Acts 14
1 And it came to passe in Iconium, that they went both together into the Synagogue of the Iewes, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Iewes and of the Grecians beleeued.
In Ikonium besuchten sie zusammen das jüdische Versammlungshaus und redeten dort mit solchem Erfolg, daß Juden und Heiden in großer Anzahl gläubig wurden.
2 And the vnbeleeuing Iewes stirred vp, and corrupted the mindes of the Gentiles against the brethren.
Die Juden aber, die ungläubig blieben, regten die heidnische Bevölkerung auf und machten sie gehässig gegen die Brüder.
3 So therefore they abode there a long time, and spake boldly in the Lord, which gaue testimonie vnto the woord of his grace, and caused signes and woders to be done by their hands.
Paulus und Barnabas blieben geraume Zeit dort und wirkten unerschrocken im Vertrauen auf den Herrn, der für das Wort von seiner Gnade Zeugnis gab, indem er Zeichen und Wunder durch ihre Hände geschehen ließ.
4 But the multitude of the city was deuided: and some were with the Iewes, and some with the Apostles.
Endlich spaltete sich die Bevölkerung der Stadt in zwei Parteien: die einen hielten es mit den Juden, die anderen mit den Aposteln.
5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and of the Iewes with their rulers, to doe them violence, and to stone them,
Als diese erfuhren, daß die Heiden und die Juden im Einverständnis mit ihrer Obrigkeit damit umgingen, sie zu mißhandeln und zu steinigen,
6 They were ware of it, and fled vnto Lystra, and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and vnto the region round about,
da entflohen sie in die lykaonischen Städte Lystra und Derbe und deren Nachbarschaft.
7 And there preached the Gospel.
Dort fuhren sie fort, die Frohe Botschaft zu verkünden.
8 Nowe there sate a certaine man at Lystra, impotent in his feete, which was a creeple from his mothers wombe, who had neuer walked.
In Lystra lebte damals ein Mann, der hatte keine Kraft in seinen Füßen; er war von Geburt lahm, mußte immer stillsitzen und hatte noch nie umhergehen können.
9 He heard Paul speake: who beholding him, and perceiuing that he had faith to be healed,
Da hörte er Paulus reden. Paulus sah ihn scharf an, und da er merkte, daß der Mann Vertrauen hatte, geheilt zu werden,
10 Said with a loude voyce, Stand vpright on thy feete. And he leaped vp, and walked.
rief er ihm mit lauter Stimme zu: "Tritt aufrecht auf deine Füße!" Da sprang er auf und ging umher.
11 Then when the people sawe what Paul had done, they lift vp their voyces, saying in ye speach of Lycaonia, Gods are come downe to vs in the likenesse of men.
Als die Leute sahen, was Paulus getan, da riefen sie in ihrer Landessprache: "Die Götter sind in menschlicher Gestalt zu uns herabgekommen!"
12 And they called Barnabas, Iupiter: and Paul, Mercurius, because hee was the chiefe speaker.
Sie nannten Barnabas "Zeus" und Paulus "Hermes", weil er das Wort führte.
13 Then Iupiters priest, which was before their citie, brought bulles with garlands vnto the gates, and would haue sacrificed with the people.
Der Priester des Zeus, der am Eingang der Stadt einen Tempel hatte, brachte Stiere und Kränze zu dem Stadttor und schickte sich an, zusammen mit dem Volk ein Opfer darzubringen.
14 But when the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul heard it, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying,
Sobald die Apostel Paulus und Barnabas dies erfuhren, zerrissen sie ihre Kleider, eilten aus ihrem Haus, sprangen unter die Menge
15 And saying, O men, why doe yee these things? We are euen men subiect to the like passions that yee be, and preache vnto you, that yee shoulde turne from these vaine things vnto the liuing God, which made heauen and earth, and the sea, and all things that in them are:
und riefen: "Ihr Männer, warum tut ihr das? Auch wir sind Menschen ganz ebenso wie ihr. Wir bringen euch die Botschaft, daß ihr euch von diesen nichtigen Göttern zu dem lebendigen Gott wenden sollt, der den Himmel, die Erde und das Meer mit allem, was darinnen ist, geschaffen hat.
16 Who in times past suffered all the Gentiles to walke in their owne waies.
In den vergangenen Zeiten hat er alle Völker ihre eigenen Wege gehen lassen.
17 Neuerthelesse, hee left not him selfe without witnes, in that hee did good and gaue vs raine from heauen, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with foode, and gladnesse.
Trotzdem aber hat er euch durch seine Wohltaten von seinem Dasein Zeugnis gegeben: Er sendet euch vom Himmel Regen und fruchtbare Zeiten; so schenkt er euch reichlich Nahrung und erfüllt eure Herzen mit Freude."
18 And speaking these things, scarce appeased they the multitude, that they had not sacrificed vnto them.
Nur mit Mühe konnten sie durch diese Worte das Volk davon abbringen, ihnen zu opfern.
19 Then there came certaine Iewes from Antiochia and Iconium, which when they had persuaded the people, stoned Paul, and drewe him out of the citie, supposing he had bene dead.
Später kamen Juden von Antiochia und Ikonium nach Lystra. Die verhetzten das Volk, steinigten Paulus und schleiften ihn zur Stadt hinaus, in der Meinung, er sei tot.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stoode rounde about him, hee arose vp, and came into the citie, and the next day hee departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
Als ihn aber die Jünger umringten, erhob er sich und kehrte in die Stadt zurück. Am folgenden Tag ging er mit Barnabas nach Derbe.
21 And after they had preached the glad tidings of the Gospel to that citie, and had taught many, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antiochia,
Als sie in dieser Stadt die Frohe Botschaft verkündigt und viele Jünger gewonnen hatten, kehrten sie nach Lystra, Ikonium und Antiochia zurück. Sommer 48 n. Chr.
22 Confirming the disciples hearts, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, affirming that we must through many afflictions enter into the kingdome of God.
Überall stärkten sie die Seelen der Jünger, ermahnten sie, fest im Glauben zu beharren, und fügten hinzu: "Wir müssen durch viele Trübsale in Gottes Königreich eingehen."
23 And when they had ordeined them Elders by election in euery Church, and prayed, and fasted, they commended them to the Lord in whome they beleeued.
Sie setzten auch in jeder Gemeinde Älteste ein und befahlen die Jünger unter Gebet und Fasten dem Herrn, an den sie gläubig geworden waren.
24 Thus they went throughout Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia.
Dann zogen sie durch Pisidien und kamen nach Pamphylien.
25 And when they had preached the woorde in Perga, they came downe to Attalia,
Als sie in Perge das Wort des Herrn verkündigt hatten, gingen sie nach Attilia hinab.
26 And thence sailed to Antiochia, from whence they had bene comended vnto the grace of God, to the woorke, which they had fulfilled.
Von da fuhren sie zu Schiff nach Antiochia. Dort waren sie ja einst der Gnade Gottes befohlen für die Arbeit, die sie nun vollendet hatten.
27 And when they were come and had gathered the Church together, they rehearsed all the things that God had done by them, and howe he had opened the doore of faith vnto the Gentiles.
Nach ihrer Ankunft versammelten sie die Gemeinde und berichteten, wie Großes Gott durch sie gewirkt und daß er den Heiden die Tür des Glaubens aufgetan habe.
28 So there they abode a long time with the disciples.
Sie blieben dann geraume Zeit bei den Jüngern in Antiochia.
