< Amos 6 >

1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the moutaine of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
woe! [the] secure in/on/with Zion and [the] to trust in/on/with mountain: mount Samaria to pierce first: beginning [the] nation and to come (in): come to/for them house: household Israel
2 Goe you vnto Calneh, and see: and from thence goe you to Hamath the great: then goe downe to Gath of the Philistims: be they better then these kingdomes? or the border of their land greater then your border,
to pass Calneh and to see: see and to go: went from there Hamath the great Hamath the great and to go down Gath Philistine pleasant from [the] kingdom [the] these if: surely yes many border: area their from border: area your
3 Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie?
[the] to put away to/for day bad: evil and to approach: bring [emph?] seat violence
4 They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall.
[the] to lie down: lay down upon bed tooth: ivory and to overrun upon bed their and to eat ram from flock and calf from midst stall
5 They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid.
[the] to divide upon lip: word [the] harp like/as David to devise: design to/for them article/utensil song
6 They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.
[the] to drink in/on/with bowl wine and first: best oil to anoint and not be weak: grieved upon breaking (Joseph *L(abh)*)
7 Therefore nowe shall they go captiue with the first that go captiue, and the sorow of them that stretched themselues, is at hand.
to/for so now to reveal: remove in/on/with head: first to reveal: remove and to turn aside: remove banquet to overrun
8 The Lord God hath sworne by himselfe, saith the Lord God of hostes, I abhorre the excellencie of Iaakob, and hate his palaces: therefore wil I deliuer vp the citie with all that is therein.
to swear Lord YHWH/God in/on/with soul: myself his utterance LORD God Hosts to loathe I [obj] pride Jacob and citadel: fortress his to hate and to shut city and fullness her
9 And if there remaine ten men in one house, they shall die.
and to be if to remain ten human in/on/with house: home one and to die
10 And his vncle shall take him vp and burne him to cary out the bones out of the house, and shall say vnto him, that is by ye sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Holde thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.
and to lift: raise him beloved: male relative his and to burn him to/for to come out: send bone from [the] house: home and to say to/for which in/on/with flank [the] house: home still with you and to say end and to say to silence for not to/for to remember in/on/with name LORD
11 For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the litle house with clefts.
for behold LORD to command and to smite [the] house: home [the] great: large fragment and [the] house: home [the] small breach
12 Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.
to run: run [emph?] in/on/with crag horse if: surely yes to plow/plot in/on/with cattle for to overturn to/for poison justice and fruit righteousness to/for wormwood
13 Ye reioyce in a thing of nought: yee say, Haue not wee gotten vs hornes by our owne strength?
[the] glad to/for Lo-debar Lo-debar [the] to say not in/on/with strength our to take: take to/for us Karnaim
14 But behold, I wil raise vp against you a nation, O house of Israel, sayeth the Lord God of hostes: and they shall afflict you, from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of the wildernes.
for look! I to arise: attack upon you house: household Israel utterance LORD God [the] Hosts nation and to oppress [obj] you from Lebo-(Hamath) Hamath till Brook [the] (Brook of) the Arabah
