Amos 6
1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the moutaine of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
"Celaka atas orang-orang yang merasa aman di Sion, atas orang-orang yang merasa tenteram di gunung Samaria, atas orang-orang terkemuka dari bangsa yang utama, orang-orang yang kepada mereka kaum Israel biasa datang!
2 Goe you vnto Calneh, and see: and from thence goe you to Hamath the great: then goe downe to Gath of the Philistims: be they better then these kingdomes? or the border of their land greater then your border,
Menyeberanglah ke Kalne, dan lihat-lihatlah; berjalanlah dari sana ke Hamat yang besar itu, dan pergilah ke Gat orang Filistin! Adakah mereka lebih baik dari kerajaan-kerajaan ini, atau lebih besarkah daerah mereka dari daerahmu?
3 Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie?
Hai kamu, yang menganggap jauh hari malapetaka, tetapi mendekatkan pemerintahan kekerasan;
4 They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall.
yang berbaring di tempat tidur dari gading dan duduk berjuntai di ranjang; yang memakan anak-anak domba dari kumpulan kambing domba dan anak-anak lembu dari tengah-tengah kawanan binatang yang tambun;
5 They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid.
yang bernyanyi-nyanyi mendengar bunyi gambus, dan seperti Daud menciptakan bunyi-bunyian bagi dirinya;
6 They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.
yang minum anggur dari bokor, dan berurap dengan minyak yang paling baik, tetapi tidak berduka karena hancurnya keturunan Yusuf!
7 Therefore nowe shall they go captiue with the first that go captiue, and the sorow of them that stretched themselues, is at hand.
Sebab itu sekarang, mereka akan pergi sebagai orang buangan di kepala barisan, dan berlalulah keriuhan pesta orang-orang yang duduk berjuntai itu."
8 The Lord God hath sworne by himselfe, saith the Lord God of hostes, I abhorre the excellencie of Iaakob, and hate his palaces: therefore wil I deliuer vp the citie with all that is therein.
Tuhan ALLAH telah bersumpah demi diri-Nya, --demikianlah firman TUHAN, Allah semesta alam--:"Aku ini keji kepada kecongkakan Yakub, dan benci kepada purinya; Aku akan menyerahkan kota serta isinya."
9 And if there remaine ten men in one house, they shall die.
Dan jika masih tinggal sepuluh orang dalam satu rumah, mereka akan mati.
10 And his vncle shall take him vp and burne him to cary out the bones out of the house, and shall say vnto him, that is by ye sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Holde thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.
Dan jika pamannya, pembakar mayat itu, yang datang mengangkat dan mengeluarkan mayat itu dari rumah itu, bertanya kepada orang yang ada di bagian belakang rumah: "Adakah lagi orang bersama-sama engkau?" dan dijawab: "Tidak ada," ia akan berkata: "Diam!" Sebab tidaklah patut menyebut-nyebut nama TUHAN!
11 For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the litle house with clefts.
Sebab sesungguhnya, TUHAN memberi perintah, maka rumah besar dirobohkan menjadi reruntuhan dan rumah kecil menjadi rosokan.
12 Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.
Berlarikah kuda-kuda di atas bukit batu, atau dibajak orangkah laut dengan lembu? Sungguh, kamu telah mengubah keadilan menjadi racun dan hasil kebenaran menjadi ipuh!
13 Ye reioyce in a thing of nought: yee say, Haue not wee gotten vs hornes by our owne strength?
Hai kamu, yang bersukacita karena Lodabar, dan yang berkata: "Bukankah kita dengan kekuatan kita merebut Karnaim bagi kita?"
14 But behold, I wil raise vp against you a nation, O house of Israel, sayeth the Lord God of hostes: and they shall afflict you, from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of the wildernes.
"Sebab sesungguhnya, Aku akan membangkitkan suatu bangsa melawan kamu, hai kaum Israel," demikianlah firman TUHAN, Allah semesta alam, "dan mereka akan menindas kamu dari jalan yang menuju ke Hamat sampai ke sungai yang di Araba."
