Acts 13

1 There were also in the Church that was at Antiochia, certaine Prophets and teachers, as Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen (which had bin brought vp with Herod the Tetrarche) and Saul.

Había entonces en la Iglesia que estaba en Antioquía, profetas y maestros: Bernabé, y Simón el que se llamaba Niger, y Lucio Cireneo, y Manaén, que había sido criado con Herodes el tetrarca, y Saulo.

2 Nowe as they ministred to the Lord, and fasted, the holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the worke whereunto I haue called them.

Ministrando pues éstos al Señor, y ayunando, dijo el Espíritu Santo: Apartadme a Bernabé y a Saulo para la obra para la cual los he llamado.

3 Then fasted they and prayed, and layde their hands on them, and let them goe.

Entonces habiendo ayunado y orado, y puesto las manos encima de ellos, los despidieron.

4 And they, after they were sent foorth of the holy Ghost, came downe vnto Seleucia, and from thence they sayled to Cyprus.

Y ellos, enviados por el Espíritu Santo, descendieron a Seleucia; y de allí navegaron a Chipre.

5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the worde of God in the Synagogues of the Iewes: and they had also Iohn to their minister.

Y llegados a Salamina, anunciaban la palabra de Dios en las sinagogas de los judíos; y tenían también a Juan como asistente.

6 So when they had gone throughout the yle vnto Paphus, they found a certaine sorcerer, a false prophet, being a Iewe, named Bariesus,

Y habiendo atravesado toda la isla hasta Pafos, hallaron un hombre sabio, falso profeta, judío, llamado Barjesús;

7 Which was with the Deputie Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. He called vnto him Barnabas and Saul, and desired to heare the woorde of God.

el cual estaba con el procónsul Sergio Paulo, varón prudente. Este, llamando a Bernabé y a Saulo, deseaba oír la Palabra de Dios.

8 But Elymas, ye sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstoode them, and sought to turne away the Deputie from the faith.

Pero les resistía Elimas, el sabio (que así se interpreta su nombre), procurando apartar de la fe al procónsul.

9 Then Saul (which also is called Paul) being full of the holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

Entonces Saulo, que también es Pablo, lleno del Espíritu Santo, poniendo en él los ojos,

10 And sayde, O full of all subtiltie and all mischiefe, the childe of the deuill, and enemie of all righteousnesse, wilt thou not cease to peruert the straight waies of the Lord?

dijo: Oh, lleno de todo engaño y de todo libertinaje, hijo del diablo, enemigo de justicia, ¿no cesarás de trastornar los caminos rectos del Señor?

11 Nowe therefore behold, the hand of the Lord is vpon thee, and thou shalt be blinde, and not see the sunne for a season. And immediately there fel on him a mist and a darknes; and he went about, seeking some to leade him by the hand.

Ahora pues, he aquí la mano del Señor está contra ti, y serás ciego, y no veas el sol por algún tiempo. Y luego cayeron en él obscuridad y tinieblas; y andando alrededor, buscaba quién le diese la mano.

12 Then the Deputie when he sawe what was done, beleeued, and was astonied at the doctrine of the Lord.

Entonces el procónsul, viendo lo que había sido hecho, creyó, maravillado de la doctrina del Señor.

13 Nowe when Paul and they that were with him were departed by shippe from Paphus, they came to Perga a citie of Pamphylia: then Iohn departed from them, and returned to Hierusalem.

Y zarpados de Pafos, Pablo y sus compañeros arribaron a Perge de Panfilia; entonces Juan, apartándose de ellos, se volvió a Jerusalén.

14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antiochia a citie of Pisidia, and went into the Synagogue on ye Sabbath day, and sate downe.

Y ellos pasando de Perge, llegaron a Antioquía de Pisidia, y entrando en la sinagoga un día de sábado, se sentaron.

15 And after the lecture of the Law and Prophets, the rulers of ye Synagogue sent vnto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye haue any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

Y después de la lectura de la ley y de los profetas, los príncipes de la sinagoga enviaron a ellos, diciendo: Varones hermanos, si hay en vosotros alguna palabra de exhortación para el pueblo, hablad.

16 Then Paul stoode vp and beckened with the hand, and sayde, Men of Israel, and yee that feare God, hearken.

Entonces Pablo, levantándose, hecha señal de silencio con la mano, dice: Varones israelitas, y los que teméis a Dios, oíd:

17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt in the land of Egypt, and with an high arme brought them out thereof.

El Dios de este pueblo de Israel escogió a nuestros padres, y ensalzó al pueblo, siendo ellos extranjeros en la tierra de Egipto, y con brazo levantado los sacó de ella.

18 And about the time of fourtie yeeres, suffered he their maners in the wildernesse.

Y por tiempo como de cuarenta años soportó sus costumbres en el desierto;

19 And he destroied seuen nations in the land of Chanaan, and deuided their lad to them by lot.

y destruyendo las siete naciones en la tierra de Canaán, les repartió por suerte la tierra de ellas.

20 Then afterward he gaue vnto them Iudges about foure hundreth and fiftie yeeres, vnto the time of Samuel the Prophet.

Y después, como por cuatrocientos cincuenta años, les dio jueces hasta el profeta Samuel.

21 So after that, they desired a King, and God gaue vnto them Saul, the sonne of Cis, a man of ye tribe of Beniamin, by the space of fourty yeres.

Y entonces demandaron rey; y Dios les dio a Saúl, hijo de Cis, varón de la tribu de Benjamín, por cuarenta años.

22 And after he had taken him away, he raised vp Dauid to be their King, of whom he witnessed, saying, I haue found Dauid the sonne of Iesse, a man after mine owne heart, which will doe all things that I will.

Y quitado aquel, les levantó por rey a David, del que dio también testimonio, diciendo: He hallado a David, hijo de Jessé, varón conforme a mi corazón, el cual hará todo lo que yo quiero.

23 Of this mans seede hath God according to his promise raised vp to Israel, ye Sauiour Iesus:

De la simiente de éste, Dios, conforme a la promesa, levantó a Jesus por Salvador a Israel;

24 When Iohn had first preached before his coming the baptisme of repentance to all the people of Israel.

predicando Juan delante de la faz de su venida el bautismo de arrepentimiento a todo el pueblo de Israel.

25 And when Iohn had fulfilled his course, he saide, Whom ye thinke that I am, I am not he: but beholde, there commeth one after me, whose shooe of his feete I am not worthy to loose.

Mas cuando Juan cumpliese su carrera, dijo: ¿Quién pensáis que soy? No soy yo él; mas he aquí, viene tras mí uno, cuyo calzado de los pies no soy digno de desatar.

26 Yee men and brethren, children of the generation of Abraham, and whosoeuer among you feareth God, to you is the woorde of this saluation sent.

Varones hermanos, hijos del linaje de Abraham, y los que entre vosotros temen a Dios, a vosotros es enviada esta Palabra de salud.

27 For the inhabitants of Hierusalem, and their rulers, because they knewe him not, nor yet the woordes of the Prophets, which are read euery Sabbath day, they haue fulfilled them in condemning him.

Porque los que habitaban en Jerusalén, y sus príncipes, no conociendo a éste, y las voces de los profetas que se leen todos los sábados, condenándolo, las cumplieron.

28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate to kill him.

Y sin hallar en él causa de muerte, pidieron a Pilato que le matase.

29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they tooke him downe from the tree, and put him in a sepulchre.

Y habiendo cumplido todas las cosas que de él estaban escritas, quitándolo del madero, lo pusieron en el sepulcro.

30 But God raised him vp from the dead.

Mas Dios le levantó de los muertos.

31 And hee was seene many dayes of them, which came vp with him from Galile to Hierusalem, which are his witnesses vnto the people.

Y él fue visto por muchos días de los que habían subido juntamente con él de Galilea a Jerusalén, los cuales hasta ahora son sus testigos al pueblo.

32 And we declare vnto you, that touching the promise made vnto the fathers,

Y nosotros también os anunciamos el Evangelio de aquella promesa que fue hecha a los padres,

33 God hath fulfilled it vnto vs their children, in that he raised vp Iesus, euen as it is written in the seconde Psalme, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.

la cual Dios ha cumplido a los hijos de ellos, a nosotros, resucitando a Jesus; como también en el salmo segundo está escrito: Mi hijo eres tú, yo te engendré hoy.

34 Nowe as concerning that he raised him vp from the dead, no more to returne to corruption, he hath said thus, I wil giue you the holy things of Dauid, which are faithfull.

Y que le levantó de los muertos para nunca más volver a corrupción, así lo dijo: Os daré las misericordias fieles prometidas a David.

35 Wherefore hee sayeth also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine Holy one to see corruption.

Por eso dice también en otro lugar: No permitirás que tu Santo vea corrupción.

36 Howbeit, Dauid after hee had serued his time by the counsell of God, hee slept, and was laid with his fathers, and sawe corruption.

Porque a la verdad David, habiendo servido en su generación a la voluntad de Dios, durmió, y fue juntado con sus padres, y vio corrupción.

37 But he whom God raised vp, sawe no corruption.

Mas aquel que Dios levantó, no vio corrupción.

38 Be it knowen vnto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached vnto you the forgiuenesse of sinnes.

Os sea pues notorio, varones hermanos, que por éste os es anunciada remisión de pecados,

39 And from al things, from which ye could not be iustified by the Law of Moses, by him euery one that beleeueth, is iustified.

y de todo lo que por la ley de Moisés no pudisteis ser justificados, en éste es justificado todo aquel que creyere.

40 Beware therefore lest that come vpon you, which is spoken of in the Prophets,

Mirad, pues, que no venga sobre vosotros lo que está dicho en los profetas:

41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish away: for I woorke a woorke in your daies, a woorke which yee shall not beleeue, if a man would declare it you.

Mirad, oh menospreciadores, y entonteceos, y desvaneceos; porque yo hago una obra en vuestros días, obra que no creeréis, si alguien os la contare.

42 And when they were come out of the Synagogue of the Iewes, the Gentiles besought, that they woulde preach these woordes to them the next Sabbath day.

Y saliendo ellos de la sinagoga de los judíos, los gentiles les rogaron que el sábado siguiente les hablasen estas palabras.

43 Nowe when the congregation was dissolued, many of the Iewes and Proselytes that feared God, followed Paul and Barnabas, which spake to them, and exhorted them to continue in the grace of God.

Y despedida la congregación, muchos de los judíos y de los religiosos prosélitos siguieron a Pablo y a Bernabé; los cuales hablándoles, les persuadían que permaneciesen en la gracia de Dios.

44 And ye next Sabbath day came almost the whole citie together, to heare the worde of God.

Y el sábado siguiente se juntó casi toda la ciudad a oír la Palabra de Dios.

45 But when the Iewes saw the people, they were full of enuie, and spake against those things, which were spoken of Paul, contrarying them, and railing on them.

Pero los judíos, vista la multitud, se llenaron de celo, y se oponían a lo que Pablo decía, contradiciendo y blasfemando.

46 Then Paul and Barnabas spake boldly, and sayde, It was necessarie that the woorde of God shoulde first haue beene spoken vnto you: but seeing yee put it from you, and iudge your selues vnworthie of euerlasting life, loe, we turne to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

Entonces Pablo y Bernabé, usando de libertad, dijeron: A vosotros a la verdad era necesario que se os hablase la palabra de Dios; pero como la desecháis, y os juzgáis indignos de la vida eterna, he aquí, nos volvemos a los gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

47 For so hath the Lord commanded vs, saying, I haue made thee a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be the saluation vnto the end of the world.

Porque así nos mandó el Señor, diciendo: Te he puesto para luz de los gentiles, para que seas por salud hasta lo postrero de la tierra.

48 And when the Gentiles heard it, they were glad, and glorified the woorde of the Lord: and as many as were ordeined vnto eternall life, beleeued. (aiōnios g166)

Y los gentiles oyendo esto, se fueron gozosos, y glorificaban la palabra del Señor; y creyeron todos los que estaban ordenados para vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)

49 Thus the worde of the Lord was published throughout the whole countrey.

Y la palabra del Señor era esparcida por toda aquella provincia.

50 But the Iewes stirred certaine deuoute and honourable women, and the chiefe men of the citie, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coastes.

Mas los judíos concitaron mujeres pías y honestas, y a los principales de la ciudad, y levantaron persecución contra Pablo y Bernabé, y los echaron de sus términos.

51 But they shooke off the dust of their feete against them, and came vnto Iconium.

Entonces sacudiendo en ellos el polvo de sus pies, vinieron a Iconio.

52 And the disciples were filled with ioy, and with the holy Ghost.

Y los discípulos estaban llenos de gozo, y del Espíritu Santo.
