Deuteronomy 12

1 These are the ordinances and the lawes, which ye shall obserue and doe in the lande (which the Lord God of thy fathers giueth thee to possesse it) as long as yee liue vpon the earth.

Selanjutnya Musa mengajarkan kepada umat Israel, “Inilah sejumlah ketetapan dan peraturan yang harus kalian taati dengan cermat selama kalian hidup di bumi ini yaitu di negeri yang diberikan TUHAN, Allah nenek moyang kita, untuk kalian duduki.

2 Yee shall vtterly destroy all the places wherein the nations which ye shall possesse, serued their gods vpon the hie mountaines and vpon the hilles, and vnder euery greene tree.

“Musnahkan setiap tempat penyembahan berhala yang dipakai oleh bangsa-bangsa yang akan kalian usir, tempat mereka menyembah dewa-dewa, baik itu di atas gunung, bukit, maupun di bawah pohon-pohon besar.

3 Also ye shall ouerthrowe their altars, and breake downe their pillars, and burne their groues with fire: and ye shall hew downe ye grauen images of their gods, and abolish their names out of that place.

Runtuhkan mezbah-mezbah mereka, hancurkanlah tugu-tugu berhala mereka yang terbuat dari batu. Bakarlah tiang-tiang kayu lambang dewi Asyera. Musnahkan setiap patung berhala, supaya tidak ada seorang pun yang akan teringat apalagi menyembah dewa-dewa itu di tempat itu lagi.

4 Ye shall not do so vnto ye Lord your God,

“Jangan menyembah TUHAN dengan meniru cara bangsa-bangsa itu beribadah. Mereka menyembah para dewa di mana saja.

5 But ye shall seeke the place which the Lord your God shall chose out of all your tribes, to put his Name there, and there to dwell, and thither thou shalt come,

Namun, kalian harus pergi dan menyembah TUHAN di tempat penyembahan kepada-Nya, yang letaknya akan Dia tentukan dari wilayah salah satu suku Israel.

6 And ye shall bring thither your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the offring of your hands, and your vowes, and your free offrings, and the first borne of your kine and of your sheepe.

Hanya di tempat itu kalian boleh mempersembahkan segala kurban yang dibakar habis, kurban sembelihan lain, persembahan perpuluhan, berbagai persembahan khusus, persembahan untuk memenuhi janji, persembahan sukarela, dan kurban anak sulung dari kawanan sapi, kambing, dan dombamu.

7 And there ye shall eate before the Lord your God, and ye shall reioyce in all that yee put your hand vnto, both ye, and your housholdes, because the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.

Di sanalah, di hadapan TUHAN, kalian bersama keluargamu akan mengadakan perjamuan dari persembahan kurban dan bergembira, karena semua usahamu diberkati TUHAN.

8 Ye shall not doe after all these things that we doe here this day: that is, euery man whatsoeuer seemeth him good in his owne eyes.

“Ketika kalian sudah tinggal di negeri Kanaan, janganlah berbuat seperti yang kalian lakukan di sini. Sekarang, setiap orang masih menyembah TUHAN sesuka hatinya

9 For ye are not yet come to rest, and to the inheritance which the Lord thy God giueth thee.

karena kalian belum tinggal dengan tenang di tempat tujuan akhir, yaitu negeri yang TUHAN Allah berikan sebagai milikmu turun temurun.

10 But when ye goe ouer Iorden, and dwell in ye land, which the Lord your God hath giuen you to inherit, and when he hath giue you rest from al your enemies round about, and yee dwel in safetie,

Tetapi sebentar lagi kalian akan menyeberangi sungai Yordan, dan TUHAN akan menolongmu menguasai wilayah di seberang sungai itu. Setelah Dia memberimu kelegaan dari perang, kalian akan hidup dengan tenang dan aman.

11 When there shalbe a place which the Lord your God shall chose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall yee bring all that I commaund you: your burnt offrings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the offring of your hands, and all your speciall vowes which ye vowe vnto the Lord:

TUHAN akan memilih satu tempat bagimu untuk menyembah Dia. Ke tempat itulah kamu semua harus membawa segala macam persembahan yang sudah saya perintahkan, termasuk persembahan perpuluhan, kurban yang dibakar habis, berbagai kurban sembelihan lainnya, dan persembahan untuk memenuhi janjimu kepada TUHAN.

12 And ye shall reioyce before the Lord your God, yee, and your sonnes and your daughters, and your seruaunts, and your maidens, and the Leuite that is within your gates: for hee hath no part nor inheritance with you.

“Pada waktu kamu sekalian mengadakan perjamuan dari persembahan kurban, lakukanlah itu di hadapan TUHAN di tempat penyembahan kepada-Nya, bersama istrimu, anak-anakmu, serta para budakmu laki-laki dan perempuan. Undanglah juga orang-orang suku Lewi yang tinggal di kota-kotamu, karena mereka tidak mendapat bagian tanah seperti yang akan kalian dapatkan.

13 Take heede that thou offer not thy burnt offrings in euery place that thou seest:

Ingatlah: Jangan mempersembahkan kurban sembelihan di sembarang tempat.

14 But in ye place which the Lord shall chose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offrings, and there thou shalt doe all that I commaund thee.

Persembahkanlah kurban hanya di tempat itu. Di sana kalian harus melakukan semua tata cara ibadah sesuai dengan perintah TUHAN yang sedang saya sampaikan kepada kalian.

15 Notwithstanding thou maiest kill and eate flesh in all thy gates, whatsoeuer thine heart desireth, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath giuen thee: both the vncleane and the cleane may eate thereof, as of the roe bucke, and of the hart.

“Namun demikian, kamu semua bebas memotong dan memakan daging hewan ternakmu di tempat tinggal masing-masing, seberapa pun yang kamu mau, sesuai dengan berkat yang diberikan TUHAN Allahmu. Memakan daging itu sama seperti ketika memakan daging rusa atau daging kijang. Semua orang boleh memakannya, baik dalam keadaan najis maupun tidak.

16 Onely ye shall not eat the blood, but powre it vpon the earth as water.

Tetapi darahnya jangan ikut dimakan. Keluarkanlah darah binatang itu dengan cara disembelih dan alirkan sampai habis ke tanah seperti air.

17 Thou maist nor eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corne, nor of thy wine, nor of thine oyle, nor the first borne of thy kine, nor of thy sheep, neither any of thy vowes which thou vowest, nor thy free offerings, nor the offering of thine hands,

“Di kotamu, janganlah memakan berbagai macam perpuluhan yang seharusnya diberikan kepada TUHAN, misalnya perpuluhan gandum-ganduman, hasil perasan anggur yang baru, atau minyak zaitun. Selain itu, anak sulung dari sapi dan kambing dombamu juga tidak boleh dimakan, karena harus dipersembahkan kepada TUHAN. Begitu juga persembahan sukarela, berbagai persembahan khusus, dan persembahan untuk memenuhi janjimu kepada TUHAN tidak boleh dimakan di sembarang tempat.

18 But thou shalt eate it before the Lord thy God, in the place which the Lord thy God shall chuse, thou, and thy sonne, and thy daughter, and thy seruat, and thy maid, and the Leuite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt reioyce before the Lord thy God, in all that thou puttest thine hand to.

Sebaliknya, bagian dari persembahanmu itu harus dimakan di tempat penyembahan khusus yang akan ditentukan oleh TUHAN. Berarti kamu beserta istrimu, anak-anakmu, budakmu laki-laki dan perempuan, maupun keturunan suku Lewi yang tinggal di dekatmu harus pergi ke tempat itu dan mengadakan acara persembahan dan memakan bagiannya di hadapan TUHAN di tempat itu saja. Pada waktu itu, hendaklah kalian bersukacita di hadapan TUHAN Allahmu karena kelimpahan segala hasil usahamu.

19 Beware, that thou forsake not the Leuite, as long as thou liuest vpon the earth.

Selama kalian hidup di negeri itu, pastikanlah kebutuhan hidup orang-orang suku Lewi tercukupi.

20 When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as hee hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I wil eate flesh, (because thine heart longeth to eate flesh) thou maiest eate flesh, whatsoeuer thine heart desireth.

“Sesudah TUHAN Allahmu memperluas daerah kalian seperti yang Dia janjikan, sehingga tempat yang Dia pilih sebagai tempat penyembahan kepada-Nya terlalu jauh dari rumahmu, maka ketika kamu ingin makan daging, kamu boleh memotong ternakmu dan memakannya di kotamu masing-masing. Jadi, seperti yang sudah saya perintahkan, kalian dapat makan daging sesuka hati.

21 If the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to put his Name there, be farre from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy bullockes, and of thy sheepe which the Lord hath giuen thee, as I haue commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates, whatsoeuer thine heart desireth.

22 Euen as the roe bucke, and the hart is eaten, so shalt thou eat them. both the vncleane and the cleane shall eate of them alike.

Orang-orang dalam keadaan tidak najis maupun najis boleh memakan daging itu, seperti sekarang ini kalian makan daging rusa dan kijang.

23 Onely bee sure that thou eate not the blood: for the blood is the life, and thou maiest not eate the life with the flesh.

Tetapi darahnya tidak boleh ikut dimakan, sebab darah adalah lambang kehidupan yang TUHAN berikan kepada setiap makhluk hidup. Darah binatang atau burung harus dikeluarkan sampai habis, dengan cara dialirkan ke tanah seperti air, sebelum kamu memakan dagingnya.

24 Therefore thou shalt not eat it, but powre it vpon the earth as water.

25 Thou shalt not eat it, that it may go well with thee; and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt doe that which is right in the sight of the Lord:

Jangan sekali-kali makan darah! Maka kamu dan keturunanmu akan senantiasa hidup sejahtera karena melakukan apa yang benar dalam pandangan TUHAN.

26 But thine holy things which thou hast, and thy vowes thou shalt take vp, and come vnto the place which the Lord shall chuse.

“Tetapi semua hal yang kamu khususkan untuk dipersembahkan kepada TUHAN, termasuk persembahan untuk memenuhi janji, bawalah itu ke tempat penyembahan kepada-Nya.

27 And thou shalt make thy burnt offerings of the flesh, and of the blood vpon the altar of the Lord thy God, and the blood of thine offerings shall bee powred vpon the altar of the Lord thy God, and thou shalt eate the flesh.

Semua kurban yang dibakar habis harus dipersembahkan di mezbah TUHAN Allahmu, baik dagingnya maupun darahnya. Darah kurban harus ditumpahkan di sisi mezbah TUHAN, tetapi ada beberapa jenis kurban yang dagingnya boleh dimakan.

28 Take heede, and heare all these woordes which I commaund thee, that it may goe well with thee, and with thy children after thee for euer, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.

Taatilah dengan cermat semua perintah yang saya ajarkan kepadamu, agar kamu dan keturunanmu senantiasa hidup sejahtera. Itu hanya bisa terjadi kalau kamu melakukan hal-hal yang baik dan hidup benar dalam pandangan TUHAN Allahmu.”

29 When the Lord thy God shall destroy the nations before thee, whither thou goest to possesse them, and thou shalt possesse them and dwell in their lande,

“Ketika kalian memasuki negeri yang akan kalian duduki dan maju menyerang setiap daerah, TUHAN Allah kita akan mengusir dan menghabisi bangsa yang tinggal di sana.

30 Beware, lest thou be taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroied before thee, and lest thou aske after their gods, saying, Howe did these nations serue their gods, that I may doe so likewise?

Sesudah itu, berhati-hatilah! Jangan sampai kalian meniru adat-adat mereka dan menyembah dewa-dewa mereka, karena perbuatan itu pasti mendatangkan bencana atasmu. Jangan meminta petunjuk kepada siapa pun dengan berkata, ‘Beritahu kami bagaimana penduduk sebelumnya menyembah dewa-dewa mereka, agar kami juga menyembah para dewa itu.’

31 Thou shalt not doe so vnto the Lord thy God: for al abomination, which the Lord hateth, haue they done vnto their gods: for they haue burned both their sonnes and their daughters with fire to their gods.

Janganlah menyembah TUHAN Allahmu dengan meniru cara bangsa lain menyembah dewa-dewa mereka, karena dalam penyembahan dewa, mereka melakukan semua hal yang sangat TUHAN benci, misalnya membakar anak-anak mereka sendiri di atas mezbah sebagai kurban untuk para dewa.

32 Therefore whatsoeuer I command you, take heede you doe it: thou shalt put nothing thereto, nor take ought therefrom.

“Lakukanlah dengan teliti semua yang saya perintahkan ini. Jangan menambah atau mengurangi sedikit pun darinya.”
