Amos 1
1 The wordes of Amos, who was among the heardmen at Tecoa, which he sawe vpon Israel, in the dayes of Vzziah king of Iudah, and in the dayes of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash King of Israel, two yeere before the earthquake.
Le parole di Amos, che era de' mandriali di Tecoa; le quali gli furono rivelate in visione intorno ad Israele, a' di di Uzzia, re di Giuda; e a' dì di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Gioas, re d'Israele; due anni avanti il tremoto.
2 And he saide, The Lord shall roare from Zion, and vtter his voyce from Ierusalem, and the dwelling places of the shepheards shall perish, and the top of Carmel shall wither,
EGLI disse adunque: Il Signore ruggirà da Sion, e darà fuori la sua voce da Gerusalemme; ed i paschi de' pastori faranno cordoglio, e la sommità di Carmel si seccherà.
3 Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus, and for foure I will not turne to it, because they haue threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of yron.
Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti di Damasco, nè per quattro, io non gli renderò la sua retribuzione; [ma], perciocchè hanno tritato Galaad con trebbie di ferro.
4 Therefore will I sende a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Ben-hadad.
E manderò un fuoco nella casa di Hazael, il quale consumerà i palazzi di Ben-hadad.
5 I will breake also the barres of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant of Bikeath-auen: and him that holdeth the scepter out of Beth-eden, and the people of Aram shall goe into captiuitie vnto Kir, sayth the Lord.
Ed io romperò le sbarre di Damasco, e sterminerò della valle di Aven gli abitanti, e della casa di Eden colui che tiene lo scettro; e il popolo di Siria andrà in cattività in Chir, ha detto il Signore.
6 Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Azzah, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they caried away prisoners the whole captiuitie to shut them vp in Edom.
Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti di Gaza, nè per quattro, io non le renderò la sua retribuzione; [ma], perciocchè hanno tratto [il mio popolo] in cattività intiera, mettendo[lo] in mano di Edom.
7 Therefore will I sende a fire vpon the walles of Azzah, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.
E manderò un fuoco nelle mura di Gaza, il quale consumerà i suoi palazzi;
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the scepter from Ashkelon, and turne mine hande to Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistims shall perish, sayth the Lord God.
e sterminerò di Asdod gli abitanti, e di Aschelon colui che tiene lo scettro; poi rivolterò la mia mano sopra Ecron, e il rimanente de' Filistei perirà, ha detto il Signore Iddio.
9 Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they shut the whole captiuitie in Edom, and haue not remembred the brotherly couenant.
Così ha detto il Signore: Pre tre misfatti di Tiro, nè per quattro, io non gli renderò la sua retribuzione; [ma], perciocchè hanno messo [il mio popolo] in man di Edom, in cattività intiera; e non si son ricordati del patto fraterno.
10 Therefore wil I send a fire vpon ye walles of Tyrus, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.
E manderò un fuoco nelle mura di Tiro, il quale consumerà i suoi palazzi.
11 Thus sayeth the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because hee did pursue his brother with the sworde, and did cast off all pitie, and his anger spoyled him euermore, and his wrath watched him alway.
Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti di Edom, nè per quattro, io non gli renderò la sua retribuzione; [ma], perciocchè egli ha perseguitato con la spada il suo fratello, ed ha violate le sue compassioni; e la sua ira lacera perpetuamente, ed egli serba la sua indegnazione senza fine.
12 Therefore will I send a fire vpon Teman, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Bozrah.
E manderò un fuoco in Teman, il quale consumerà i palazzi di Bosra.
13 Thus sayth ye Lord, For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they haue ript vp the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.
Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre misfatti de' figliuoli di Ammon, nè per quattro, io non renderò loro la lor retribuzione; [ma], perciocchè hanno fesse le [donne] gravide di Galaad, per allargare i lor confini.
14 Therefore will I kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battell, and with a tempest in the day of the whirlewinde.
E accenderò un fuoco nelle mura di Rabba, il quale consumerà i suoi palazzi, con istormo nel giorno della battaglia, e con turbo nel giorno della tempesta.
15 And their King shall go into captiuitie, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
E Malcam andrà in cattività, con tutti i suoi principi, ha detto il Signore.
