Daniel 9
1 In the first yeere of Darius the sonne of Ahashuerosh, of the seede of the Medes, which was made King ouer the realme of the Caldeans,
Dans la première année de Darius, fils d’Assuérus, de la race des Mèdes, qui avait été placé à la tête du royaume des Chaldéens,
2 Euen in the first yeere of his reigne, I Daniel vnderstood by bookes the nomber of the yeeres, whereof the Lord had spoken vnto Ieremiah the Prophet, that he would accomplish seuentie yeeres in the desolation of Ierusalem.
dans la première année de son règne, moi Daniel, lisant dans les livres, je cherchais à comprendre le compte des années qui, suivant la parole de Dieu adressée au prophète Jérémie, devaient passer sur les ruines de Jérusalem, à savoir soixante-dix années.
3 And I turned my face vnto the Lord God, and sought by prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
Et j’élevai mes regards vers le Seigneur Dieu pour l’implorer par des prières et des supplications, en jeûnant et me couvrant d’un cilice et de cendres.
4 And I prayed vnto the Lord my God, and made my confession, saying, Oh Lord God, which art great and fearefull, and keepest couenant and mercy toward them which loue thee, and toward them that keepe thy commandements,
J’Adressai donc à l’Eternel, mon Dieu, ma prière et ma confession, et je dis: "O Seigneur, Dieu grand et redoutable, qui gardes ton alliance et ta bienveillance à ceux qui t’aiment et observent tes commandements,
5 We haue sinned, and haue committed iniquitie and haue done wickedly, yea, we haue rebelled, and haue departed from thy precepts, and from thy iudgements.
nous avons péché et prévariqué, nous nous sommes abandonnés au mal et à la rébellion, écartés de tes préceptes et de tes statuts;
6 For we would not obey thy seruants the Prophets, which spake in thy Name to our Kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
nous avons refusé d’écouter tes serviteurs, les prophètes, qui parlaient en ton nom à nos rois, à nos princes, à nos pères, à tous les gens du pays.
7 O Lord, righteousnes belongeth vnto thee, and vnto vs open shame, as appeareth this day vnto euery man of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem: yea, vnto all Israel, both neere and farre off, through all the countreys, whither thou hast driuen them, because of their offences, that they haue committed against thee.
Avec toi, ô Seigneur, est le bon droit, et sur nous rejaillit la honte en ce jour, sur les hommes de Juda, les habitants de Jérusalem, et tous les Israélites, proches ou éloignés, dans tous les pays où tu les as relégués à cause de l’infidélité qu’ils ont commise à ton égard.
8 O Lord, vnto vs apperteineth open shame, to our Kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we haue sinned against thee.
Oui, Seigneur, sur nous rejaillit la honte, sur nos rois, nos princes, nos ancêtres, car nous avons péché contre toi.
9 Yet compassion and forgiuenesse is in the Lord our God, albeit we haue rebelled against him.
Mais au Seigneur appartiennent la clémence et le pardon, puisque nous nous sommes insurgés contre toi,
10 For we haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lord our God, to walke in his lawes, which he had laide before vs by the ministerie of his seruants the Prophets.
et que nous avons refusé d’obéir à la voix de l’Eternel, notre Dieu, en suivant les instructions qu’il nous avait exposées par l’organe de ses serviteurs, les prophètes.
11 Yea, all Israel haue transgressed thy Lawe, and are turned backe, and haue not heard thy voyce: therefore the curse is powred vpon vs, and the othe that is written in the Lawe of Moses the seruant of God, because we haue sinned against him.
Tout Israël a transgressé ta loi et s’est détourné pour ne pas entendre ta voix; aussi, avons-nous vu fondre sur nous la malédiction et l’imprécation consignées dans la loi de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, parce que nous avons péché contre lui.
12 And he hath confirmed his wordes, which he spake against vs, and against our iudges that iudged vs, by bringing vpon vs a great plague: for vnder the whole heauen hath not bene the like, as hath bene brought vpon Ierusalem.
Il a exécuté la menace qu’il avait énoncée contre nous et contre les juges qui nous gouvernaient, en amenant sur nous un grand désastre; car sous toute l’étendue des cieux, il n’est arrivé rien de comparable à ce qui est arrivé à Jérusalem.
13 All this plague is come vpon vs, as it is written in the Lawe of Moses: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turne from our iniquities and vnderstand thy trueth.
Conformément à ce qui est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, toute cette calamité nous a atteints, et nous n’avons pas cherché à fléchir l’Eternel, notre Dieu, en renonçant à nos fautes et en nous pénétrant de ta vérité.
14 Therefore hath the Lord made ready the plague, and brought it vpon vs: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we would not heare his voyce.
Aussi l’Eternel, accélérant le malheur, l’a-t-il fait fondre sur nous, car l’Eternel est juste en toutes les œuvres qu’il accomplit, tandis que nous n’avons pas obéi à sa voix.
15 And nowe, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mightie hand, and hast gotten thee renoume, as appeareth this day, we haue sinned, we haue done wickedly.
Et maintenant, Seigneur, notre Dieu, qui d’une main puissante as fait sortir ton peuple du pays d’Egypte, et qui t’es assuré un renom jusqu’à ce jour, nous avons péché et fait le mal.
16 O Lord, according to all thy righteousnes, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy wrath be turned away from thy citie Ierusalem thine holy Mountaine: for because of our sinnes, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Ierusalem and thy people are a reproche to all that are about vs.
Seigneur, en vertu de toutes tes bontés, daigne détourner ta colère et ton indignation de Jérusalem, ta ville, et de ta sainte montagne; car, par suite de nos péchés et des iniquités de nos pères, Jérusalem et ton peuple sont en butte aux outrages de tous nos voisins.
17 Nowe therefore, O our God, heare the prayer of thy serunant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine vpon thy Sanctuarie, that lyeth waste for the Lords sake.
Donc, à présent, entends, notre Dieu, la prière de ton serviteur et ses supplications; fais luire ta face sur ton sanctuaire dévasté, par égard pour le nom du Seigneur.
18 O my God, encline thine eare and heare: open thine eyes, and beholde our desolations, and the citie whereupon thy Name is called: for we doe not present our supplications before thee for our owne righteousnes, but for thy great tender mercies.
Incline, mon Dieu, ton oreille et écoute, ouvre les yeux et vois nos ruines et la ville qui a été appelée de ton nom. Certes, ce n’est pas en raison de nos mérites que nous répandons nos supplications devant toi, mais en raison de ta grande miséricorde.
19 O Lord, heare, O Lord forgiue, O Lord consider, and doe it: deferre not, for thine owne sake, O my God: for thy Name is called vpon thy citie, and vpon thy people.
Seigneur, entends! Seigneur, pardonne! Seigneur, sois attentif et agis sans retard, pour ton propre honneur, ô mon Dieu! Car ton nom est associé à ta ville et à ton peuple."
20 And whiles I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sinne, and the sinne of my people Israel, and did present my supplication before the Lord my God, for the holy Mountaine of my God,
Je parlais et priais encore, en confessant mes péchés et les péchés de mon peuple Israël, j’épanchais ma supplication devant l’Eternel, mon Dieu, au sujet de la sainte montagne de mon Dieu,
21 Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, euen the man Gabriel, whome I had seene before in the vision, came flying, and touched mee about the time of the euening oblation.
je prononçais encore, dis-je, ma prière, lorsque Gabriel, ce personnage que j’avais vu dans la vision antérieure, arriva vers moi tout essoufflé, vers l’heure de l’oblation du soir.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and sayd, O Daniel, I am now come forth to giue thee knowledge and vnderstanding.
II me donna des éclaircissements et s’entretint avec moi; il me dit: "Daniel, je me suis mis en route présentement pour te donner une claire intelligence des choses.
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandement came foorth, and I am come to shewe thee, for thou art greatly beloued: therefore vnderstande the matter and consider the vision.
Dès le début de tes supplications, une déclaration a été émise, et je suis venu te la communiquer; car tu es un être de prédilection. Médite cette déclaration et rends-toi compte de la vision:
24 Seuentie weekes are determined vpon thy people and vpon thine holy citie, to finish the wickednes, and to seale vp the sinnes, and to reconcile the inquitie, and to bring in euerlasting righteousnesse, and to seale vp the vision and prophecie, and to anoynt the most Holy.
Soixante-dix semaines ont été fixées comme terme à ton peuple et à ta ville sainte pour éteindre la rébellion, mettre fin aux péchés, effacer l’iniquité et établir une justice éternelle, de façon à réaliser la vision et la parole du prophète et faire l’onction du saint des saints.
25 Knowe therefore and vnderstande, that from the going foorth of the commandement to bring againe the people, and to builde Ierusalem, vnto Messiah the prince, shall be seuen weekes and threescore and two weekes, and the streete shalbe built againe, and the wall euen in a troublous time.
Sache donc et comprends bien qu’à partir du moment où fut donné l’ordre de recommencer à reconstruire Jérusalem jusqu’à un prince oint il y a sept semaines; et durant soixante-deux semaines Jérusalem sera de nouveau rebâtie rues et fossés des remparts mais en pleine détresse des temps.
26 And after threescore and two weekes, shall Messiah be slaine, and shall haue nothing, and the people of the prince that shall come, shall destroy the citie and the Sanctuarie, and the end thereof shalbe with a flood: and vnto the end of the battell it shalbe destroyed by desolations.
Et après ces soixante-deux semaines, un oint sera supprimé, sans avoir de successeur légitime, la ville et le sanctuaire seront ruinés par le peuple d’un souverain à venir; finalement celui-ci sera violemment emporté, mais jusqu’à la fin séviront la guerre et les dévastations.
27 And he shall confirme the couenant with many for one weeke: and in the middes of the weeke he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the ouerspreading of the abominations, he shall make it desolate, euen vntill the consummation determined shalbe powred vpon the desolate.
Pendant une semaine, il fera prédominer son alliance avec un grand nombre, et pendant une demi-semaine, il abolira sacrifices et oblations et placera sur le flanc de l’autel d’horribles abominations, jusqu’à ce qu’un arrêt de destruction s’abatte sur l’auteur de ces horreurs.
