ vật phần mười của ngũ cốc, rượu, dầu, và các con sinh đầu lòng trong bầy gia súc. Đây là cách anh em học kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, suốt đời.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to cary it, because the place is farre from thee, where the Lord thy God shall chose to set his Name, when the Lord thy God shall blesse thee,
Nếu nơi Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, đặt Danh Ngài xa quá, không tiện đem theo lễ vật một phần mười,
25 Then shalt thou make it in money, and take the money in thine hand, and goe vnto the place which the Lord thy God shall chose.
anh em có thể đem bán các lễ vật ấy, rồi lấy tiền đem lên nơi Đức Chúa Trời đã chọn.
26 And thou shalt bestowe the money for whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: whether it be oxe, or sheepe, or wine, or strong drinke, or whatsoeuer thine heart desireth: and shalt eate it there before the Lord thy God, and reioyce, both thou, and thine household.
Đến nơi, anh em sẽ dùng tiền ấy mua bò, chiên, rượu nho, rượu mạnh, tùy sở thích, rồi ăn uống hân hoan trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, cùng với cả gia đình mình.
27 And the Leuite that is within thy gates, shalt thou not forsake: for he hath neither part nor inheritance with thee.
Tuy nhiên, đừng quên người Lê-vi, nhớ mời họ dự chung với mình, vì họ không có đất đai mùa màng như anh em.
28 At the end of three yeere thou shalt bring foorth all the tithes of thine increase of the same yeere, and lay it vp within thy gates.
Cuối mỗi ba năm, tại mỗi địa phương, anh em phải đem một phần mười mùa màng thu được năm ấy vào thành, góp chung lại.
29 Then ye Leuite shall come, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherlesse, and the widowe, which are within thy gates, and shall eate, and be filled, that the Lord thy God may blesse thee in al the worke of thine hand which thou doest.
Những người Lê-vi (vì không có tài sản), người ngoại kiều, mồ côi, quả phụ sống trong địa phương này sẽ đến, ăn uống thỏa mãn. Như vậy, anh em sẽ được Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, ban phước lành, mọi việc mình làm sẽ được thịnh vượng.”
