Daniel 1
1 In the thirde yeere of the reigne of Iehoiakim king of Iudah, came Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel vnto Ierusalem and besieged it.
Godine treæe carovanja Joakima cara Judina doðe Navuhodonosor car Vavilonski na Jerusalim, i opkoli ga.
2 And ye Lord gaue Iehoiakim king of Iudah into his hand; with parte of the vessels of the house of God, which he caryed into the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into his gods treasurie.
I Gospod mu dade u ruku Joakima cara Judina i dio sudova doma Božijega, i odnese ih u zemlju Senar u dom boga svojega, i metnu sudove u riznicu boga svojega.
3 And the King spake vnto Ashpenaz the master of his Eunuches, that he shoulde bring certeine of the children of Israel, of the Kings seede, and of the princes:
I reèe car Asfenazu starješini svojih dvorana da dovede izmeðu sinova Izrailjevijeh, i od carskoga sjemena i od knezova
4 Children in whome was no blemish, but well fauoured, and instruct in all wisedome, and well seene in knowledge, and able to vtter knowledge, and such as were able to stande in the kings palace, and whome they might teach the learning, and the tongue of the Caldeans.
Mladiæa na kojima nema mane, i koji su lijepa lica i nauèeni svakoj mudrosti i vješti znanju i razumni i koji mogu stajati u carskom dvoru, pa da ih uèi knjigu i jezik Haldejski.
5 And the King appointed them prouision euery day of a portion of the Kings meate, and and of the wine, which he dranke, so nourishing them three yeere, that at the ende thereof, they might stande before the King.
I odredi im car obrok na dan od jela carskoga i od vina koje on pijaše, da se hrane tri godine a poslije da stoje pred carem.
6 Nowe among these were certeine of the children of Iudah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
A meðu njima bjehu od sinova Judinijeh Danilo, Ananija, Misailo i Azarija.
7 Vnto whome the chiefe of the Eunuches gaue other names: for hee called Daniel, Belteshazzar, and Hananiah, Shadrach, and Mishael, Meshach, and Azariah, Abednego.
A starješina nad dvoranima predje im imena, i Danilu nadje ime Valtasar, a Ananiji Sedrah, a Misailu Misah, a Azariji Avdenago.
8 But Daniel had determined in his heart, that hee woulde not defile him selfe with the portion of the Kings meate, nor with the wine which he dranke: therefore he required the chiefe of the Eunuches that he might not defile himselfe.
Ali Danilo naumi da se ne skvrni obrokom jela careva i vinom koje on pijaše, i zamoli se starješini nad dvoranima da se ne skvrni.
9 (Nowe God had brought Daniel into fauour, and tender loue with the chiefe of the Eunuches)
I dade Bog Danilu te naðe milost i ljubav u starješine nad dvoranima.
10 And the chiefe of the Eunuches sayd vnto Daniel, I feare my lord the King, who hath appointed your meate and your drinke: therefore if he see your faces worse liking then the other children, which are of your sort, then shall you make me lose mine head vnto the King.
I reèe starješina nad dvoranima Danilu: bojim se gospodara svojega cara, koji vam je odredio jelo i piæe; jer kad car vidi lica vaša lošija nego u ostalih mladiæa, vaših vrsnika, zašto da mi uèinite da budem glavom kriv caru?
11 Then sayd Daniel to Melzar, whome the chiefe of the Eunuches had set ouer Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
A Danilo reèe Amelsaru, kojega starješina nad dvoranima postavi nad Danilom, Ananijom, Misailom i Azarijom:
12 Proue thy seruants, I beseeche thee, ten dayes, and let them giue vs pulse to eate, and water to drinke.
Ogledaj sluge svoje za deset dana, neka nam se daje varivo da jedemo i vode da pijemo.
13 Then let our countenances bee looked vpon before thee, and the countenances of the children that eate of the portion of the Kings meate: and as thou seest, deale with thy seruantes.
Pa onda neka nam se vide lica pred tobom i lica mladiæima koji jedu carsko jelo, pa kako vidiš, onako èini sa slugama svojim.
14 So hee consented to them in this matter, an proued them ten dayes.
I posluša ih u tom, i ogleda ih za deset dana.
15 And at the end of ten dayes, their countenances appeared fayrer, and in better liking then all the childrens, which did eate the portion of the Kings meate.
A poslije deset dana lica im doðoše ljepša i mesnatija nego u svijeh mladiæa koji jeðahu carsko jelo.
16 Thus Melzar tooke away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drinke, and gaue them pulse.
I Amelsar uzimaše jelo njihovo i vino koje njima trebaše piti, i davaše im variva.
17 As for these foure children, God gaue them knowledge, and vnderstanding in al learning and wisedome: also he gaue Daniel vnderstanding of all visions and dreames.
I dade Bog svoj èetvorici mladiæa znanje i razum u svakoj knjizi i mudrosti; a Danilu dade da razumije svaku utvaru i sne.
18 Nowe when the time was expired, that the King had appoynted to bring them in, the chiefe of the Eunuches brought them before Nebuchad-nezzar.
I kad proðe vrijeme po kom car bješe rekao da ih izvedu, izvede ih starješina nad dvoranima pred Navuhodonosora.
19 And the King communed with them: and among them al was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stoode they before the king.
I govori car s njima, i ne naðe se meðu svjema njima nijedan kao Danilo, Ananija, Misailo i Azarija; i stajahu pred carem.
20 And in all matters of wisedome, and vnderstanding that the King enquired of them, hee founde them tenne times better then all the inchanters and astrologians, that were in all his realme.
I u svemu èemu treba mudrost i razum, za što ih car zapita, naðe da su deset puta bolji od svijeh vraèa i zvjezdara što ih bješe u svemu carstvu njegovu.
21 And Daniel was vnto the first yeere of king Cyrus.
I osta Danilo do prve godine cara Kira.
